NLC Insists On Strike Tomorrow May 18th.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) led by Ayuba Wabba says they will proceed with its planned strike despite this morning's injunction by the National Industrial Court ‎restraining organized labor from embarking on its planned strike action tomorrow May 18th.

The head of information of NLC, Benson Upah, in an interview with TheCable said‎ “‎NLC’s position has not shifted. The strike will go on tomorrow,” he said.

When asked if he could be quoted, he said: “Quote me, the strike will go on tomorrow.”

The leadership of NLC say the take-off point for workers in Abuja is at the NLC secretariat by 8am.

*Hmmmmm I hope that this is not hijacked by groups seeking something else tomorrow,I hope for the sake of God,this does not turn bloody.I pray to GOD that no lives will be lost tomorrow and if yes,let it be minimal and let this not lead to anything that will make the masses suffer more!!!
GOD please pick my call.

  4. The FG is not handlin this issue in d ryt way. They were suppose to continue negotiation with nlc/tuc dis afternoon but, bfor that time they quickly went to national industrial court seekin restrainin order against nlc.Haba! Now they are threatenin to use security operatives to fight nlc tomorrow. This islike a military regime to me wia dey use guns to force the masses against dia wish.Just that bcos we r in democracy and dey culdnt use guns they r now usin word of mouth and threats on the masses. This is unfair FG!

    1. Nothing wrong with the FG going to the court. That is why the Industrial Court was formed, to settle trade disputes. I work for a highly unionised PRIVATE company and once when management sought redress at the industrial court, judgement was ruled in the favour of the staff.

The Ajaero-led faction has decided to negotiate. Good for the ordinary Nigerian. If not, na suffer and die for some people. The Wabba-led faction just dey find settlement in the midst of the chaos.

  5. I'm happy about this strike action, Stella Nigerians are suffering, things are difficult, no light, no water, fuel is 145, tomatoes 3 for #200. Much as I want the buhari led administration to work eeeh, people are suffering.. I was in the market today and I stood in one place for a Long time not knowing what or how to negotiate with sellers; it had now reach the time when both buyers and sellers just stares at each other in the market place.

  13. I was wondering why the FG is trying to suppress the voice of the masses by restraining the NLC from going on strike. For cring out loud, this is the democratic era. Are we supposed to shut up when we are being oppressed, when there is so much suffering in the land? N145 per litre of fuel is imposed on us and we are supposed to swallow it line, hook and sinker without any negotiation? If Nigerians allow this to just slip by, I foresee more dictatorships in the nearest futre. So, the youths of Bauchi state can protest in support of the removal of subsidy while The NLC does not have a right to protest? I'm in total support of this strike o

  16. We will begin to honor the courts when FG starts honoring court orders.. "Nnamdi Kanu, Dasuki" etc. Nigeria is gradually heading to anarchy, lawlessness..

  17. In my opinion, we live in a country where our government wants us to make painful sacrifices while all the politicians smile to the bank and an average Nigerian cry to death because of lack of funds to go about their day to day activity. I was even expecting the FG to implement a higher minimum wage and then remove the subsidy. They say oh we can't afford to pay 56k because it's unrealistic but on the other hand they can afford to pay a senator salary to the tune of millions in a month.. if I were to see President Buhari today..i will tell him to slash these senators and co's salaries and increase an average Nigerian salary and lets see those that will still choose to stay and SERVE the people. We have been cheated for long and my heart is saddened by the actions of our selfish leaders. People who are supposed to be our mouthpiece and advocates..How can someone earning 18k in a month get to work and perform as he ought to..when he can't even take care of himself with the meager amount let alone a wife and children..
