    3. When people say Buhari is fighting corruption, I get pissed honestly.
With subsidy removal, Jonathan sold petrol at #87, Buhari is selling at #145.

Jonathan budgeted 1bn for feeding, Buhari budgeted 1.7bn.

Jonathan spent 1.4bn to service all presidential jets in one year, Buhari spent 7bn for same purpose in 6 months!

Jonathan spent 8m on each international trip, Buhari spends an average of 55m on each trip.

Buhari does not have an honorary WAEC, but has an honorary PhD from a university that has no PhD students and not approved by NUC... yet Buharists respect his NEPA Bill more than Jonathan's PhD.

Buhari used his secondary school's principal recommendation letter to become head of state, and again used court affidavit to become president and no one reminded him that these are the height of corruption.

Please how does someone fight corruption by being extremely corrupt?

We are waiting for his list of looters tomorrow... we are waiting to see Amaechi, Fashola and Tinubu's name. But I doubt if those names will be on that list because they are his cohorts.

    3. In one opinion 1 year is not even enough to fight corruption and destroy the whims that's been eating up Nigeria. Our value system has been destroyed. It takes time to rebuild . We should be thankful we that we have a President that's even serious about sanitizing the process and rebuilding Nigeria. The era of free money is gone. The rules are being applied strictly. But hardworking and innovative Nigerians will meet success. Quit waiting for the government to bring down the fuel price. Get innovative, get creative, think outside the box and quit being mentally lazy.

Perhaps Buhari should have entered office and kept quiet like the others. Maybe he should have just quietly taken his own share of the national cake, and after 4 years, stroll out of aso rock and allow another person continue from where he stops. That is what some Nigerians are suggesting. Smh.

    1. Ain't you plain daft..
      16yrs or looting indeed
Yet in those 16yrs was president obasanjo who also inherited a fallen economy. Do you know crude oil price was so low when he became president. Do you also remember that the treasury had been cleared by abacha..

So what 16yrs of looting are you talking about?? When we have had the likes of ibb, abacha and the rest loot the economy dry. So why not start counting from then..

Obasanjo inherited a fallen economy with no money and low oil price but you didn't hear him going up and down and complaining and making noise. Rather he got to work. Need I remind you crude oil price had fallen then just like now but he managed to steer the ship amidst hardship. Until the price of crude started going up. Even before the price improved, no one was suffering from abject poverty. As he knew about the economy. And need I remind you he stepped down without owing any country. He paid all the debts accumulated even before he was president and while he was president...

You daft lots chose a man who could those in Malta people of Martina, someone who didn't know Germany and called it West Germany, someone who knew nothing about open and said he was going to make crude oil price stable like that was in his power. Someone who didn't know the determinant factor of dollar and promised to make a dollar to a naira. Someone who said nothing like subsidy existed because when didn't make his own research to find out.this is a man you kept the economy of Nigeria in his hands and expect change??

Please go back to 1983-84 and read up. Read up about the last time he was in power and you will see this was the same pattern. Hardship everywhere and so much suffering. It took and overthrownmenr for things to get better. He has no fucking clue and plan and daft people still go about hailing him expecting it to get worst before it gets better. You lots are hunch of fools..

A stack illiterate can not do anything to an economy whether the price of crude is high or low.

    2. I love u! Too much sense in one comment.

    3. Hahahaha! You educated 'literate' person that can't spell. I hear you.

    4. Obasanjo inherited a fallen economy but not a monoeconomy. Then, even though the price of crude oil had fallen, we still had agriculture, rubber, cocoa, and other raw materials as means of income and foreign exchange thus we didn't feel the oil slump. But between that time and now, oil has become our ONLY source of income hence any fall in its price affects our economy so badly. Try and educate ur self instead of exhibiting ur dreadful ignorance. Ode!

    5. Anon 10:13.. How did things better when he was overthrown? Wasn't it not the IBB regime that started the process of institutionalizing corruption and destroying Nigeria? Buhari has always stood on the side of a greater Nigeria. How on earth can one service chief be receive 570 million naira monthly? So you have a bunch of Nigwrians receiving billions monthly out of doing nothing. As an economist I know that wealth is created by economic activity. In an ideal society there's no such thing as free money. Money comes from economic activity and creativity.

      Delete
    6. Even the so called obasanjo was not directly responsible for economic decisions in the country. That's the job of his economic team composed of finance minister, CBN governor, minister of budget etc. The same applies to buhari. So whether he is an illiterate or cattle rearer is irrelevant. He acts on suggestions and advice from his team of highly trained and experienced economists.
      Ode!

Every sector needs to be sanitize, Nigerians need to have a new mind set towards everything, we should start this crusade of clean up from us as individual. We stop taking unnecessary opportunities to exploit one another in our various businesses. Stop bringing in fake goods because of money not minding the out come of it, let's stop the encouragement of corruption by our attitudes and crying witch hunt.

  4. The market man and tomato woman too are paid opposition who dont want success?

He did what he accused others of. He ignored the tangible and is chasing shadows. What corruption has been fought when there is still massive looting, padding of budget, police still collect bribe, customs still assist smugglers, jobs are still given to elites' kids, lecturers still collect sex and money for grades... what govt parastatal has changed its ways? All I see is change of corrupt people and replacing them with 'known' friends who we dont know.

Ali Baba, your logic is erroneous. Please stick to comedy. How can you feel that "Because if the precedent is set and it is clear, anyone who comes back into government would have to comply!"" Are you dull or worse? Whoever obeys precedents here? Didnt Jonathan set precedent of obeying court orders and everyone felt, Buhari would have to follow? Havent you seen how quickly things change in Nigeria usually? Tafa Balogun was made an example of, yet his successors still looted. Odilli looted heavily but it didnt deter Wike. You think if Buhari leaves, the next man will feel compelled to follow his ways, whether real or pretencious. If you think its by changing people and not by reforming institutions and methods, youre actually very dull and carry on in the usual belligerence of big social media know-it-all celebs. Even in your media sector, you saw the deadwood Buhari appointed as NTA DG. How does that uplift and reform a dead channel? Point to me any real reforms Buhari carried out to ensure corruption doesnt linger, if not, keep quiet and accept the scorecard.

    10. Anon 10:51 you're the foolish one here...how can y'all say he's fighting corruption when Amaechi is a minister? Is it only corruption he was voted in to fight. Bloody hypocrite!

      Delete
    11. Anon 10:51. I am also very disappointed in his opinion. And also corruption is already part of d norm that is why u see many hv no problem with the fact dt dere is corruption, as long as dey are not suffering abeg tiff if u wan tiff. It's not deir problem. Smh. No forward thinking. That is why they wld praise politicians who wld gv them 100k instead of 1 million naira that they are entitled to. Our general mindset as a nation has to b worked on. It is just toooo poor. There is no difference btw the way our parents thut and the way we do. Mental slavery @ its peak.

      Delete
    12. So after everything Bonaparte typed up there, anonymous 10:51 and 12:49 chose to understand it to mean that she thinks corruption should not be fought since it is a norm? Smh.

She simply thinks reforms must be made in all sectors before we will have a corruption free economy that will be passed on from one President to the other.

In other words, until every part of the economy is worked on including his supporters and cronies(Amaechi and co) the fight for corruption might end with just recovering stolen funds and when the next set of politicians come in the looting continues.

I frankly hope both of you understand this? Take away the attack and the feeling that people are against "change" and understand deep analysis.

      I pray I didn't waste my time.

      Thank you.

  14. My opinion Stella Kork:
If President Buhari really wants to fight as he proclaims, then
1)... Le him institutionalize the fight process. Set up audit reforms to cut across all strata and personality circle, irrespective of your political party membership or affiliations. Let it run on auto pilot because for now, it's still a personal vendetta from A-Z if you recall what happened in the 80's between Late Chief Saraki and the then Buhari, then you have little to imagine about Senator Bukola Saraki's case and Dasuki Gate.
2)...Year in year out stories abound about the rot in the oil sector? And now Buhari wants to stop it and so why is there no Petroleum Industry Bill yet passed into law? What is stopping the Executive from doing that to stem the rot?
3)...a whole One year and the administration is still in bickering and campaign mode, continuously laying the blame on previous government. Till when?

Alibaba is seeing and knows that the move to fight corruption is on, no doubts about that but what legal process is being adopted? NONE.
Everything is on same you are our political enemy *we go show una* level. I don't expect much for now, till the laws are passed.

There is no country in the world that doesn't have corruption issues. A few years ago, a big scam was exposed in the British parliament. Did they die? An investigation was carried out and the ones found guilty of wrong doing were punished. Did the country shut down because of it? Nope. So why are we fighting corruption and have a total shutdown? Yet the minds of the average Nigerian is still corrupt. By all means fight corruption, but do it as part of a wholistic reform. Go to any ministry and ask what has changed. Absolutely nothing. Except for names of ministers and the names of the companies getting contracts. Let it not shock you when you hear of a bigger scam than Dasukigate while Oga is blindly chasing shadows.

    4. Chaiiiiiii, are Nigeria and Uk the same? Do they hav the same statistics? Do they hv such a wide spread corruption. I wld hv listened or answered u,if u had compared us to a country whose corruption is as bad as ours. There is no country that corruption thrives that is great or even manageable. This is d singular reason why most African countries are still backward. We accept corruption as a way of life. If tackling corruption and bringing it to d barest minimum wld require us to suffer a bit then so be it. My own is that govt shld cut their own personal expenditure. I can't call their expenses corrupt bcos according to the law they are getting what dey shld. But they shld talk to deir salary offices and co. To cut down their regular entitlements, slash den by 1/2.

Corruption underscores every other meaningful implementation. All the institutions here are bedeviled with severe level of corruption.

The economy hardship comes because of painful decision that must be taken else our economy will collapse, due to total fall in oil price. Let's not be so ignorant of all these things.

    1. So after Buhari is done been the president what next?? Does it stop the next president from looting or makes him follow his foot path?? If you think it makes him follow his foot path then you are a joker. Then it means you haven't read about other precedents who followed their own path and not that of the person who handed over to them..

Then again what has fighting corruption got to do with the economy?? All the money recovered what the hell are they doing with it?? Efcc claimed to have collected billions of dollars in 6 months, how come the common man is still suffering?? How come the federal government is telling us different story from efcc. Because they said they were yet to collect so much money as most of those people bought assets which are yet to be sold to get the money back but efcc said they have collected billion of dollars in 6 months??

Does fighting corruption stop the nation from moving forward?? And what corruption is been fought please?? Because for one year all we have dealt with is dasuki. Gate. Both the lies and truth of it all. Why are they not following due process in court?? Isn't that corruption too. Why aren't they following court orders?? Isn't that corruption too?? Or is corruption only when it has to do with money?? Are they above the law?? When a higher court has passed judgment why not read by example and do the bidding. Even the president is corrupt. Because corruption is not about stealing money alone. It's about the little things we do that shows we are not following the right steps

    2. @Anonymous J, i couldn't pass the half-truths you posted up there. Check again, all SW states (APC) except Lagos are not paying salaries! Osun is now called "hafsat" (half-salary).
As xhrlted P said, we need institutions, processes, and not disjointed directives based on gut feeling! If you workor have ever had anything to do with Multinationals, you would know that PROCESSES is lifeline for continuity in leadership, in this case, governance.
The suffering is too much, the frustration can be felt, insecurity on all time high and we are talking about "fighting corruption" for 1 year.
Anybody who has the ear of the President should tell him to check the word "multitasking". His Finance Minister should give us a measure of confidence that the economy is not on autopilot.

  21. Well said Alibaba. Corruption is our major problem. We must install corrupt free system among looter's to progress as a nation.
Our system was built on fraud and we are so used to the fraudulent system. You can destroy an infrastructure in 2hours (eg) third mainland bridge but you can't rebuild same infrastructure in 6months. Sadly we love quick fix.
The present government want to overhaul the broken system. If there's no pain in life, there will be no gain. We shall suffer now to enjoy later. I believe in PMB administration, our situation will get better in 2017 then, government will use recovered funds for development.

Government are honest about our situation compared to PDP 16 years of lies.
How can someone come up with the theory of Nigeria being Africa largest economy just by dealing on oil and forex and no form of manufacturing?
That was the greatest scam of all time. There's Mercedes factory in SA, Toyota,VW,Nike,Adidas, and many more and none in Nigeria. South Africans never import like us but yet we are Africa largest economy. How? Serious scam.
Looting is no longer business as usual. In our history, no army general has ever been thrown into jail by any administration for corruption, just imagine the level of looting and recovery. Does it mean we should just leave those with our money to go? I don't get it..
Am just worried about PMB's health, old age is really catching up on him.

    5. See ehn, PMB may be old and fragile, but he will surly leave us a lasting legacy. The man is using old age to correct what the other ones who are physically fit couldn't achieve. Look at it this way, Buhari is over 70.. what exactly does he want again in this life that he hasn't achieved?

He's been president twice.. retired army general who commands respect both home and abroad. What does he want to use money for that he cannot afford? So u see, what he is doing now as president is just to help restore what his children and the rest of Nigerians will enjoy in the future. He is not doing anything for his personal gain, I wish Nigerians will understand this.

If Buhari was in government for selfish reasons, he wouldn't have fallen out with Tinubu who wanted him to do things differently. If all the APC members are at peace with themselves then there's trouble in Nigeria because it means something isn't right. But Buhari blocked party affairs away from his governance because he needs focus to restructure the country. Albeit in a very hard way. Am I, like every other Nigerian not affected by this abrupt change? Hell yea I'm affected too..But I'm looking at the bigger picture.

Those who carry and use the Nigerian passport know what they face at the boarders of other countries when they travel. You are immediately stereotyped as one from a country of corrupt 419ers. Infact they scrutinize ur passport as though it is fake, even as it's a Nigerian passport. They query ur name as though it isn't your real identity. Go and spend any huge amount using ur credit or debit card in a store abroad, and your are investigated like a common thief, ontop of ur own money o. So what Buhari is doing now will change all these humiliation we face home and abroad. At least if he doesn't achieve anything else, he'll remove Nigeria from the list of the most corrupt in the world. Then we can return to our old glory and get our esteem back.

Those who are saying after Buhari leaves, that others that'll take over will still loot. It is if we allow them. If after what we are experiencing today we allow those who'll take over take us back to the days of impunity, then the British need to come back and revoke our independence. Means we are not fit to stand as a nation.

      It can only get better

  23. Nigeria's primary I repeat primary problem is corruption. We are so corrupt that it is almost seen as not a tangible crime. As long as u are in government then u aren't a thief. That is how bad we see corruption. If we don't tackle corruption Nigeria wld never ever leave this current state. At least dere is some movt. Whether forward or backward, it is better than the stagnation we hv become accostomed to. The only problem I hv is dt Buhari shld try to balance up other aspects but we can't blame him with the dwindling resources.
Dear Mr president let us face corruption head on. U hv gotten some money from our past looters but this is d time to also put in a lot of checks and balances to prevent further corruption. Cos it's almost like cutting 1 head off and 3 heads spring up.
Also I think we Nigerian youths are too docile, and we are judging govt based on sentiments and not their works. The energy u ppl are using to defend Jonathan and Buhari u shld use that energy to question the govt. on why dey hvnt slashed deir expenditure, how they intend to keep deir mandate/ campaign promises etc
Thank God,godfatherism has reduced in this tenure but our prayer is for it to b completely eradicated. We hv to do sumthing abt these cabals and godfathers who keep holding Nigeiria to ransome cos they make more money from the strife in this country than d unity. We need investigative journalist to go and fish out this wicked individuals so that jungle justice can b metted out to them and deir familes.
Also president Buhari pls Change ur minister of information, agriculture and finance. Those ppl are not it @ all. If u can change d CBN governor that wld b an added bonus. But these 3 ministers are not sound. I am sorry but that is d impression I get. Especially minister of agriculture. I knw these appointments are politically based,as per settle ur party but dey hv chopped enuf. Time to bring new and better capable hands on board. Just promise then dt d contracts u hv given them wld b implemented, let dem b going. Thank you sir...
As for d Niger delta avengers don't gv any grp of ppl money, go to the towns and villages and develop them properly. NDDC needs to be made to step up their game and dey must be held accountable. NDDC needs to be restructured to make dem more efficient. But don't gv any individuals money. Let NDDC start working on these communities and u won't see if d citizens won't kill d avengers demselves for destroying the good being done for them.
Fulani herdsmen pls president Buhari u hv to tackle them properly though thank a God dere hv bin no recent attacks but I agree that they are boko haram members, cos d Fulani's used to pass before with little or no problems with their host communities so why now. Pls u hv to send ur ppl to investigate them.

  24. @bona tanx so much for that detailed analysis. I don't blame you Ali baba. How can I even blame you wen you sit behind your laptop in the comfort of your fully air conditioned room spewing bullshit. The common man can barely provide one meal for his family, women now resort to stealing food just so they can feed their children, yes is that bad now, People are commiting suicide due to hardship, most civil servants haven't been paid for months now. Children are sent home because parent can't pay their fees. Have your kids been sent home because of fees? Do you know the price of a measure of rice now? How bout beans, garri or a bag of semi? I bet you don't. Mbok if you have got nothing tangible to say just fhuck the hell up. How long will he keep fighting curruption? Was that the only reason people voted for him? Please find a better way of looking for favor from this administration coz this method is quite cheap.
