Buhari And Jonathan In Secret Meeting Over Niger Delta Crisis And Anti-Corruption Probe

President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday night met behind closed doors inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting, which was held at the private residence of the President held to discuss the Niger Delta crisis took place around 9PM on Thursday.

Sahara reporters had revealed that the former president abruptly left his home hometown Otueke less than 24 hours after returning from Cote D'Ivoire.
A source told Sahara reporters that President Buhari reassured the former president of his highest regards and made it clear to him that there was no plan to arrest him or his wife, Patience over the ongoing corruption clampdown.

The meeting Sahara reporters learnt was brokered by former President Olusegun Obasanjo shortly after news broke that Jonathan had taken refuge in Abidjan fearing that he would be arrested in he returned to Nigeria. Obasanjo who was in Lesotho at the time reportedly intervened on Jonathan's behalf. Obasanjo too met President Buhari earlier today in the Villa behind closed doors.
No aide joined the two leaders for the closed-door parley.

    1. Abeg their meeting will help solve a lot of issues. This one that the avengers have threatened to launch a ballistic missile on the 7th of June to attack the air space. They've warned that planes mustn't fly. Whether they'll make true their threat or not, we wouldn't want to wait to find out. Serious dialogue is needed. At least Jonathan can use this medium to rewrite the wrong he did his people while he was in power. If they think he didn't help them back then, now is the time to appease them. Biko I no wan war o. If not na to carry my passport comot for this country.

  6. As it is now I don't even think GEJ can talk sense into those Avengers cause they're clearly fighting for their right.

Buhari should stop being proud and speak to the militants himself

And enough with the OBJ intervened shit cause we all know Buhari has no power and balls to arrest GEJ
Try it if you can Bubu
    Lmao

    1. Fighting for their right!? If you say miscreants threatening to blow up planes are fighting for their rights then you probably believe boko haram are also fighting for their rights.

They said they don't want to negotiate. All they want is an independent Niger Delta. Same as boko haram. What do you want the government to tell them again?

    2. Which yeye right are they fighting for? They are not speaking for the whole Niger Delta, so they should keep quiet. Bloody bunch of brainless thugs with silly name...Niger Delta Avengers my ass

    3. Boko haram is fighting for Islamic freedom while Niger delta region needs to be free from this force marriage called Nigeria.

    4. This isn't even the time to prove who has power or not. OBJ has no other job again in this country than to broker peace between themselves.

Dialogue, dialogue, Dialogue, that is all they need. Nobody should feel too big to have a round table discussion. Not even Mr President. If the avengers get away with threatening the nation, other groups will emerge and feel they can do same. Before you know it, Nigeria will just break apart and we can't afford that right now oh.

  12. Hahahaha! I thought PMB is tough! you can't fight corruption when your own members are corrupt as well. Clean your house first before cleaning your environment. Yes! you need GEJ to talk to those NDA militants because you did not do the right thing! You refused to dialogue, you sent your VP to them, why? Nah Osinbanjo good to collect bullets ba! Nobody likes war but when you seem to act as if you are above everyone, forgetting why you were voted in , then you will be schooled! Rubbish! Nothing is working right now in Nigeria! Why? People get laid off from work, no decent jobs for graduates, no power, no good roads, just paths!, no good healthcare systems but mushrooms clinic and shops where fake medications are sold, No security. The cost of living has gone up yet the civil servants salaries has not increased! But the senate gets a fat pay! I believe it is the right time for military to step in or what the USA predicted will come to pass!

  16. I do not like their faces. Nigeria full of promising stars keep vomitting mediocres as leaders.......tueh!

Probably GEJ will serve as mediator in a deal that will see him keeping his loots and reputation......Whatever!

Nigeria is ticking! We can keep postponing doom's day......but if we do not stop playing the ostrich, well, we will keep patching problems in a house with an extremely shaky foundation. I though Bubu has mega balls......now he is no different from past misleaders who seek treatment of symptoms rather than causes.

I am ranting......i did not read the content of this post. Thankfully...tomatoes is back.

    1. You guys keep saying 'I thought Buhari was tough". But u keep forgetting that he cannot act like a military man by giving certain instructions..else Nigerians will call him a dictator. He's only treading with caution, it's not about fear.

  19. Now we know why Baba was in aso rock, to plead on behalf of the thief and careless ex President so that he can stop running and hiding all over like fugitive. Its just a matter of time. This is one of the reasons Baba pleaded with Buhari not release names provided people like him and his power drunk wife has returned part of their loot. Awon ole.

    1. No one said they wanted to arrest Jonathan in the first place. The media instigated that report and it went viral. Simply because his closest aid was arrested, then the media just sensationalised the news.

  23. I have always known that Buhari cannot succumb to advice to arrest Jonathan or his wife. Matter of fact, at the end Jonathan would be made an emissary of the federal government to the Niger Delta.
