SENATE Minority Leader, Chief Godswill Akpabio, has distanced himself from some publications in the social me- dia about his purported posters campaigning for the Presidency in 2019.
Media Assistant to the former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Anietie Ekong, on behalf of his boss, urged Nigerians to disregard any of such publications, stressing that they were the hand- iwork of mischief makers, who wanted to create wrong impression in some quarters.
Ekong said Akpabio has no ambition of con- testing for the presidency in 2019 and was not behind such campaigns.
“It is instructive that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he (Akpabio) belongs to, has zoned the presidency to the North by 2019.
The South-South has had its shot at the presidency through Dr Goodluck Jonathan, who handed over to President Muhammadu Buhari barely one year ago. And it is politically impracticable in the present Nigeria to expect another South- South man to aspire to succeed President Bu- hari,” Ekong stated.
While imploring the mischief-makers to desist from actions that tend to heat up the political temperature, the media aide noted that Akpabio, as the senate minority leader, is presently concerned with working with other law makers to enact legislation that would improve the lives and living standard of Nigerians.
“He should not be distracted by a phantom campaign as such ambition only exist in the imagination of the mischief-makers,” Ekong said.

ReplyDeleteAnd if he's to contest what's wrong with that? He is within his right as a Nigerian to contest for presidency. GEJ did his single term and handed over to a northerner who will also do his 4 years so why is compulsory that the next president must be a northerner? Is it their birthright? Anybody from any part of nigeria should feel free to contest the presidency period!
