Broadcast journalism means you'll be exposed to the good, bad and ugly during your career. Yesterday, I visited Agatu Local Government in Benue state to ascertain the severity of the dispute that occurred between the Fulani herdsmen/ cattle rearers and Agatu's indigenous farmers.
According to the local government chairman, about 350 people were killed during this clash that occurred throughout the last week of February (although we could not verify these numbers as every community/village we visited in Agatu suggested a higher figure). Nonetheless, every woman I interviewed had lost either a husband or children, and vice versa for the men. Behind me is just a minor example of the aftermath of the clash.
People complained of no drinking water, no mattresses to lay their head: the clothes they wore are the only belongings they have left. Crops they spent months, even years to harvest were all destroyed, now they have no food to eat. I'll be revealing more information on The Osasu Show in the following weeks to come.. stay tuned. #TheOsasuShow #Broadcastjournalism #SustainableDevelopment #CurrentAffairs #Nigeria #Africa #Europe #AgatuMassacre
God bless her for this
ReplyDeleteOkay
DeleteWhat about Dogo Nahawa in jos in 2011. Fulani herds men killed over 500 people. They tore open the stomach of pregnant women brought out the babies and killed the babies as well. If they see a man on the tree, they will burn down the tree and kill the man. They wiped out a whole community. Fulani's have been killing people in Nigeria and the government has not been able to do something about this. Why?
DeleteIssorite..please ooo if shez anyway from the osawaru igbinedion's family,I think she needs to visit them too and tell him and his son Lucky to return our Edo state stolen money ..tanchu..orishirishi people
DeleteIt is a pity how life can be so mean to lots of people . I know one thing for sure that God isn't asleep
ReplyDeleteIs this journalism? Or she went for excursion. I was expecting a long detail of what happened!
ReplyDeleteDid u read @ll, cos u missed d part where she stated, more information would be released in subsequent shows , tanks
DeleteThis one should go and sit her fat ass down.
ReplyDeleteStella, she better be paying you for all these publicity. At least let some of the stolen funds help SDK ministry, so she can in turn continue to help awon beggars association of SDKB.
Heheheheh not funny :(
DeleteMtcheeeew
ReplyDeleteAnd what is our Johnnie Walker president doing about his lawless brothers? Sad, real sad
ReplyDeleteIt's quite a pity that Nigerians cannot get protected by their government. Walahi Nigeria is the least safe place to live in. To think that the nobody is doing anything about the killings is more disturbing
ReplyDeleteSo with all the damages done,Our first lady n her deputy could only donate 5bags of rice to a whole community. We truly lack shame in Nigeria!
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame you believe this nonsense you just wrote. Pls 250 bags of rice was brought with beverages and oil and vitamins. The 5 bags were the samples taken to the occasion. Please stop spreading lies. P's I'm from Benue state. #MAFO.
DeleteThat's very thoughtful of her.
ReplyDeleteBtw
Buhari should rebuild those communities destroyed by his brothers
Fulani herdsmen have always been a problem in Nigeria, now that their brother is the President, they are having a field day. #smellypeople#
ReplyDeleteMay God bless you, prosper you, and cause his face to shine upon you, Osasu. This is true journalism.. you went where other so called journalist are afraid to go. I look forward to watching the full report. Stay safe out there and I know the goverment will listen now!
ReplyDeleteThe president needs to wake up and put a permanent solution to this crisis. It is also Shame that the the governor of the state lacks interest in the safety and security of life and property of those who voted him to power. Despite the mass killing of his people by the herds men, he only deemed it fit to visit the community after a visit by an international organisation. The governor should be held responsible for the death of the agatu people.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you Osasu, that happens to be my LGA. The government is not doing anything to salvage the situation. Its so sad. May God help us.
ReplyDeleteWeldone Osasu.
ReplyDeleteAt Anon 13:13, has your governor visited Agatu?
