Nolywood Movie Producer Dickson Iroegbu Apologises To Former President Jonathan.

This apology was posted on Facebook yesterday Morning...

Dear Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, I write to apologize on behalf of myself and the many repentant Nigerians like me who ganged up against your government
in 2012. Your government's policy to remove subsidy on the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as patrol was completely misconstrued by us.

I was personally deceived by my overzealous comradely towards millions of Nigerians who had traveled to various locations at that time to spend Christmas with their loved ones. I was particularly concerned about NDIIGBO who traditionally returned home in droves during this period every year. Sir, like millions of Nigerians I worked for your victory at the polls in 2011, but I considered the untoward hardship the removal of subsidy on the 1st of January 2012 as insensitive. It was simply seen as going to inflict serious hardship on the millions who voted you to power; hence we arose against it.

Yes I did join the protest, but my dear Sir, I did not consider the long term positive effect it would have on the economy of our beloved nation at that particular moment. We joined forces with the NLC and the TUC, and alongside your political enemies we mobilized hundreds of thousands of people in protest across the nation.

I matched with my colleagues from my then abode in Aguda through Surulere (National Stadium), to Ojelegba, through Maryland, to Ojota where we met a marmot crowd. The police and all other law enforcement agents under your democratic leadership were very civil with us; we were never harassed or molested nor killed. In fact a certain overzealous police man who accidentally shot at a young man in Mushin area in Lagos during that protest was not only dismissed from service, but he was also prosecuted and jailed!

SIR, YOU ARE A GOOD EXAMPLE OF A DEMOCRATIC LEADER IN AFRICA!
There in Ojota, Pastor Tunde Bakare and Sheik Ahmad Abubakar Gumi and Seun Kuti, and many many others were there. Even my brother Okey Bakassi was there too! We sang and danced, we gyrated, we cooked and slept there in the open arena protected by the police, the civil defence, etc.

The next day we woke up matched on to Ikoyi and converged at Falamo bridge, where Ali Baba, Prof. Pat Utomi, and the rich men children were gathered - we had matched through YABA and IDUMOTA, chanting the resurrected songs of King Fela Anikulapo Kuti. We called you names like, the shameless shoeless one, the animal in human skin, innumerable and unprintable names!

Even when you came out in a nationwide broadcast and addressed the people as President and father of the nation explaining why you took that unpopular decision, urging the masses to understand and bear with you for a while, we said no way! We remained adamant! We booed you! We insulted you!
Mr. President Sir, please find it in your heart to forgive us. We did not know what we were doing then; but we understand better now. The same people who deceived us have turned around and increase the pump price through the back door, in the guise of subsidy removal. They have inflicted hardship on the Nigerian masses you love so much.

You were not perfect, but you were a loving father to all of us, you were President and C-in-C to the North, South, West and the East, but we vilified and treated you with disrespect and ignominy.

Sir, the economy that flourished under your watch as President which positioned us as number one economy in Africa and one of 25 fastest growing economies in the world is now at its lowest ebb in just one year of misrule. In just one year of your exit Nigeria our beloved country has become a shadow of herself! The picture is so gloomy, inflation rate is so high! The masses cannot even put food on their tables, darkness everywhere, electricity generation is at all time very lowest - killings and maiming, evil looms; our nation Nigeria is under attack!

May be you could just say a word of prayer sir, "May Nigeria not erupt in flames and violence under the current draconian administration" - Sir I say that because there is so much hunger in the land, and as they say, a hungry man is an angry man! A HUNGRY PEOPLE NA CONFUSION!

Please find it in your heart to forgive and forget, for indeed we ganged up against you wrongly. We didn't know that we were doing wrong to our-own-selves. May God bless you with long life and good health.
Warm regards.

  6. Apology accepted. I know dullard worshippers will call you names and come after you, never mind, they don't have a stand just like usu. Buhalies is just starting with them. He met empty treasure, he met empty treasure, even with the empty treasure, we still buy a bag of Rice @ N8k, basket of Tomatoes @ N4k aand fuel @ N87 to mention few. But the acclaimed change man that lacks leadership skill, doesn't care for masses, whose only mission is to punish and jail his opponents could not manage the country for only 365 days. What a shame. He is busy travelling from one country to the other seeking for professional Doctors and Hospitals but denied the masses access to that. Can you compare exchange rate to what it used to be last year? The people suffers when a wicked man is in authority and that is what is happening presently until that dullard leave office.

    1. You are so wrong, jonathan had a good financial team that would have managed the subsidy removal and given the necessary results, all in good time. He even tried to make nigerians see reasons with him. We were adamant and he heard our cries of ignorance and relented in a bid to be understanding. Please which strong financial team does buhari have? Has he even acknowledged our existence by offering an explanation as it should be in a democratic rule?
Buhari is the clueless one my dear, add the rest of the names to that.

      Delete
    2. To be candid, this subsidy matter is the only aspect I agree that Nigerians need to apologise to Jonathan. It was a monumental blunder when it was reverted.. but it was out of respect for aggrieved Nigerians who took to protest, As it merely postponed the financial intricacies which was aptly projected by Lamido, that the government to come after Jonathan would suffer financial set back. And here we are today. Truth is this would have also happened in Jonathan's time too if the subsidy removal was grounded. So it's not like we would have had it so smooth.

And besides, not many Nigerians understood what the logistics of the removal or the non removal of subsidy entails(ed).. many were just ignorantly re echoing what their neighbours were saying. Most of the protesters were clueless, they even used the protest grounds for social gathering with their placards taking selfies and showing off.. Especially the celebrities. That's what we call "follow follow ideas". But I think the understanding is better now.

  24. ok sir on behalf of DR GEJ..we accept your apology...hehehehehehehehehehehe

Me I will keep saying it o, when they say there was corruption in GEJ's regime things were not this hard. Ok now we voted out corruption for integrity and things are not only hard but worse!.....those who were against the subsidy removal of 137naira then are now embracing it now saying it is for the country to be better. E ma tan ara yin nibe...when a common civil servant salary at the state level is 13000 minimum wage, even that 13000 sef not all states are paying. When the government can no longer sponsor the NYSC scheme. When Fulani herdsmen have killed so many and still killing. so many whensssssss..lol. An elderly statesman said that during Lam Adesina's regime as the governor in oyo state and the fulanis and yourubas had a clash where some fulanis were killed, buhari came to the state to accuse the governor of why his people are killing his people. And he even took it steps further by getting a legal action against oyo. You people should open your eyes to the fact that Buhari is a military man...dictatorship and causing hardship is in their blood...he is also fulani

Before you come under here to spit out rubbish please use your head because for the fact that you had 200naira or more to buy data doesn't make you a better person think about the masses, the market women, the civil servants, the commercial workers...the mekunus in short

DOLLAR TO NAIRA RATE IS BECAUSE OF DROP IN DEMAND AND SALE OF OIL.
DROPR IN DEMAND AND SALE OF OIL SATRTED EARLY 2015.

IF GOODLUCK AND HIS PEOPLE HAD STILL BEEN STEALLING TILL NOW NIGERIA WOULD HAVE CRASHED.
IF GOOD LUCK AND HIS PEOPLE HAD NOT STOLEN SO MUCH WE WOULD HAVE MORE CASH IN NIGERIAN TREASURY.

    1. Very valid points. None of those problems were GEJ's fault; the fall in world oil demands is having an adverse effect on the economies of oil producing countries all over the world but it is only Naija that is suffering. GEJ even put the framework in place to diversify our economy from a 56 year old crude oil monopoly which to me is the major cause of our economic hardships. Instead of PMB to put political sentiment aside and build on these foundations, he's busy playing the blame game. Mind u a spokesperson for PMB said the TSA has like 3 trillion in it. It seems like PMB lacks the economic know-how to adequately manage the country in these times. Even Obasanjo said it that PMB is good in military tactics but has poor economic judgement.(not his direct quote). Right now more and more Nigerians are finding it hard to relate with this government because there is less and less food in their bellies.

  33. When I hear Nigerians speak I remember the Isrealites when they faced the Red Sea after being rescued from Pharaoh. We will be grateful to God at the end of this regime when we see things change. Do not be deceived Nigeria had died during GEJ but was just embalmed but PMB has exposed the death and the putrid smell is what we are all complaining about. For those who think you have to be a Christian to be chosen by God, go and read the bible when Nebuchadnezzar was addressed as the son of God. PMB is being used to correct the country.

    2. I beg to differ with this your analogy . During the exodus there were palliative measures;manna from heaven, there was protection and safety;Parting of the red Sea and destruction of the Egyptian forces, there was direction; the ten commandments and Vision; promise of Isreal. This country now more than ever needs a visionary leader not a ruler. Buhari's style of single mindedness, micromanagement and indecision is extremely dangerous. This government has transferred is ineptitude as taxes, tariffs and impoverishments on her citizens. Them blaming PDP is counter-productive... Blaming people never gets you anywhere rather it leaves you mentally handicapped to proffering solutions. I'm for one will not complain about this government again..I'd only state facts where I see people are blinded to the current state of affairs. By Gods grace in the midst of all this percieved uncertainties God's people will thrive even where there is a casting down.. peace be with you brethren and I wish you all the best

  38. Very idiotic apology! When men cannot reason anymore; simply put, Jonathan corrupted our future and may God judge him!
What kind of economy did Jonathan inherited and what kind did he handed over? This is not about Buhari or APC but Nigerians need to start thinking properly. Buhari can make the choice to borrow and continue to keep us in the debt or we can fast some bit and endure the pain so as to come out of this box we have been caged in.

Things are difficult now because of the wrong foundation that was laid by past leaders, we have come to the point where something must give.
