EFCC, PDP MEMBERS AND DASUKIGATE

Must READ....Brilliant writeup which might just get you really really upset or you might just agree....

Hello Stella,
You shared your thought in the post: EFCC Seizes Fani-Kayode's Passport, Detains Ex-Gov Yero yesterday and that prompted me to write this. I was thinking if it was possible for us to go a little further to provoke our thoughts on a follow up to the subject of the post. In that post, you ended with,

“Sometimes I want to believe its a witch hunt but when the person agrees to collecting the money without knowing the source, I am left but to shut up. I dont know whether the former Minister is innocent or not, that will be left for a court to decide but what i learn from this and ask myself is ''should we pay for crimes we unconsciously commit?..He didnt know he was collecting looted money, doesnt that make him Innocent? #justmythoughts”.

Before delving into the intended subject, I would love to firstly point out that one thing that makes your blog different from many other major blogs is that,  sometimes you put up some interesting posts where you create an avenue for people to share their thoughts on important issues. In addition to that, you sometimes leave your readers with your view point, without pretending to be neutral like other bloggers. I might not agree with some of your view points, but it leaves me to adore your style.

Back to the subject. On the issue of arrests and invitations (and other events leading to court cases) by the EFCC, I find one thing very shocking from the comments made by Nigerians (especially the youths) after the arrests of some prominent PDP figures such as Olisa Metuh, Fani-Kayode, Raymond Dokpesi among others. Prior and shortly after the arrest of Metuh by the EFCC, his party members, many internet-active youths and some people from his ethnic and geopolitical region were shouting and angry that his arrest was because of him speaking against the present administration. They claim that, in an attempt to silence him, the Federal Government under the APC made allegation of corruption against him, etc. If I could suggest that we take a look at the subject from a different angle.

Only yesterday, Mr. Colet Odenigbo, a defence witness for Metuh during trial before the Federal High Court in Abuja admitted that N400 Million Naira was received by Metuh from the office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) where Dasuki headed. It was given to him for the political campaign of the PDP. According to how it was reported on Vanguard Newspaper yesterday, it said, “The witness, who was a former US Naval Officer and a consultant to the office of the PDP National Publicity Secretary, said he accompanied Metuh to meet with a panel of the ONSA, where it was agreed that N400m be given to him to fund the party’s campaign activities for the 2015 general election.”

In today’s paper still by Vanguard, it is reported that Doyin Okupe, former Special Assistant to Goodluck Jonathan on media testified in the same High Court in Abuja that the former president “instructed the payment of N400 million to Olisa Metuh”. According to Okupe, he claimed that the payment was made through Metuh’s Destra Investment Company. All the money was reported to be given to Metuh in preparation for the 2015 presidential election from the National Security Adviser’s office.

From the two witnesses above and proofs available to the EFCC, Metuh is accused to have collected the sum of N400 million from the office of the NSA to fund the election of the former president and the payment was made to Metuh by the instruction of Goodluck Jonathan. The interesting thing is Metuh has not denied this accusation.

The questions now are, what is wrong in arresting and charging Olisa Metuh to court for taken money from the office of the NSA to fund the election of Goodluck Jonathan? Is it witch-hunting to charge him to court for criminally and illegally taking money meant for the purchase of arms and ammunition to fight insurgents who have wasted the lives of thousands and made millions homeless? Why are our youths wasting their hard-earned to pay for  MTN, Etisalat, Glo data to stand up in support and defence of people stealing billions of Naira of Nigerian people’s money thereby making them suffer and die in penury?

When has it become our responsibility to defend people who have stolen our national cake? Why are the children of Metuh, Fani-Kayode, Dokpesi among others not going to the internet and other social media to defend their fathers? The obvious reason is because their children are busy enjoying the millions illegally transferred into the accounts of their parents in mansions in Abuja, Lagos and expensive houses and schools abroad. The children of these men and women are there laughing at these suffering masses defending the corruption of their fathers and mothers and laughing at the stupidity of these youths wasting their data, time and lives to defend these corrupt people.

Since the release of Metuh from EFCC cell, we have not heard much noise from him, if at all any. Have we bothered to ask why? Of course, he knows that the EFCC’s charge against him is very correct and cannot run away from his involvement in the squandering of the $2 Billion stolen arms and ammunition money. Metuh is one out of many other political elites making the Nigerian populace suffer. The same was the case of Dokpesi. Immediately he was invited by EFCC, people were quick to stand in his defence and claim that he was being witch-hunted because of his involvement in the role he played in the defamation of President Buhari on his AIT channel. But one interesting thing people ignored was, Dokpesi himself did not deny receiving over N2 billion from the office of the National Security Adviser as payment for the airing of election campaign materials for the former president.

Yet our poor youth came out in defence of Dokpesi, who is busy enjoying part of the N2 billion Naira paid into his account with his family. Sadly, our youth are not asking why Dokpesi and his management collected payment for election campaign for PDP from the office of the National Security Adviser. How is this witch-hunting?

For God sake, these people are not denying the receipt of these monies. They have admitted to have received these monies. Some have refunded part (or all) of the money. Some have their cases in court. Some are claiming that they did not know the source of the money. What a silly argument! When they got alerts, did they not know where it came from? When they sat to have meetings on what and what will be done with these monies, did they not discuss where the monies were coming from?

I am not surprised why people like Fani-Kayode were so quick to come out to claiming that they did not know where the monies were coming from or that they asked very well to ascertain where and who was giving them the money. Another silly argument! Why should campaign money be transferred into their private accounts? Why should Fani-Kayode start making clarification long before he was even invited for his role in the squandering of campaign funds? I think it is just the case of a guilty person trying to vindicate himself from a criminal act. They say a clear mind fears no accusation. Fani-Kayode should have waited for the time to come before going online to vindicate himself of his involvement in the squandering of arms money used for political campaign.

He knew his turn was going to come so, in order to paint himself like a saint, he started by castigating the present government so that by the time he would be invited and arrested, it would be said that he was arrested because he was speaking openly against the present government.

On the question of why are PDP members the only ones charged. Well, the Federal Government was under the PDP government, not APC. PDP controlled the ministries, boards, parastatals, etc. It wasn’t the APC government. Some would ask, why are they not questioning Tinubu, etc? Well, Yar’Adua and Jonathan were in power yet did not send EFCC to get Tinubu. Why did that happened? I am not claiming that APC party stalwarts and members are saints or were never involved in corrupt practices. However, I think it is irrational to say that, we should leave PDP members who obviously stole monies from the coffers of the Nigerian people as long as we were not going to go after APC members who also stole money. Is it not better to get some from these thieves than getting nothing at all?

We are seeing these much revelations only from monies illegally squandered from the office of the National Security Adviser. They have not started on NNPC, Ministry of Works, Transport, etc. We should wait and see how things go. The present administration is still young. Time will tell. Witch-hunting or not, people have stolen money, many of them have admitted, and we want them to refund these monies back to where they were taken.
However, my pity is for poor Nigerians who have been blinded with ethnic sentiments, religious bigotry, irrational and uncritical thinking by corrupt political elites thereby making them unable to see the sufferings that they are going through or remove themselves from the shackles of intellectual slavery. It is high time you all opened your eyes to see things the way they should be. When these men and women steal our monies, they do not think of us. They only think of themselves and families. They leave us and our children to suffer.

I pray that God punish those evil people who suggested and advised the former president, Goodluck Jonathan to instruct and approve the use of monies meant for arms and ammunitions to fight against insurgency in the North-East that has left thousands dead and millions homeless for his election campaign. Jona no try at all.

This is my thought.

    1. I stopped reading when you started saying dokpesi is enjoying his 2bn loot.
Gej raised over 23bn in donations alone. Thats aside money the pdp also raised from Expression of interests forms sold.
Mind you, okupe said Metuh was paid from fund donations and not from the onsa so pls stop peddling lies here.
Wait ooo...pls stella, tell me no one has paid for advert on your blog through someone else before?
If someone is owing me and he says go and meet stella korkus for the money, i should be asking questions like is the money legit abi?

    2. Thank u very much poster. You have covered all angles of this matter intelligently. But Hold on, you'll get a lot of bashing even after you have succinctly dissect each case to the letter without bias.

It'll behoove us as Nigerians to view matters critically without sentiments, so that we can make balanced judgements and proffer possible solutions.

There is no ignorance in law. Each must answer to his own. Why should anyone be receiving "official monies" in their private accounts? It means they had no intention to audit those payments. None of them knew that a day like this would come, when they'd be asked to account for what they considered "free money" for campaign. Abeg let me stop here before I start. Especially with FFK who claims to know the law and the consequences therein.

    1. Mr Abubakar, pls I ve few questions for you pls. Were you aware that GEJ raised 23billion naira for his campaign? Dr Doyin said the money was from GEJ campaign funds? How did APC raised money for their campaign? Do you know how much Fashola, Amaechi, Rochas, Osun governor and other politicians raised for PMB campaign? You all re hypocrites

    2. If APC governors also stole money, does it make the stealing of PDP right? That is the question. The writer admitted that he doesn't think APC stalwarts and party members are Saint or not corrupt. Stealing is stealing. Whether PDP or APC. That is the point. You are doing what the writer is cautioning us against. Supporting thieves who are filling their bank accounts with stolen wealth. I am sure your family is a victim of the suffering Nigerians are going through.

    2. Don't mind them. FFK that was starving before he saw the quick opportunity to make cool cash during that election. He was opening teeth upandan after he prevailed over Jonathan's conscience and convinced him behind closed doors that he could use his social media power to retain him in office. Oh, what a joyful season it was for FFK.
Do we not remember how he was caught sneaking in and out of aso rock, after he lambasted Jonathan and called him all sorts of names oh, but he went quietly to beg the man, that was when the job came fiam.

So imagine the same man coming to tell us that he specifically asked where the monies given him came from? Yet he received it in his personal account oh. Toor

Don't we all know this ex PDP members looted? Dont we know it was this looted money they used in campaigning for Buhari? So why his he not arresting his own people. Please if you her not being paid to write this nonsense i think you should stop wasting your MB defending this people knowing well that amachi, fashola, tinubu's children are in U.S flexing their fathers stolen money..

    1. You're the sick individual. When PDP was sharing they did not think a day will come when they'll have to give account and that day is here. Same will happen to amaechi and co, it's only a matter of time. As a patriotic nigerian I'd expect that you'd be happy that something is being done to some thieving individuals even if it's not all but being the sick individual that you are, I expect you to reason otherwise

You're a Biafran. It's a fruitless journey to expect sense or reason from any of you. I'm talking about biafrans, not igbos. That's you, James, portable viv. Love me jeje, sexiest mother, that useless one that was crying over birthday and co.

It's not a coincidence that you guys consistently make some of the most retarded comments on this blog. You can call someone retard but fail to look in the mirror.

Anyway I don't expect much. You guys are so filled with hate that you had to evacuate sense to make room for more hate. Everything is tribal and everyone else wrong and stupid except for you and yours. That's what biafra stands for, unrepentant hate and arrogance. The funny thing is you guys are always the first to call Gods name, as per na you holy pass. How ironic

As far as I'm concerned even donald trump is a biafran. You all talk anyhow, hate other groups/tribes, talk about how good you are in business and, most common of all, are so dim witted.

Take some solace in the fact that you might have your 1st biafran president by the end if the year. But know that the world will continue to view you as the spiteful, ungodly creatures that you are

  7. The writer did well but I have few questions for him,is it fighting of corruption by arresting them that is the sole aim of this administration? You said why they arrest PDP members is because they were the previous government. What about those PDP members that cross carpeted to APC? Are they now saints and corruption
free because they are now APC? And why is Saraki's trial being played like candy crush? I am a non-partisan by the way.

Nice write up, and like u said PDP not APC were in power so investigating and apprehending any culprit is the right step and I must add saying why didn't they go after APC governors or tinubu , how many people governors have they apprehended and if they were what where they charged for ?, was for embezzlement of state funds? No so these government from a rational view is going after money embezzlement at the federal level and that is why the argument of witch hunting is stale. I am not an APC nor PDP follower all I want and pray for is Nigeria to great.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse! One cannot commit a crime and thereafter begin to say he never knew it was a crime. Even if they didn't know the source of the funds, all happenings around them was more than enough to tinker their brains if they're actually straight forward people. Imagine being in an organization, all of a sudden ur boss begins to share money (not ur salary) calling it all sorts of names, u're not supposed to collect it, mind u these monies are not small amounts. Some witnesses have said they never did any job for the government yet money was given to them.

I sorry u ppl doing online voltron and defending whether APC or PDP is innocent, even if petrol is 1000 per liter e no go shake dem. Nigerian youth we better wake up from our slumber and start to fight for our collective good and d good of our children. We shld stop asking why are u witch hunting and start asking where are d good roads, where are d economic polices to favor d agricultural sector. Start to ask them the important questions that affect u and I. They wld use all dis political witch hunting propaganda to blind our eyes and we wld start to forget to hold dem accountable for the real issues dt need to b dealt with. I wish I had d physical and natural energetic charisma to pull crowds and ask questions in public forums I wld hv championed my idea of change. It is so sad. We don't even have any body who can speak for us whether on any of d social media platforms, we hv allowed ourselves to b divided into either APC or PDP it's just too sad instead of one youth front fighting for our survival and improvement of our welfare. We are now so money hungry, dt if u eat 100k of corrupt money u wld b happy and can say anything in defense of a thief who stole 100 million dollars and saw u fit to recieve 100 thousand naira. Chaiiiii. I knw I hv written an epistle and a lot of ppl may not read but I am so heart broken concerning d youth of Nigeria.

Bloody psycophant ,you think you will gain mileage by praising Stella first? Amaechi,no steal? Where did APC get the money for election from? Na manna from Heaven bah? The only thing correct about this ASSOCIATION OF POWERFUL CRIMINALS ( APC) is that they are smart in selecting their team. They divided NLC to water it's power before coming inboard now Femi Adesina with his position as former guild of editors president has all editors in his Armpit. A beg leave that gist!
See the threats FG and even Labour minister issued on strike, outright disregard for Nigerians. Nobody is fighting now cos we are cowards.
If they are serious, they should probe everybody including Tinubu.
Why did they just find a girl out of 200 chibok girls shortly after fuel hike? Diversionary antics. God will arise for Nigeria and fight out battle; He will expose you all.

  20. Mr. Abubakar had some point, but you ignored the obvious. Where did the APC get their own campaign funds from? why is their own source of funds not been probed? why is it only PDP and whoever was not in support of Buhari that gets arrested? what PDP did (money sharing is wrong) but the way Federal govt/ EFCC is handling the issues too is not the right way. All these "polithievecians" we are breaking our head for don't deserve it, they are fighting for their pocket and not us. All I am saying is if you claim to be fighting corruption, let it be a total fight, not one sided. There should be no sacred cow.

Sometimes I see the comments some of our youth make on these blog its puzzles me. They don't understand subsidy, devaluation, economy, corruption. They just follow the trend of criticizing the government. But they don't get it that this is the only Government that have the GRACE to change this country for BETTER NIGERIA.

Doyin Okupe never said they knew the money was going from security funds but rather funds raised from PDP Campaign Funds and they meeting was never in Dasuki’s Office or was Dasuki in the Meeting.
This Govt is not fighting Corruption and cannot fight it because it was formed from corrupt Money from New PDP Members (Amechi, Atiku, Obasanjo, Rochas, etc) and State funds Stolen from APC Governors (Tinubu, Aregbeshola, Fashola, Fayemi, etc).
Where did they APC Campaign Funds come from or did APC use PAPER for their own campaign?
