Former President Jonathan Debunking Exile Rumour Says Nigeria Does Not Appreciate Him...

Former President Goodluck Jonathan says his decision to step down after losing the 2015 presidential election has earned him accolades on the continent, but not in Nigeria.

According to THISDAY, the immediate past president said he had made sacrifices for Nigeria and was prepared to lay down his life for the country if the need arises.

He also debunked the report that he had opted to go on exile in Cote d’Ivoire, saying he was taking out time to relax.

“I am not in exile. I am here resting. I am in Cote d’Ivoire, I have been here for a week resting and this is my second trip to the country since I stepped down as president,” he was quoted as saying.

“I have no reason to leave Nigeria. I have made sacrifices for Nigeria. I am praised all over Africa for averting bloodshed and for the peaceful transition from one government to another, but it seems Nigeria does not appreciate my efforts.

“I have done my best for this country and if I have to die for it, I will do so. However, I am taking it easy here (Cote d’Ivoire) and when I am ready, I will come back.”
By Sunday, it will be exactly one year that Jonathan handed over to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The former president has received so many awards on the account of the voluntary hand over of power, a rare feat on the continent.

    13. Of course Igbo people worship this man who did nothing for Igbo people. No 2nd niger bridge. Osha-Enugu road in shambles. The new Enugu airport is a mess. His ijaw and Otuoke brothers know that he is a loser. Jonathan did nothing for ndi Igbo. Buhari will do nothing for ndi Igbo. It is hypocritical for ndi Igbo to pretend to love any one of them than the other. But ndi Igbo are too naive politically and worse, too gullible and ignorant to even protect their interests in Nigeria. In politics, there are only permanent interests and no permanent friendship. Chikena.

  7. Okay. So you handed over. With all the revelations, I would also handover if I was Dr Jonathan. The treasury was,EMPTY!!! If PMB knew how empty it was, I'm sure he won't have accepted the handover.

Please lets be reasonable. So,as long as I help people and sit front row in church and donate heavily and generously, then its okay for me to steal the offerings, commit fraud, look the other way while my friends and family loot the country and eat the food meant for millions etc!!! Please sir, I hope Dr Jonathan didn't say this. You handed over peacefully so that makes all the impunities okay????

You handed over peacefully hoping that'll save you from this never seen before kind of looting. Abacha and IBB were Childs play compared to your regime sir. Please don't disrespect the few of us who liked you as a person even when I personally and constantly said you weren't on top and in charge of your team.

If in your myopic view, Jonathan was the best thing that happened to Nigeria, all I can hope for is that this your viewpoint is shared by a small minority.

Jonathan is one of the worst things that happened to Nigeria and whilst he didn't legalise corruption, he certainly turned a blind eye to all the excesses that happened under his watch! That makes him culpable.

Get a life madam. You can come under my comment to defend yourself if you want, but you will only succeed in demonstrating stupidity that defies imagination. As you always do.

If you had looted the economy alone, it would have been better after all IBB, Abacha, Obasanjo looted more than you, but you allowed your friends and family loot our economy for their generations to come without even fear of God.
On handing over peacefully, you have no other choice because they would have killed you on that seat when you surrounded yourself with saboteurs and enemies and left the south south and south eastern region with no tangible development. Finally it is time Bubu and co allow you to have a peaceful rest and continue witch hunting your aides with his quaraption.

  22. So of all Africa countries he chooses war ravaged Cote d’Ivoire? A country known for protecting exiled ex-leaders.
I don't believe his response and we don't expect him to tell Nigerians he went on a brief exile. I believe he will be back to the country when things are put in place for his return by his friends. If ThisDay as part of PDP tool can write such about their man, someone they benefited from his government then it is true. The report shocked his supporters and inner caucus that's the reason for the statement.
Let's assume his visit to Cote d’Ivoire was to chill until things calm down as EFCC is about to invite him.

Our leaders always think they are doing us favour, forgetting leadership comes with sacrifice. We expected peaceful transition after your reign after all former leaders before you did same.

Even his town Otuoke has no clean water. PH airport in his backyard is the worst airport in the world. Why punish Rivers people bc of Amechi? Oh he was not a dictator? How easy people forget how he used Mathew Mbu to harass Amechi in PH. Patience caused all kinds of airport lock down when she flew to any city. So they think they can harm people I am connected to and just walk like that, just like that?
That one is impossible, their case is a spiritual matter. They stole too much, as a result too much blood was shed and people are still suffering today as a result of their greed.
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan your generation is doomed and I know enough to know this. Some people will ask, why GEJ and not the rest, after all they are also thieves?

  28. Its a shame he is still clueless, he believes he has done us a favour by handing over power after losing the election. Why didn't you seize power when Yar'Adua's wife and the cabal blocked you after her husband's demise. Was it not the people that protested and ensured you ascended the seat.
Sorry sir, in a democracy power belongs to the people and they give it to whomever they choose, the people put you in power and the people removed you when you disappointed them. So you didn't do us any favour, stop deluding yourself.
