    4. At the end of the day, this is what Lekki dwellers go through just to feel among. Even the almighty Banana Island has been tagged "the most expensive ghetto in the world" by the same people they are trying to impress.

Only a fool would spend hundreds of millions of Naira, if not billions, in some cases, to acquire a property in a location where simple things like sewage, effective drainage and water system are not part of the plan. A place where the planning did not go beyond allocation of lands to individuals or organisations capable of paying the right sum.

This country needs help. If you don't stay where the rich stay, then you are not rich enough, even if they are literally drowning there.

There are people who would speak to you like you are beneath them simply because houses where they stay are more expensive compared to houses where you stay.

What's more funny is, these days girls wouldn't even date a guy that stays in Ikeja because her ex stays in Lekki. Meanwhile, the guy in Ikeja can probably buy the one in Lekki... lol

All we care about is our status symbol. We constantly device new ways to oppress the next person and we do it like our lives depend on it. Well, I guess some of us truly believe it does, else, how would you explain the fact that despite seeing this post, some people still have it in their plan to live in Lekki someday?

I have friends on the Island as well as on the mainland and I can tell you categorically that most of my friends who are "actually comfortable", not those showing off as comfortable, meanwhile, are struggling, are on the mainland.

But here's another thing to put into consideration, my friends on the island get more girls than my friends on the mainland. So I guess it depends on what you are down with. Lmao.

    7. The water does not take time for it to dry up.

Most part are not properly filled and drainages are blocked. Water comes out from the ground. I remember my friends house then, if it rains, water comes out from the ground. Since then, I vow not to stay on ground floor again.

    8. You are so right! Besides the poor drainage system, they can't boast of clean tap water there, if one digs to for water, you have to go like over 15 feet or else, its is sewage's water that will come up! Most land there were sand filled properly! Mainland is still the " koko" mehn!

Fine houses, but no good drainage. I wonder how people cope there during the rainy season. Gosh!

  3. The artificial drainage cannot stop the heavy flooding. Lekki is naturally a water logged area. Haters can drown themselves in the water.

  8. As far as I'm concerned, water, constant eletricity and a good drainage system are the 1st few things Nigeria needs to get right. Basic things.

  22. I know most of you would love to hear that it's lekki and be in your ghetto smiling now, pity. The truth is that in less than 1 hour the water is gone into the canal. Lekki is originally built on water.

    1. We bought our home in 2009. We were shown 3 homes in Northern Foreshore Estates and 2 more in phase 1 Lekki. Honey we rejected all and chose our dream home on solid ground with no issues of drainage on the Mainland and paid 20M more than the houses we saw in that swamp. So....?

    1. Lol. Phase 1? This is typically how Fola Osibo looks and the many streets within Admiralty. Chill!

    2. It's mostly gone within an hour so if you step out way later you might not meet it. I'd still take where I live 10 times over over anywhere on the mainland flood or no flood. So until we complain I think y'all on the mainland should take a chill pill, you chose there of your finance chose there for you so let's all remain on our lane.

    3. I feel sorry for Nigerians when I hear them defend some awful points. So because the water dries in 1hour,that makes it okay? Why should it even flood in the first place. It is just this "I must belong" mentality that affects so many people. My house in Maryland is on solid ground and gas perfect drainage. And believe it or not, cost more than some Lekki homes. My friend whose husband is a Banker and borrowed money from his bank to buy a house, moved to Lekki from Gbagada simply because "All my hubby's friends are moving to Lekki". I was astonished at their reason for moving there! It's just a pity. Many have predicted that if this flooding continues, Lekki is most likely going to sink and I agree with them.

      Delete
    4. Anon 11.36. From your comments I know you are just one of those wanna be's in Lekki. Who told you that houses on the mainland are cheaper than those in that swimming pool Lekki? You are obviously myopic and don't reason deep. See who is talking of finance. Okuko igbo, okpa nza, go and hide abeg. See your head like finance. Until you and your family drown in these floods one day. You will keep on trying to belong. Ezi.

  25. Its not the drainage system per se.Remember that most of those places were reclaimed from victoria island. They are all ontop water.they were sand filled.so the structural engrs shld have anticipated all this.
