The national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has castigated the Minister for State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu for saying he is not a magician to end the current fuel scarcity. According to Tinubu, the minister was answerable to Nigerians and not the other way round. He said that with the comment, it becomes obvious that Kachikwu strayed from the progressive agenda of the Buhari-led government.
  2. Following claims by a female suicide bomber who was arrested in Cameroon of being one of the abducted Chibok girls, the Federal Government on Saturday said it will be sending two delegates from Chibok community to Cameroon to verify the identity of the girl. This was contained in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu.
  3. Nigeria U-17 female side, the Flamingoes, have qualified for the 5th FIFA World Cup after they defeated South Africa 1-0 at the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa on Saturday.

  4. Following allegation by the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday alleging that the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, made a total of N280m dealing in forex as posted on the political party’s Twitter handle, Garba Shehu has refuted the allegation, threatening to sue anyone behind the post. He equally clarified that he had only two forex purchases since coming into government.
  5. Parents of a set of conjoined twins, Segun and Mary Ayeni, have raised the alarm over decisions by the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu State not to release the medical records of their daughters, Miracle and Testimony. They have also alleged that the hospital was soliciting funds on behalf of the twins without their consent.
  6. Fire reportedly gutted the textbooks section of the popular Rimi Market at the Abacha Mosque area of the commercial city of Kano State in the early hours of Saturday.
Report says moments after the fire started, it spread from stall to stall and to a branch of a first generation bank located in the market. It was reported that over 600 shops were destroyed in the inferno.

7. Relatively, the Birnin Kebbi Central Market has been gutted by fire. The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday. Reports claim that property worth millions of naira were destroyed but no life was lost.

8. The Catholic Bishop of Abuja Diocese, John Onaiyekan, has taken a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari for dragging Nigeria into the Saudi-led Islamic coalition, saying the decision was unfortunate. He said the development posed great danger for Nigeria’s armed forces and the nation.

9. Following the draw played against the Pharoahs of Egypt, Chelsea star, Mikel Obi has charged the Super Eagles to give everything when they face Egypt for the second time in Alexandria in their quest to qualify Nigeria for next year’s AFCON in Gabon. Mikel said the Eagles have to fight harder than they have ever done to snatch the three points at the Borg El-Arab Stadium in the Mediterranean coast.

10. President Muhammadu Buhari has sympathized with the victims of the fire incidents in Sabon Gari Market, Kano State and Birnin Kebbi Central Market in Kebbi. In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday by Mallam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the president, President Buhari commiserated with the government and people of the two states, urging them to find out the immediate and remote causes of the fire disasters.
