A University of Lagos first class graduate who scored the maximum 5.0 CGPA, Ayodele Daniel Dada, has received an amazing gift.
On Monday, April 4, Akin Alabi, the CEO of Nairabet, gave the young graduate N1 million as a reward for his academic excellence.
“I am proud to give Ayo Dada N1m as a reward for his efforts. Nice one, son,”the businessman said.
Meanwhile, one of Nigeria’s Telecommunications giant MTN Nigeria also congratulated Ayodele and awarded him with the latest Samsung phone, his own personalized phone number and airtime for 2016.
It would be noted that the young genius is getting more attention and undoubtedly he deserves it.
On March 24, the UNILAG first class graduate was honoured by the House of Representatives a following a motion by the majority leader, Femi Gbajabiamila.
“I believe as leaders and as a country it’s time we start celebrating our successes particularly in a period of great national despondency that has enveloped us for years now. As a House I believe we should recognize, celebrate and commend Mr. Ayodele so as to encourage him and give hope and inspiration to many others,”Gbajabiamila said.
The young guy was amazed and shocked when the lawmakers gave him a standing ovation and took turns to personally congratulate him.

*Hmmm I wont be surprised of this young man eventually relocates because he cannot find a job..I wont be surprised if some other Country 'steals' him and build his talent...#YimuNigerian Govt.

ReplyDeleteHere in Australia no one cares about your GPA. If you don't have a Masters degree, no one will take you serious.
Then they should sponsor him to do a masters!
DeleteAfter masters, no job too. I have told my sister to find her way back to obodo oyinbo. First class in aeronautical engineering and masters in aerospace, she now came back to naija. It is when you see vacancy you go apply.
DeleteIf they offer this guy job, he better grab it with both hands.
He doesnt need a job. The earlier we drop d "job mentality", the better for us all

So what does he need?
DeleteTo become an entrepreneur not a runs professional like you
DeleteOld story, saw dis in nairaland since last week,d nairabet CEO is broadcasting d fact that he gave d guy 1million. The cheque has not cleared oh! No money in d CEO's account. Why not allow the guy to receive the 1million and come tell us himself??
ReplyDeleteYou don't know what you are saying
DeleteGood for him. He ahould use the money to go and stock up fuel in his house and start selling. He will make more than that 1m back
ReplyDeleteLol @ stock up fuel. As black-marketer?
DeleteTalks here and there till they'll forget about him. Can't they just give him a good job? What's phone and airtime when he's idle and not unproductive? What a country!
ReplyDeleteHaving a the highest Cgpa does not mean his talented. He might not even be very sound practically. I know of someone in my department then that was so intelligent but when it comes to putting it into practice the guy they fall hand. What he needs now is exposure. Assuming this guy read something like Engineering, law, computer science, pharmacy or even medicine, I tell you by now he would be gainfully employed. Even mtn will confiscate him. He should go for his masters and maybe major on something that is more practical. He should use his 1m wisely. Masters abroad and not in Nigeria. He might end up working in NIGERIAn prison as I don't know....goodluck to him as he uses his time we'll before we forget him.
ReplyDeleteHe's..

DeleteYour comment doesn't add up. I read environmental science as my first degree and came out with a 2:2. Many people kept saying they can't assist me with a job cos of my degree type and class. I got discouraged assuming my certificate was useless. But guess what? It took ONE employer to see my potentials. Today I have 2 masters degrees and I've just started processes for my PHD. This guy has a high CGPA. He is intelligent and can function in any organization. With psychology, he can work in Human Resources very easily. He doesn't need engineering or computer science to get job offers. Not everyone can read such courses cos the entry in university is very tight. I went from applying for medicine and surgery (trust me I had the necessary grades and cut off marks) to reading environmental sciences. check am? After two years at home I had to go in.
DeleteIt's statements like this that kill the confidence of Nigerian graduates. Psychology is very very useful in many organizations if you don't know. Even Banks!!! Our system had failed many intelligent youths. I hope this system doesn't fail him too.
Mtn should give him a job abeg!
ReplyDeleteBut I like the fact that he's been recognized.
I'm happy for you Dada!
Good for him
ReplyDeleteWhat job do you expect MTN to give a guy with psychology degree! Please Nigerians should stop this blame game and focus on things that matter. This guy should be seeking for scholarships to further his education in a possibly more lucrative field! The truth is usually bitter! My opinion!
ReplyDeleteSee your mouth like lucrative! How can u say psychology isn't lucrative?? Na wa oh!!!
DeleteI'm surprised no foreign NGO has come for him.... he should try and get a masters..
