Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Monday said he has fully fulfilled the provisions of the law on declaration of assets by public officers.
Saraki was reacting to the claim made by Panama-based offshore provider, Mossack Fonseca and shared by the International Consortium of Investigation Journalists (ICIJ) that he failed to declare assets belonging to his wife, Mrs Toyin Saraki.
The embattled Senate President said he had on several occasions declared his assets, including properties owned individually by himself and his wife.
“Furthermore, the law only requires a public officer to declare both his own assets and those held by his spouse and his children under 18 years of age. The law does not require a public officer to declare assets held by the spouse’s family.
“It is not expected by the law that a public officer should declare such assets held in the spouse’s family estate. Indeed, the Code of Conduct form does not make provision for declaration of spouse’s family assets”, he stated in a statement issued on Monday.

Hmmm this man has been insisting from day one that he is innocent yet this is not going away..I wonder who is lying between him and his accusers!
Nothing will come out if it. All this media trial. Who have they convicted , yet we keep reading about millions n billions being stolen. Its well...
ReplyDeleteHis wifes family are billionaires, that makes it easy to launder money in their names.
DeleteFrom his statement, those moneys and accounts belong to his wifes families
Which one is media trial? An international organisation released information globally and you're saying media trial. Well Iceland is staging it's biggest protest ever biggest of this "media trial" after hearing their prime minister is corrupt but you're happy with corrupt individuals continuously oppressing you and yours. You're probably one of those people who thinks one day your turn will come to chop. May God never allow you near any influential position unless you repent from your ways
DeleteAnd d drama continues
ReplyDeleteThey should just allow him rest nau
ReplyDeleteHow will nigeria ever progress when there are so many individuals like you who say criminals should be left alone? Better receive sense and emancipate yourself from mental slavery. It's a good thing your opinion is irrelevant
DeleteRest keh?..
DeleteNemesis will catch up with the morraf##ker sooner or later
Indeed, the same Panama papers over fraud/money laundering/undisclosed offshore accounts has already led to Iceland's PM's resignation today due to massive protests by the citizens. Note: due to massive street protests by its citizens. Question: which way Naijas? What are Naijas willing to sacrifice or actually do to effect same changes? QED@ATM
DeleteObviously Saraki is d one lying...
ReplyDeleteIt's not by accident that Nigeria has more illiterates than literates,it's exactly as d elites want.If he's innocent why then is he trying desperately to stop d trial from going on?
Deletestella u sound like just d illiterate u are,is it on d pages of newspapers that d number 3 most powerful man n number 1 lawmaker defends his innocence? What happened to d rule of law?
DeleteDon't mind the useless theif
DeleteThe Panama revelation is real! Very real! If he denies others, he shouldn't even bother denying that. Does he think such massive damage will be made if there is no proof? Putin hasn't denied his but Out Saraki will always deny as usual.
ReplyDeleteOne question though, why are the Americans protected, why weren't their names mentioned? America always protecting their own.
End time looter
ReplyDeleteTime will tell.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for whoever is going to say that ICIJ is after him,cos we don't have integrity so we assume others don't. Saraki is a thief of global status, Period!
ReplyDeletenemesis will surely catch up with this man! after all he did to Intercontinental Bank Plc! time shall tell
ReplyDeleteGood for him
ReplyDeleteI think the Senate President is telling the truth. His wife is from an extremely wealthy family and she can easily afford to buy houses. Why should she put her father's money in her husband's assets? A woman that is addressed by her father's name must have reasons. Didn't his wife campaigm for female inheritance laws that Stella reported here on this blog?
ReplyDeleteThe Ojoras are broke and that is why Toyin stole with Bukola. Extremely rich my big black ass.
