Deputy Governor Of Edo State Escapes Assassination Attempt...

Gunmen on Saturday opened fire on the Edo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Odubu, and his entourage.



Odubu escaped death by the whiskers when the gunmen shot at him 5 times in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state .

The incident happened at the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Auchi as the deputy governor was receiving a delegation, The Nation reports.

The attack took place a few minutes after Governor Adams Oshiomhole and Odubu left a party organised by Damian Lawani, representative of the Estako Central Constituency in the House of Assembly.

The gunmen reportedly invaded the secretariat and opened fire on the deputy governor and others at the meeting. Five persons were said to have been critically injured, including the Guard Commander of the Deputy Governor’s Police team who covered his boss during the invasion.

    Read on a news website about the governor accusing the deputy of taking his name to a juju house......is it a case of the witch cried last night and the child died...

    Three possible scenarios...
    1.The governor's....ehm...loyalists set this up to make way for the installment of a puppet OR
    2.The deputy governor set this up to look like a victim and gain public sympathy ahead of his future travails OR
    3.A neutral emerging powerhouse that recognises the deputy's influence... and may be threatened by his future political moves...and would want to grab the state soon.

    Gotta love politics.

    No, the guard shouldn't have done that but perhaps Odubu was his only source ams as things stans now, only hope of livelihood. This one they are trying to kill the man when he's almost leaving office, I smell something fishy.
