Pascal Meyer -Bathed With Acid In Lagos But 5 Years After Ready To forgive...

Report Translated from french to English by BV Ayo...

Slimane Salhi, 41, a French teacher, was charged with ordering the acid attack on Mr Meyer because The principal of French school in VI had informed him a few weeks earlier that his contract would not be renewed because of his irregular conduct.

The teacher who lived in the school compound along with the principal and some other teaching and non-teaching staff had put up some traffic which was unacceptable in a school environment to make extra money. Apart from his canteen where he sold food and drinks to the pupils, he played the role of Mallam/Aboki and changed money to colleagues.

He also played the role of a bank by lending money. He drove around Lagos with unauthorised diplomatic plates attached to his car which the principal took away from him. Unhappy with the decisions of the new principal, he planned to revenge.

Five days before the before the attack that disfigured and blinded the left eye of the principal, the teacher had thrown acid on the tyres of his car. Although he called this first attempt a practical joke he denied the second one saying that he did not pay anyone to throw acid on his boss.

On 19 November 2010 around 4:45pm, an unidentified man met up with the principal inside the school premises and asked him for information before throwing acid across his face. Half of his face got burned including his left eye and ear. Two minutes after the attack, the teacher left the school and returned ten minutes later. The principal was rushed to the hospital and later flown to France.

Although the teacher was not convicted in Lagos, he was convicted in France in 2013 and sentenced to 10 years in prison. It was proven through telephone recordings that the Nigerian police had been bought with moneyThe philosophy teacher appealed and was sentenced again to ten years this 26 February 2016.

Five years after the incident, France TV Info journalists visited the father of four in Germany where he is now a principal at a French school in Frankfurt. Although he was asked to retire, he refused. He has undergone twenty-one surgeries and still has to take daily medication and treatment. He no longer drives in the city or at night. His wife Sylvie is there to support him. He still has good memories of the short period he lived in Lagos and shared a picture which he took with the French school securities.

  3. So sad.
Some people are just born demons. He deserves more than that 10yrs in prison sef.
See Ibinabo got 5yrs for causing smone's death and her people are still complaining.
If she was abroad she will be charged separate years for manslaughter, reckless driving, driving under the influence and then fleeing the scene of an accident. And that is just for d Doc that died, without even what she will serve for the surviving victims.
Naija police I hail una, you have to show ur corruption all the way in France.

  6. Nawa,na oyinbo dey do buying and selling of food, burea de change etc, even misusing car at his place of work. Then pouring acid on tyre and his superiors face, then bribing police.
If they check well, im sure his wife is naija, probably Igbo. All dis buying and selling he is doing, sure it is his Igbo wife helping him. Then she then sent her junior brother to pour the acid and also tried bribing police.

Thank God for his life, thank God for science, just see how the skin graft was done, almost perfect! If it were in my beloved Nigeria..... topic for another day shaa! glad he forgave the 'sick' and 'evil' teacher not because he deserves it but because it feels good and so that his own healing will be complete.
Mmmmmmmm! NPF, I hail ooo! See as una no dey resist any 'offer' to rub 'coal tar' on Nigeria's image. If Federal government sets out to punish to fish out and punish those fingered, world people would start screaming that the war on corruption to selective.

  22. I was présent during thé two trials.nobody has spoken about any records, or any bribes to police.then i beleive this man is innocent.majority of thé witnesses were confuses, raising dubious comments. One vote was missing to set free this man.

  23. I read all thé french comments about this case, because mr sali was my teacher. Nowhere it is stipulated that police has been bought or some records be found. I want to also know who translate this article from which source. It is too bad to create such a spéculation.

  24. I deeply agree with you. We need to check our sources before judging.

  25. I was girl in that school.i lived with thèse white people.this teacher was so envy.he was making business. He owned three restaurant in Lagos.the diplolatic plates he was using were the one he had since he arrived officialy in Nigeria.i heard he was an attaché before.concerning the time he left the premise after the crime shows if it is true that he is innocent.the place of the crime is toi far from the generalgeneral exit for him to escape probably with any kind of associate two minutes after the crime. The security men belongs to a private company. It is in their interest to lie about such an information. The record book on which all the exits and the entrees are stipulated has been checked by police and the man went out twenty minutes before the crime. The boy who change his tire confirm it to the police. This is why Nigeria police after having checked his time table saw that he was having no Hand into this affair. It is french police who decided to pursue him based on the conviction of the victimes. In that compound we all know that he is innocent. Concerning the victime, i prefere keeping quiet about two of his girl friends.
