Actress Rita Edochie Says She Was A Victim Of Child Rape And Lends Her Voice To The Campaign Against Child Abuse.....

Rita Edochie revealed this in an interview on Wednesday in Abuja.
She was a guest at a seminar to end violence against children, and NAN that she was sexually violated at a young age by a family friend.

“I was a victim of sexual abuse; that was when I was in primary six; I was going to the hospital and somebody called me.
“The boy used some diabolic means and sexually violated me; when I could not see my period, I refuse to tell my mother, because she was very strict.
“I love sharing my experience because at the end of the day I succeeded; If I had not succeed, I would not have been able to be saying it,” Edochie said.
She explained that the pregnancy was about seven months before her mother noticed it.

Edochie added that her mother was shocked at the pregnancy because she thought her being strict would not allow such a thing to happen.

“My mother asked how it happened and I told her everything; my brother picked a knife and wanted to kill me, but my mother stopped him.

“It happened that the mother of the boy that violated me was my mother’s friend; the boy’s mother was surprised but the boy denied.
“My mother took me to hospital to abort the pregnancy with a plan of taking me to my grandmother’s place at ‘Ogede’ to stay for one week before returning home.

“I told her I may lose my life in the process; and because she loved me, she then aborted the planned abortion; I feel it was God that spoke through me.
According to the actress, “my mother took care of the baby while I went to school; if not for my mother I would not be where I am today.”

The veteran actress called on parents to communicate regularly with their children and make them their best friends.

“Parents should always listen to their children’s complaints on happenings both in and outside the home.” -Pmnews cullage.

If you have a voice use it..if you are a celeb and you were a victim, speak up to help others, shame no dey inside.

God bless you Rita for speaking up and supporting this campaign. #SayNOToChildAbuse.

    2. Rita Edochie, Chronic Nollywood LESBIAN. How many upcoming actresses have you fucked? It is disheartening that you passed thru this but you joined your male colleagues to Violate desperate underage wannabe actresses.
It is wrong. Rita will stripe you naked with her eyes and it is even worse because most of those girls saw her as a mother (that she used to portray in videos).
Please heal yourself first because right now, you are contributing to the menace in the society. This is not an attempt of defamation, it is a known fact!
Why call out your fellow sexual abusers?
Permit me to use my favourite line. HELLO POT?

    3. @fan emmmanuel, why make such an insensitive and awful comment? Do you know what it means to be abused sexually at a very young age? Some of you allow your holier than though disposition to bear on every issue and in the process you lose all sense of empathy. Your type will blame sexually abused female and accuse them of enabling their abuse!

I was 9 in primary six.I'm sure you were 17 in primary six. That's why you would think there is a possibility the sex was consensual.

    2. sex with a minor is never consensual. Even if she wanted it...it was stil rape cos she was a minor. I know some guys wil say 'catch them young'....thats rape. we have alot of sensitization to do in this country. if a 10yr old girl watches people kissing on tv, nd comes to u to b kissed, will u oblige her? she was a minor. she was raped. period.

  16. Na wa. That was how my neice that is in Jss 3 just 12 years, the boy in her class says he will use TOUCH and GO for her to defile her and make sure she gets pregnant but she did not tell anyone because she was afraid. We thank God that my Bishop saw this when he was praying for my family because she stays with me and told her to hate that boy that is trying to befriend her. I opened mouth. Later i called her and asked her, she said the boy has been looking at her with his side eyes for a long time and she was always afraid. I said SHOOO. I said i will come to your school and make sure i destroy that boy before he destroys you.

Thank God that after the prayer, the boy just hated her for no reason and does not look at her or come near her again. I told her that

I pray that children tell their parents their fears. God help everyone of us.

Thank God for speaking RITA. We pray everyone use what you said to protect their wards.

  19. Anonymous 10:57, you are the problem with Nigeria infact the world. The issue of sexual abuse and rape victims not speaking out is being perpetuated by ppl like you who bully those that try to share their experiences. What kind of a human being will cook up this kind of sordid details of her past if it didn't happen? Ndi mmadu sef.

If indeed she was wild as you insinuated, don't you know that some people handle sexual abuse in different ways. Some get withdrawn and depressed while some have this feeling of self loathing by engaging in sexual promiscuity. Our duty is to help them get better not castigating them. Nawa o

  20. Sexual abuse is closer To d home dan u think. I was a victim too, went to spend tym wit our family frnd after my waec exams. I was raped repeatedly. 21. There are so many bitter people living in this world today and some actually dwell in this blog.Like seriously, shantelle and the rest you guys can actually think to say she is making the story up or has been wayward from when she was young? I am surprised really..if you were a female I would say it is your type that does not pay attention to every detail, na you people when a little girl comes to tell you about something sensitive eg a molestation or abuse, you shoo her way thinking she wants to tell a lie.

Funke Adetuberu once told her story in one of her seminars I attended rcently of how she was raped and got pregnant. Her mom was a very strict person too and yes she did abort the 7MONTHS OLD BABY and so I am not surprised when Rita said she almost aborted the child. According to funke, the baby was still breathing and herself with her cousin(a male) that accompanied her threw the child into a pit laterine. The cousin actually raped her there and then with blood stains on her body and private part not minding whether she just had an abortion...she has kids now, one of which her first born a male to the glory of God is a prophet.

So do not see this as a makeup story..what comes with child abuse is always more than the shame. You live with the pain forever..even as adults when you gbensh a guy and he leaves you without a reason you tend to carry the grudge for the rest of your life except you want to deny it...I will never forget the face of the guy who almost defiled me when I was 7 thank God he never succeeded..these things has been happening since the 90s..thank God for civilisation now where the orientation about child abuse is spreading like fire...
