1- DSS Arrests Founder of Boko Haram, JAMBS

In its efforts to stem the tide of terrorism in the country, the Directorate of Security Services, DSS has arrested one of the founders of Jama’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid Da’wah Wa’l-Jihad (Boko Haram) and later the Amir of the break-away faction, Jama’at Ansarul Muslimim Fi Biladi Sudan (JAMBS).
His name is Mohammed Usman, widely known as Khalid AL-Barnawi, alias Kafuri, Naziru, Alhaji Yahaya, Mallam Dauda or Alhaji Tanimu.


2-NAFDAC Seizes N40m Worth  Fake, Unregistered Drugs, Seals Pharmacies in Osun

Operatives of National Agency for Food,  Drug Administration and Control  (NAFDAC) have sealed some pharmacies  in Osogbo and Ilesa in Osun State after  confiscating huge quantum of fake and  unregistered drugs worth over N35  million in the State.


3-Bloodbath Averted: Five Female Suicide Bombers Killed in Maiduguri

What could have been a black Friday was averted in Maiduguri on Friday as five female suicide bombers were intercepted by members of the youth vigilante group, popularly called Civilian JTF in Borno State.
However, a similar statement from the military claimed soldiers were the ones that intercepted the suicide bombers and neutralised them with injuries to three of their men while unexploded improvised Explosive Devices were safely detonated.


4-FEC Meets, Reviews Budget Details

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo Friday presided over the emergency meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to scrutinise the 2016 budget details forwarded to the Presidency by the National Assembly on Thursday.
President Muhammadu Buhari who had earlier summoned the meeting was however conspicuosly absent.


5-Christians Tackle El-Rufai over
Muslim Majority Claim in Kaduna

Recent claim by the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai that Muslims constitute 70 per cent of the population of the state, has pitched him against the leadership of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), an umbrella body for ethnic nationalities in the Christian dominated part of the state challenging him to produce empirical evidence to authenticate the claim.

Decisions to Grow Economy

Despite boasting the biggest economy in
Africa, Nigeria’s economy remains largely
undiversified with crude oil sales
accounting for over 90% of total revenue. As a result, our economy is always vulnerable to volatilities in the international oil market coupled with the impact of many years of corruption and wastages. This is the reason for our present economic nightmare and to grow this economy, Nigerian Leaders must take tough decisions.


7-Confusion as AAUA Varsity Students Protest Death of Colleague

Confusion yesterday enveloped the
university town of Akungba Akoko in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo States University as students of the state- owned Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA)
trooped to the town protesting the death of one of their colleagues.
The deceased identified as Ojo Afolabi
Daniel was a 200level student in the
Department of Economic Education of the institution, who also operates a commercial motorcycle; the proceeds from which he uses to sponsor himself in school. A source said the deceased was knocked down by a high speed vehicle while riding on his motorcycle on the Owo-Ikare Expressway on Friday night.


8-Kano Market Fire: FG Pledges to
Assist Victims

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has
assured marketers in Kano State that the
Federal Government would assist the
victims of the recent market fire disaster.
Speaking in Kano yesterday during his one-day official visit, Osinbajo, who got a
rousing welcome, said the federal
government would help in every way to
support the affected traders to rebuild their shops with a view to resume their
businesses. “We will make sure that we
provide and support you with what we have to ensure that people do not suffer”, he said.


9-CBN: Our Officials Not Flying Private or Chartered Jets

In a clear departure from what obtained in the past, officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) no longer use private or
chartered jets in their official trips, the apex bank has said. Making the disclosure at the weekend, the bank’s Ag. Director, Corporate Communications, Isaac Okorafor, said CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele put a stop to the
practice last year in response to the
economic downturn and the cost-cutting
stance of government.


10-Buhari Travels to China to Seek More
Support for Infrastructural Devt

President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Abuja today for a working visit to China aimed at securing greater support from Beijing for the development of Nigeria’s infrastructure, especially in the power, roads, railways, aviation, water supply and housing sectors.
