1. The Nigerian troops have rescued another abducted Chibok school girl, kidnapped in 2014 by the Boko Haram sect.
The girl, whose identity was given as Serah Luka, daughter of Pastor Luka, was rescued around 10am on Thursday.
2. President Muhammadu Buhari has promised that his government will take care of the Chibok girl rescued in Borno State on Wednesday by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force and the Nigerian Army, at the Presidential Villa.
Buhari said, like every Nigerian and many others all over the world, he was happy that the young lady was back alive.
3. A Senior Special Assistant to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Security Matters, Hon Igbana Denen has been assassinated. Denen was murdered by unknown gunmen in his Makurdi residence around 2:30am on Saturday.
4. The South East Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the rescue of Amina Ali, one of the abducted Chibok school girls, has put to shame the former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan and the governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose.
The party said the rescue put them to shame because the duo had always thought that the abduction of the girls was a scam meant to tarnish the image of former President Goodluck Jonathan and his regime.
5. An Egyptair aircraft conveying over 59 passengers has been declared missing.
The flight MS804 was en route from Paris to Cairo with 66 people on board when it disappeared from radar, while flying at the height of 36,000 feet over the Mediterranean Sea at 2:30 am local time (0030 GMT).

6. The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has described the removal of subsidy from petrol as a welcome development.
The students’ body said the Nigerian economy was sinking and badly battered, and therefore, incapable of bearing the burden of fuel subsidy.
7. The All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State has threatened to expel Senator Shehu Sani over what it termed total disregard for leadership of the ruling party.
Acting Publicity Secretary of All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Salisu Tanko Wusono said the party in the state would take further displinary measures that may lead to Sani’s expulsion as it would no longer condone his constant attacks on its leaders.
8. The Federal Government, Thursday, released names of its members of the technical committee to work with organised labour on the agreement it reached with the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, and the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, on palliatives, following the hike of pump price of petrol to N145 per litre.
While the government has seven representatives, NLC and TUC would present seven other members. The committee will be inaugurated on Monday, May 23, 2016.
9. The Federal Government has explained why the embattled former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd) might not be released soon. It said his release will pose a threat to national security as the amount of illegal weapons recovered from Dasuki’s Abuja home and the intelligence report at the disposal of the nation’s security agencies has it that more arms and ammunitions have not being recovered.
10. No fewer than 106 workers of University Staff schools in the country have been allegedly sacked by the Federal Government.
Another 76 members from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, Osun State were also said to be on the waiting list for disengagement.
