Senator Hope Uzodinma Warns His Colleagues To Quit playing politics with Lagos-Calabar rail,

The lawmaker representing Imo West District in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has warned his colleagues against “playing politics” with the Lagos-Calabar Rail project.

While commending the Federal Government on the project as appropriated in the 2016 budget, he stated that the project when executed would open up business activities within the Lagos/Calabar axis and improve the well-being of the people of the area.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by his aide; Mr. China Nwaneri, which also called for the timely completion of the ongoing Owerri-Ohaji -Elele dual carriage way to ameliorate the present hardship faced by commuters using the road.
The senator appealed to the Ministry of Niger Delta and the contractor handling the project-Arab Contractors to do everything possible to resolve the issues hampering the early completion of the road for the benefit of commuters who are largely members of his constituency.

While regretting the delay in the completion of the project which he attributed to funding, he said: “This is one of the major projects that will link Imo State with other coastal states of the Niger Delta and trigger economic development. Therefore, the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta and the contractor-Arab Contractors must do everything possible to ensure timely completion.”

Uzodinma, who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Aviation urged the Ministry and the contractor to resolve all issues and accelerate work on the project before the rainy season sets in.

“Commuters using the road waste man hours on the road because of its deplorable state and this is not good for their economic well-being and that of Imo and the neighboring states. The Federal Ministry of Niger Delta and the contractor must therefore ensure that it is completed timely to save the people from the night mare they pass through daily on the road,” he said.

    1. Stella the lagos calabar rail has been a case of debate for over 8 years. This was meant to improve Calabar free trade zone and reduce the imports activities from Lagos ports too. The East-West road passing through Rivers state is also another infrastructural idea that has been "in the news" since 1900. It was supposed to reduce the burden on Benin-Ore road. Yet nothing!! Everyday story story.
Even the abuja they brag about? That city should be a mini-dubai with the amount of money that goes around in it. Yet some parts of it are still a village. Abeg I tire for nigerian government.
Even simple things they can stuck to a plan and get it right.

  7. He is here blabbing about appealing to d Ministry of Niger Delta to resolve d issue hampering d completion of Ohaji - Elele dual carriage becos d commuters are members of his constituency meanwhile his hometown,d two major roads dat takes him to his village are badly damaged at one spot going to 2years now and he has said or done nothing for it to be repaired. If he volunteers to do it with his resources,it won't cost him much. All dis ones are political talk ka odikwa ka odi concerned. Mr Senator go and fix the road in your home town cos it is shameful how u have turned a blind eye to it.
