Cooks At Akure Federal Girls College Caught Picking Used Pads Of Students For "Ritual"

Pandemonium broke out at the weekend at the Federal Girls’ College, (FGC) in Akure, the Ondo State capital, following an alarm raised by students that two of their cooks were allegedly picking their used sanitary pads for unknown purpose.

DAILY POST authoritatively gathered that the suspects were allegedly caught by the students at their dustbins on Friday, which was a day to their “Visiting Day”.

The boarding students, who were in Junior Secondary School (JSS) three and the Senior Secondary School (SSS) three were preparing for the their Junior and Senior West Africa Examination Council (WAEC).

Other students are on holiday break.

It was learnt that the aggrieved students quickly reported the matter to one of their teachers, who informed the Principal about the issue.

Already, the two suspects have been suspended by the School Principal, Mrs. Florence Ejikeme and had been handed over to police for proper investigation.

The students, were said to have attempted to stage a protest that Friday, but they were calmed by the chairman of the Parents Teachers Association of the school, Mr. Akin Ashimolowo.

The matter turned another dimension on their “Visiting Day” as parents were seen protesting against the management of the school.

One of the parents was said to have called the Police Area commander, who immediately arrived the school.

The students were said to have vowed not to eat the food prepared by the cooks.

Though, it was not yet clear if the suspects were using the used sanity pad for themselves or selling them for spiritual purposes, a parent anonymously said the suspects had confessed to the crime at the police station .

She said one of the suspects is a wife of a prominent politician in the state and may want to use their ‘connections’ to sweep the matter under the carpet, adding that her child told her that it was not the first time such a thing would be happening in the school and nothing was being done.

She said ” the question we want to ask the police is that, where did they ( suspects) keep all the sanitary pads they have been taking since all these days? Who sent them, who are they working for ? ”

The State Police Public Relations Officers, Mr. Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident, said only two of the women were in the police custody.

He added that the command had commenced investigation into the matter.

    4. Suspect is wife of a prominent politician? Is she a staff of the school? Cos they said suspects have been suspended. I thought they were fellow students at first.
Anyway this is rather strange o. They had better investigate this properly for the sake of those girls whose pad has been used. No one will know the consequences now until much later.. and by that time it would be hard to trace the perpetrators to seek Redemption. Funny story

    4. You can flush it. Peel the outer net covering with the white nylon that gums your pant, leaving only the cotton wool part. Flush the cotton wool part and rinse the net/nylon with soap when you're baffing. It's easy to clean and dries immediately. Then throw it in a bin.

    5. @11:38 abeg that process is long. They should simply discard it by burning it or by throwing it in the dump after concealing it well. Not unless a mad person or a scavenger is out to open every thrash will they find it. Just wrap in a used box or several other things and dispose it.

      May God save us.

But with all this, the girls may be blamed in some cases. I went to a federal girls college too and most of the time, we see used pad everywhere in the hostel. I think parents shld educate their girl child on the proper disposal of used pad cuz we females especially in our teenage age are very carefree and careless with disposal of used pad.

    2. Are u even complaining about secondary school girls? What about uni girls who drops their sanitary pad roll in a black nylon anywhere, because cleaners dey your school? The only thing that can be disposed carelessly is baby diaper cos it has poo. But a sanitary pad with BLOOD? It should be disposed properly. Better open it, flush the absorbent cotton they watch the nylon clean and drop inside the bin. Many will roll the pad and drop inside dustbin. Do u know where those cleaner are dumping it. Likely incinerator or herbalist. We don't know may God save us.

  23. Some guys are making million out of it in PH and they have recruited some people to be picking used pads and condoms for rituals too.

With this news, that means what one man narrated in Kano State was TRUE, Women, LADIES, YOUNG GIRLS AND BOYS, ETC PLEASE ENdeavour you burn your used pads after your period is over, yes, you can keep them in a secretive place before burning them. MEN DO NOT THROW your used condoms in a waste-bin. So many infertility among us and we do not know where its coming from.
God has finally exposed them. BURN YOUR USED PADS/CONDOMS THAT'S THE MESSAGE IN KANO STATE.

  24. This has been going on for a very long time! Cleaners advised us to wrap it very tiny in a nylon or paper bag and mix it well with the trash, that it will be difficult for these kind of people to spot it. They send small children who went on errands for us in the hostel. A woman that was looking for a male child far back in the 90's went to a shrine out of desperation, she was given something to chew on, when it tasted funny, she looked at it very well and saw that it was a piece of dried menstrual pad! She threw it away and pitied her life!

  28. This is the exact reason why I used to flush my pads down the toilet, but when my toilet pipes ended up blocked, i resorted to another way which may sound disgusting to you. I wear rubber gloves and rinse all the blood out of my pads and then dispose of them.
    Heeez my blood not yours.
    Besides, I wear deezposable gloves.

  32. Feggicolla. The school of good and bad.
I remember the day abi night that I saw Mr Man.
We were all asleep. Middle of the night oh. One of the many "Mr man" that used to plague the school like a virus.
I screamed in shock and he ran off. Black tall man like this with one manic grin.
    With Vaseline over his body.
My kids can never go to any useless federal or govt boarding school.

  34. The same thing happened in FGGC Benin where i schooled. The man we call "generator man" was caught severally picking people's pads. On reporting to school principal then , she shoved it aside and never did anything about it. It wasn't just generator man doing that, some other non academic staffs were involved too. There's too much negligence in these our schools. May God save us all. Also I remember a case that happened in University of Benin, a cleaner was caught doing the same thing. On accosting her she cried and wailed that they were telling lies against her and the matter was swept under the carpet. #ignoreanytypos#justincasethereare
