I feel your pains Buhari tells Nigerians at the Vanguard Awards

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday told Nigerians that he was feeling their pains saying that mutterings about the new administration being a scam was far fetched, saying that the one-chance scammers have been driven out of town.

The president spoke at the Vanguard Personality Award ceremony in Lagos where he was jointly honoured with his predecessor, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as Personality of the Year Award, 2015.

2- 2016 BUDGET: Buhari still withholds assent, sends budget details to Ministries for review

From the presidency to the National Assembly and back to the presidency, the 2016 Budget estimate is now domiciled in the respective federal ministries for critical review.

This was after the document had been debated, pruned from its original figure of N6.08 trillion to N6.06 trillion and passed into law by the National Assembly last week.

4- Buhari heads to China to borrow $2bn

President Muhammadu Buhari will visit China on Sunday to sign a loan infrastructure projects deal worth about $2 billion and the low interest loan is to be deployed to finance the N3 trillion deficit in the budget.

Though the exact figure for the loan is yet to be confirmed, the Presidency and Chinese foreign affairs ministry confirmed the visit.

5-I’m not finished with my work for Nigeria – Jonathan

Speaking at Vanguards awards yesterday, Jonathan represented by a former Minister of State for Works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye said:

I believe Jonathan will be given a better verdict by history.

“He says I should tell everybody that he is not yet finished with his good works in Nigeria, he has left office but he is not tired and therefore, he said I should announce to this audience that very soon, he will be launching his foundation.

6-Jos court sacks Amaju Pinnick, NFF appeals

A Jos court has sacked the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football

Federation (NFF) led by Amaju Pinnick and ordered Chris Giwa to take over the

leadership of Nigerian football, saying he was duly elected in 2014.

Meanwhile, immediately it got the verdict of the court in Jos, the Nigeria Football Federation swiftly moved to file an appeal, a motion to vacate the order and a motion for a stay-of-execution against the judgement of the Jos High Court, which on Friday decided to re-list a case brought by Ambassador Chris Giwa against the validly –elected NFF administration of Amaju Melvin Pinnick. In re-listing the case for hearing on 30th May this year, the court shockingly also restored the order that the election and Congress of 30th September 2014 be nullified.

However, since an appeal, a motion to vacate the order and a stay-of-execution

has been filed, on the same day as the judgement, the status quo remains.

7-OSIBANJO PRESIDES OVER

Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo presided over an emergency Federal

Executive Council (FEC) meeting which held at the Council Chambers of the

Presidential Villa yesterday.The meeting started at 11am and no official reason was given as to why the President was not at the meeting when

state house correspondents filed out of the Council Chambers for the closed door session. At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, said that the emergency Federal Executive Council meeting was predominantly to avail the ministers the opportunity to study the details of the budget as it concerns their various ministries before the assent of the

President. He said that the budget was still work in progress.

The Nigerian Institute of Management, NIM, yesterday, lamented that the unending fuel crisis witnessed across the country is having a negative impact on the economy, while it disclosed that the crisis is mainly a management issue.
