Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has reiterated his determination to prioritize educational development in the state.
The Governor said this through a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kingsley Fanwo, in Lokoja. He said education is capable of generating the steam for the economic revival of the state.
According to the Governor, the state of education inherited by his administration is "unacceptable and a betrayal of the standards expected of Kogi State", assuring of his administration's readiness at "reining in critical reforms to place the state where it should be on the educational map."
He said: "The present administration is poised to ensure rapid socio-economic development of the state. However, we are not oblivious to the fact that education is the lubricator of every sector of the economy.
"As we look into the need to employ our youth, we also need to ensure they are employable through the right education, especially technical education. The New Direction Technical Team is working on some leads to ensure our children are no more educationally disadvantaged. It is the responsibility of government to provide quality education to the people.
"With the number of foreign investments we are expecting in the state, there is an immediate need to strategically position our people to provide labor and technical capacity to maximize the impending influx of foreign investors to the state."
Governor Bello decried the lack of ICT knowledge in primary and secondary schools in the state, assuring that his administration will address the issue appropriately.
"Our students must be exposed to Information and Communications Technology in order to compete favorably with their counterparts across the country. We cannot afford to lag behind when the global community is moving forward.
"We are constructing a roadmap for educational development and the people will soon begin to reap the fruits of these efforts. Education is the foundation of development".
On security issues in the state, especially the incessant kidnapping, Governor Yahaya Bello said efforts are on to ensure citizens of the state are well secured. He said the government is collaborating with relevant security agencies to improve security delivery in the state.
"We cannot be elaborate on efforts behind the curtains to raise the security bar, but very soon, we shall shock the criminal elements who are taking advantage of our strategic location to foment troubles. As a responsible government, we owe Kogi people a security that is unbeatable."
He urged the people of the state to collaborate with security agencies through intelligence sharing, assuring the people of the state that government is on top of the situation.
Good for him

People should wisen up. Education is good but learn handwork to back up ur certificate. Before u can get any good job in nigeria u must know someone that knows someone or May be that God just decided to intervene in ur life coupled with the fact that u have good grade if not ur name na sorry.
DeletePeople that are meant to retire and pave way wont retire, instead they are busy changing their date of birth. Last yr i went to queens college and fimbers for something. Come and see their teachers. Most of them are my grandma age mate, the least may be my mothers age mate. Or is it our lecturers, one self don dey bend with his spectacle instead of them to retire and enjoy their old age. Mbanu they want to die there. I weep for nigeria.
While vibrant youths with something up stairs are everywhere looking for job. I dnt blame them shaa even when they retire to pay them their gratuity na war.
If u re good at handwork, chill off and make cool money, u can always go to school later, education is a continous process u can go to schl at any age so far as u re healthy and hearty. Even when in schl, little money given to u by ur boyfrnd or parents, save some and look for something and invest on. Those days, most people do sell beads, bags and other stuff while in school, others do learn sewing from home economics student so that when u graudate u wont rely on that peanut u will be paid while working.
I have a frnd then in schl that will buy first grade okirika, she will repackage it with nylon and sell to lecturers in schl and people were buying. Students were laughing at her then. But today she is one of the big sellers and importers of okirika although buhari new law is affecting her shaa.
Ahhh e be like say i don dey talk too much abi out of point

ReplyDeletehow is that possible when he's busy juggling 4 wives in his early forties.....
ReplyDeleteNot what you say but WHAT YOU DO MR GOVERNOR!!!
ReplyDeleteTIME SHALL TELL IF INDEED IT IS YOUR PRIORITY.
He hasn't started but failed already. Winning the case against you as Governor from court is your top priority. When you gave autonomy to LG chairmen just to finance your court case. Chairmen are not paying salaries but since you getting your share, you feel nothing is wrong. Your priority is to stay as the governor. You have the opportunity to write your name in gold. Don't just collect what they(Chairmen) are giving you, try to know what they are doing.
