Buhari Tells Nigerians "I Feel Your Pains"

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday told Nigerians that he was feeling their pains saying that mutterings about the new administration being a scam was far fetched, saying that the one-chance scammers have been driven out of town.

The president spoke at the Vanguard Personality Award ceremony in Lagos where he was jointly honoured with his predecessor, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as Personality of the Year Award, 2015.

Buhari’s call for increased confidence in his administration came as Jonathan praised all Nigerians for contributing to the successes of the elections that characterised his time in office.

In his speech, President Buhari who was represented by the minister of information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said:
“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, let me use this opportunity to tell our compatriots that this Administration is keenly aware of the difficulties they are facing at this time, resulting mostly from the fuel scarcity, poor power supply, inflation etc.
“As a government that was propelled into office by the power of the people, we cannot but feel the pains of our compatriots, and we deeply empathise with them. We are working round the clock to ease the pains of Nigerians, and the efforts of the government have started yielding fruits as we seek to make the petroleum products available nationwide, restore gas supply to the power generating firms, reflate the economy and put Nigerians back to work.
“We understand that Nigerians have started questioning whether this indeed is the CHANGE they voted for, while some have even gone as far as saying that by voting for our party, Nigerians have entered one chance.
“Well, I can tell Nigerians that our CHANGE AGENDA is real, and that indeed, they will get the change they voted for. Nigerians have not entered One Chance, because the One Chance drivers and their conductors have been driven out of town.
“While we cannot but provide context for the challenges being faced by our countrymen and women today, in the sense that it has taken years of mismanagement, corruption and inefficiency to get to this sorry pass, we make no excuses. After all the people voted for us so we can correct the mistakes of the past and enthrone good governance.
We are doing just that. But we want our compatriots to realize that 16 years of rot cannot be cleaned up overnight. It is much easier to destroy than to build. But we are determined to rebuild our country and to make life more abundant for our people.
“Change is a process, and that process has begun. We commend Nigerians for their perseverance. We urge them not to lose their confidence in the ability of this Administration to bring about the much-needed change.

  25. They were making sense until they got to the 16yrs of rot speech whixh I'm tired of. They aren't the only once that have met bad government. Obasanjo took off from abdusalam who took off from abacha that stole over billions dollars. We are still receiving the loots of abacha to this day. Obasanjo didn't come in and complain. He met low fuel price and still he worked. Before the end of his first tenure Nigerians knew they had to vote for him again the second time. Infact, in his second year in the first year, he cleared some of the countries debt...

He didn't come and start making noise about how he met rot, rather he got to work because he had an agenda. Need I forget he also met low price in oil. Just the same way this government met. One thing we know was after 2 terms in office, obasanjo cleared all our foreign debts and still left the economy with money..

If he had come in and started complaining about the rot he met and no treasury or money he wouldn't have achieved anything..

So please stop complaining and blaming the last government. We know they ruined thing but the ruining didn't start today. It started 55yrs ago. Do the little you can do and know that you wouldn't be there forever..

STop acting like you gave forever on that throne. We don't expect you to clean up the rot in the system but we expect some things should be in place. Stop complaining and blaming. It's too much.. In 4yrs or 8yrs time another government will take over, stop acting like you have 50yrs on that throne. We don't know the leaders we are going to have tomorrow. So do you bit. If not when another government comes into power they will say you did nothing, so they are starting all over. But when you start doing something it wouldn't be

When Nigerians are complaining it's not like they are asking for so much. They just want light, fuel and food and jobs. This things aren't hard to achieve.

Fix the petroleum sector since you a re the minister of petroleum. Fashola should fix the power sector and stop complaining about vandals. We have budget for security for all pipelines. Make. Jobs available for people and please let food be affordable

  26. Buhari should just shut up and stop adding salt to injury.
We don't want more useless foolish talk. Let him start solving the problems he promised he will solve

  27. For those that will come and say rubbish, crude oil was sold at 16.56 dollars in 1999 which was when obasanjo came to power.

Then went to 27 dollars in 2000, then went to 35 dollars by same 2000. There was temporary fall from 2000 to 2004 where it kept going below 35 dollars and rising back to 35 dollars until 2004 where it was sold for 40/50 dollars

My point been obasanjo also inherited a cashless economy after abacha stole everything we had which we are still recovering after 11yrs of his death.. So Buhari should stop complaining and work..

  30. At this point & in my opinion, it is totally wrong to refer to the past administration as being responsible for the woes of the present. They managed Nigeria for 16years; you said. How come it explodes in your own face in less than one year? Management or mismanagement?
I just hate politics & all these APC & PDP gangsterism.

  31. Nigerians, please pick up your phones and Google how Buhari ruled the first time during the military regime

There was untold hardship, super inflation and all the things we are going thru now. Same pattern. And believe me he kept blaming the previous government all thru his 2yrs in power until he was removed from power and jailed..

Don't be ignorant. This is how it is going to be until he leaves. If he is going to rule for 4yrs or 8yrs, this is going to be the situation..

He is going to blame and blame and blame and do nothing.. Sometimes don't just come and start been a blind supporter..

NO when to hold your leaders accountable. Aeader isn't one who apportioned blame but offer solutions to problems. Obama also met a bad economy. I have searched and didn't see any speech where he apportioned blame. Obasanjo met a bad economy with low price of fuel and empty treasury after abacha loot and he didn't complain but get to work..

All this government has done is blame, blame and blame without bringing solution. When they see Nigerians are getting tired and want to complain, they will bring up another story of how much someone stole. You know this people stole and have proof yet most of them are walking freely except for dasuki which I feel it's a personal vendetta since him and Buhari hadn't been in good terms and what dasuki did to him before. Every other person that the government claim to have stolen from Nigeria is walking freely. They have the guts to tell us so and so stole billions of naira but have refused to tell us how much they have collected so far?? Why bother us with the amount that was stolen if you won't tell us how much has been returned. It's 11 months already and we are still on the blame game issues..

    When exactly does it end??

Its even more annoying them they say 16yrs of government like it's not pdp members that make up apc. When pdp comes back to power half of apc will go back to pdp and when pdp wants to blame they will say it's the 4yrs or 8yrs of apc that caused problems forgetting they are all one

Nigerians are so annoying. They can't hold their government to their promises swallowing stupid lies fed to them while they go hungry at night

  33. I think it is time for APC to stop this blame game. How long are we going to keep hearing this?

Every administration blames the previous administration and it goes on and on. Which administration is actually going to work and deliver the promises they made to the masses? We are tired of hearing the same stale story. We want action and the change you promised Nigerian. Stop diverting attention of Nigerians, so you can misuse funds successfully.

I never bought the whole change propaganda because I am not with that bandwagon effect. I believe neither PDP or APC should rule this country. While some people even supported PDP is because they stole money and somehow the common man benefited through their corrupt rich uncle. APC is using the funds alone, blaming the previous administration and yet their number one man is all over the world.

PDP or APC have no buisness ruling this country. Let us look for an unknown party with less popularity and more intergrity and vote into power.

I hope National Assembly realises the power they have. The best President still goes to President Olusegun Obasanjo.
