In an interview with Encomium, the actress says “marriage is overrated and too much of a headache”.
According to her, her marital status or lack thereof is nobody’s business.
She said, "Yes, because marriage has been overrated. It’s unnecessarily over rated. It’s just too much of headache with how things are now. Even ordinary relationship is a huge burden, huge headache and heartbreaking, let alone marriage.
When you can’t stand each other as boyfriend and girlfriend, how would you live together under the same roof when you get married?
People need to know themselves seriously. When I say seriously, I mean spiritually before getting married. People only know themselves physically, not spiritually, so they end up getting bored with each other. And they will say they don’t want to get divorce because of what society would say after investing so much on the marriage.
They stay in that marriage and later it may become very irritating and they start fighting. Before they know it, everything becomes violent. You hear people say all sorts of things. You’re the one who allowed people to get to you and start telling you you’re getting old.
You’re the one allowing them to convince you that you’re getting old, you need to get married. Everyone will surely get old. Who won’t get old? So, when people say I am getting old, get married, I would tell them that’s the only thing they know. People carry marriage like a flag."
On her getting married soon
"No, people should only try to be nice about marriage to make me interested in it. Don’t tell me actresses don’t stay in marriage. Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva have been married for long and they’re still in the marriage. nothing happened to their union.

Omotola and her husband have been married for long, they’re still very much together. She got married at a young age which is good. What I am trying to say is that going into marriage needs a lot, you don’t just go into it. My elder sister got married at 26 and she’s doing fine in the marriage with her husband.
Now, tell me why won’t I want a family like that? But these days, people are just too much into social media, that’s why marriages are crashing. Marriage these days is not based on happiness and genuine love. Let me ask, who is that poor person that has married a billionaire son? So, why won’t marriage crash when it’s not based on happiness and genuine love?"

ReplyDeleteShame! The truth is with the bs going on these days, marriage is undesirable. If I was single I'd be sh** scared too. But I think she's really obsessed with this marriage topic, in her bid to show she's 'anti-marriage' she comes across as 'pro-marriage'. May the host of heaven hook her up with a good man. ππ½ππ½

Why won't she say so when she has and is still wasting her youthful age on married men? I'm in the same spot,I'm 38,which young man will want me? after mine reconciled with his bitchy wife, God punish them, i'll get my revenge,no bastard can waste my time and go scot free. Ma'basi.

Well, she isn't wrong about the rate at which marriages go south, these days. The thing is finding the right person, and your mindset will change.
I hope she does.

DeleteShe neva see who to marry abeg
ReplyDeleteShe's lonely joor.
DeleteHmmmm
ReplyDeleteShe is beginning to sound like a broken record. She should pray for her own man to come and stop the negativity. But I wonder why Nigerian journalists can' t carry out an interview without bringing up marriage issues.
ReplyDeleteThat's her prerogative..
ReplyDeleteGo easy on her,folks.
Said like a frustrated and lonely 30+ years woman who's been praying and fasting for 'The One' for a very long time. Na their defense mechanism to make them feel better be that. Wished she made sense and didn't end up sounding like a teenager

ReplyDeleteOkay Halima we believe you.
Nkasi obi ndi no ahuhu. When you find a good man,I know you will sing a song.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that marriage is over-rated but the more you talk about it,the more it appears that you so much long for it.
ReplyDeleteIf you find a nice and caring man,pls get married you hear?
That marriages are breaking up these days doesn't mean you shouldn't get married if you find the right person.
Madam e don do u oo, no b by force to marry nd ur opinion is not needed
ReplyDeleteDon't mind d gwegz na so them dry talk. Nse etim said more than dat, now she's married.... KennySaidSo
ReplyDeleteStory dat touch...mtchewww....wen u r done hoping to get married n u r not,u end up saying rubbish as an excuse to why u aren't married...πππ
ReplyDeleteMarriage isnt a must but make sure you equally dont engage in fornication. This is because if you really know God you will know what his stand on marriage is.i ordinarily get scared of the problems faced in marriages, so would gladly go with the option of not being married. The question is will I not "burn" as the bible describes it?so my option for now is keep waiting until I meet the right one
ReplyDeleteGbamest!
DeleteYimu Na so all of us talk till man propose the mouth change. Go and sit down Halima
ReplyDeleteBut wait oooo must they ask her abt marriage? Haba Nigerians carry marriage like d greatest achievement in life.
