  5. I can relate with wat she saying, the society is put pressure on young ladies making them lose their self esteem no matter d school and levy of degrees you have if you not married they think something is wrong with I try to avoid such people they weaken ones spirit.

  6. I agree with Toke. No one wants to know what a lady is doing or going through, rather all they want to know is if you are married. Do you blame ladies when they throw themselves on men all in a bid for the guys to put a ring on them? I can excuse the illiterate's for asking about marriage!, but the educated have no reason asking any lady or pushing pressure on a lady to marry.

    3. Friends or family that pressure you to marry do so out of love because by the time you get to 40,most of your mates will be married and you may not get suitors again then you will be the now hiding when teenagers start referring to you as mummy.

  8. I feel her plight...its sincerely difficult. At least its not like she hasn't ever been in one before and it was a terrible experience for her. But at the same time, its a cultural thing. But I think marriage is almost equally as important as other things sha. especially for a woman...if she had a child or 2, it would av been different.

    God help us all tho

  10. I am 33 successful, very pretty, fair, hard working and single, marriage is about meeting the right person you can live with, its not a relationship, ofcourse I want to be married but I am not desperate, I only ask God for the right one, I have met few guys who spoke of marriage but its been lies lies, people wonder why such a very pretty girl like me is still single but they won't understand, some may say character, but no, its just about meeting the right one, everyone says I have a very good heart,I have been unlucky with few that lied,I ask for the right one and God,s grace.

  12. All i have to say is that it is good to be married and have wonderful kids and feel loved But dnt let societal pressure push u into it. Go into marriage because u re ready and that u have seen the right person to marry. If u rush into it u will also rush out. Marriage is not a child's play. No one should have dominion over ur life. Do what makes u happy.

Its better to be single and happy than to be married and sad.

Take ur time and dont listen to the society cos when u will be suffering they will never be there for u.

Dont forget the rich also cry. Choose wisely.

    4. Keep saying no rush in marriage until u try to have a kid at 40 with all the complications. Know what you want from your teenage years I don't mean know the kind of man u want, I just mean if u want many men to date you first or not. Believe me if you go Into relationships without knowing what you want u won't get anywhere.

I always said I will marry my first boyfriend my friends thot it was a joke but I refused to date anyone until he came and I made the best decision ever now married with 2kids. The time teenagers spend with boyfriends that they sleep with is ridiculous why not pray, plan, prepare(by getting yourself up in life thru school or whatever). Love only

  21. Alot of ladies on their own bring on unecessary pressure to themselves, by ticking a date/yr on their imaginary calendar & setting alarm clock on their uterus for a foetus, when things finally don't go as planned then they start to feel the heat from friends & family, even when someone is admiring ur fingernails, you'd assume they're on the lookout for an engagement ring.
Remember no one can make u feel depressed without ur consent.

For the first time I see a little sense in what James said,i disagree that it's all single women thhough.most wome who are still single can attribute it to bad character, sorry but it's true.some womenn cause a lot of trouble, some keep friends like it's running out of fashion, some are demanding and some are loose:dating married men all over the place.trust me there's one guy watching and lamenting that if only she knew....i know a lady who has a problem with ALL her younger brother's wives!none is good.she stands in her father's compound and curses dem.she is above 40 yrs no husband!when a man comes he just loses intrest.one dayy I toldd her that madam, are u sure u are not the one driving these men away?the way u shout and fight everyday word goes around oh!baaaaaaaaad character!

  31. Destiny is not the same, u may get married at age 21 and won't be happy bcus u r with d wrong person, u may not even have kids so early till maybe seven or eight years later, dou we do not pray for that, while someone will be 32 and get married, give birth immediately while you that got married earlier will still be hoping.

  34. It's a tough world Toke. Very tough world. Every girl needs to go the rungs with someone as partner forget the I Dont Want To Marry bullcrap. Na wash.

Loneliness is evil. Companionship is sweet. But there is need to exercise caution that is where prayers come on. That pressure has always been there, it didn't start today.

If you're Igbo and you live and work in Lagos and is single biko, if you travel down east and you don't see any of your friends around your neighbourhood, don't ask an elderly person d whereabouts, ask young ones, because the answer is humiliating, 'Oh Nkoli? Onugo kwa di'. Very short answer that sends a painful memory to your brain. That means, NNE na only you remain o, Nkoli is married off too. Whether she is crying in the marriage or not, e no concern them.

You have started a good turn around now in d MFM ko? Hold on to your faith. I've been there before, so tay some of my cousins got married, they didn't give me aso ebi sef, I was sorting suitors till they started sorting me too, na that time my eye clear. Na MFM settle my matter. Today I am used as a reference, 'you must marry well' dey comot for people mouth while advicing their daughters.

God is for everybody. Pray and listen to the prayer warriors. Let them guide you. Marriage is honourable.

  44. So true, the pressure is not nice! The next thing after university is marriage, regardless of your age! Unfortunately, this pressure drives ladies to marry men who don't appreciate their worth and the lucky ones find their "soul mates". No one would mind the pressure if marriage was sweeter than cookie dough ice cream with caramel and whipped topping... but it's not even sweet. it's a life long institution with alooot of hurdles... So please people should chill.

  46. You guys should stop listening to this funny celebrities oh! they will just mislead you guys.

So far our society is concerned, we women are expected to equalise. Stay there and be saying they are mounting pressure on you. Won't you feel happy hearing someone call you "mama, mummy, mama, my best friend, and mom"? Be consoling yourself with we are been pressured while your mates are looking forward to collecting their own share of what they will use in marrying their daughters.

See Omotola and others as they are enjoying their marriage with grown up children kai! I envy that woman sha. She can never make such rubbish statement to young women out there because her marriage is beautiful. Na only women wey dey suffer go dey discourage other women with their mumu dirty talk. Always looking for those who will join them in their auntie gwegs state.

If you are young and not yet married, please jettison these mumu talk. Marriage is sweet and beautiful if you choose wisely.

  48. What she said is totally correct. The pressure on women between the ages of 22 and above to get married is just too much. I don't know how we as a people got this far. Even when some women are in bad marriages, they'll still get advice to stay put as a divorcee has no place in society or a divorcee will be seen as a failure.

One of my neighbours asked her 20yr old daughter who recently gained admission to come back home with a husband if she finds one while in school. I told the woman to relax naau haba. She said she has to tell her now as she's young o cos she doesnt want to start running upandan from church to church when she is 30. I was really amazed at her saying.

Preach on Toke. Message well received.
