Mercy Aigbe Calls Out ThisDayStyle For Leaving Her Out Of Cover Which Paraded AMVCA's Best Dressed List..

Actress Mercy Aigbe -Gentry posted this rant yesterday on Instagram.....

ThisDayStyle posted it's cover on Instagram and then asked It's followers to tag all those it featured but what happened next is what caused Mercy to be upset. Those who feel she shouldnt have been left out of that list began to tag her as well....

I dont know what to say cos I am also somewhat surprised that she didnt make the cover but i guess whoever compiled the list had a criteria she didnt meet or maybe the space wasnt enough?
Anyway,I am not the mouth piece of ThisDayStyle so i cannot offer an explanation.

They might respond to her.....

    5. Same with me. She was overall best dressed. Genny dress was just too boring, Dakora looked like she was going for church service, omotola shouldn't be on d list at all. So thisday style WTF are u saying

      Delete
    6. With all them fake accent them no fit dress. Mercy, Rita and Genevieve are the only females to be in that cover. I am getting tired of people not doing their work well. What excuse do they want to give? That they mean overall best dressed not at AMVCA alone, even at that it is very obvious that their choice to use pictures from the AMVCA alone sent a wrong message. If you say they are the overall best dressed, then they should have used that Dakores dress on AMVCA as her best outfit (she looks like a millipede with pidgeon chest), They should have also replaced stephanies and Genenevieves outfits with a better one they had taken before.
Thisday I would say,LACKS whatever it takes to publish this Nonsense. They will soon say "afterall it is our magazine, go and write yours". Now, when you decided to mark Best dressed Nollywood actress, Nollywood is not a Thisday affair so it becomes a public affair. It is all shades of wrong. If you decide to do something, Do it well. I guess they never thought that people will go aside their command and start tagging the ones that was sidelined let alone anyone speaking up. People just sit down and start stirring up unnecessary feud and tension. Nigeria already have enough problems.

According to a comment posted By someone the mistake they made was making collections from the amvc awards so it made it looked like they omitted her being the fact that everyone been saying she's the best dress.

Mercy should take several seats she must not be noticed all the time best dress by spending is not what I call best dressed.

    1. Well, like you said. It is a very costly mistake. It definitely sent the wrong message to thousands of people. Pictures speak louder than Words.
It is very unprofessional for this day to do a shabby Job. Why didn't they select a picture where the individual actors slayed to death. Using the AMVCA photos is a total F9, it shows they even lack the commonsense. They should have left out Nollywood. The heading should have been Thisday favourite actors. When you add Nollywood, it becomes a public affair and you will be dragged for not doing a thorough job.

      Delete
    2. It was not a mistake. You people forget that it's business. The magazine put people whose faces will sell their magazine. Plus. Don't forget that they reserve the right to put whom ever they want on their cover.

    1. Most ppl aren't getting her pt.... No indigenous actor was recognized. That is the bone of contention, they don't see them as good enuf actors, only the English speaking actors are actors. What the fuck is yorubawood, does dt sound nice or Igbowood, only kannywood try small. Nollywood shld b an encompass ment of all Nigerian made movies, highest distinguish into Yoruba - nollywood,Hausa nollywood,Igbo nollywood etc. I for one I am not Yoruba but I enjoy their movies more than the English ones. To the Yoruba movie association up ur game ojare and improve ur subtitling.

  34. Ah! People need to let this go already.

Firstly, its "Nollywood's Best Dressed" not AMVCA best dressed.

Secondly, its their opinion. Am sure they have their own criteria/reason for picking the people they have there. Although, I do not agree with some of the people on that list. But its their opinion & they aint holding a gun to anyone's head forcing them to accept. Yeah, Mercy should have made the list but she didn't, so freaking what?! Its just a magazine. I mean how many 'celebs' throw tantrums over things like this? After all, its normal for different magazines to come up with their own list. This isn't even a competition or something of that sort na. Mercy needs to stop being petty abeg.

By the way, even if it were AMVCA best dressed, Mercy wouldn't come in the first 5 people (my opinion). Her dress didn't blow me away, it was just another bejewelled dress with a cape abeg. And she had too much going on with the hair & make up, almost like she was trying too hard. Fashion for some people, isn't about wearing 'fine clothes'. There's a reason why they say 'Simplicity is the highest form of sophistication'. Go figure!

  39. Abeg Mercy goofed. This was not hers to fight.

It would have been better if someone else made a case for her. This isn't like an award ceremony where your art and craft or intellect is being rewarded.

This is just a fashion pictural reportage that is left solely to the discretion of the publisher. Editor, or whoever. And if for whatever reason they do not deem it fit to feature u on this page, don't be irascible or be quick to jump to a stereotypical banter that'll only cause unnecessary fracas

It may have been an oversight for all u care. Which I honestly doubt much though, because u were conspicuous at the event and u got a lot of applauds for ur appearance that night. However, again, I would have preferred that this didn't come from u cos u sound pained and desperate for the attention.

Mind u it's their cover, their prerogative. It's a private organisation and they have the inalienable right to feature whomever they so please. So u my dear mercy goofed!!

This just makes u look a bit down low, u may be right in ur observation but you shouldn't have let those who tagged u push u to garner the embarrassment that will follow this ur outburst. This remains my opinion strictly.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yeah right!!! At least someone gets it. Their page, their prerogative.

Its not a competition. Its embarrassing to say the least. If Mercy needs the opinion of some magazine to validate her sense of style/fashion, then she isn't only petty but she also lacks self-confidence.

  51. na by force???...see trouble. dem dey give award for am? instead of seeking recognition in her craft she's looking for best dressed recognition 'upandan''...most unprofessional and even a bit childish!

can you even imagine an Angelina jolie or a viola davis getting upset because people magazine or some newspaper didn't put their image on a collection of best dressed photographs.....

  52. so for her mind she dey genevive nnaji, rita dominc and RMD levels??? (rotfl!!!) reality check girl : you aint all that!

  53. a classier actress who felt this way would actually take it up with her stylist...rather than start a war of words with the newspaper. its the paper's opinion...and in their opinion you don't 'belong'.

how can someone's opinion move you so much. what matters is what you think of yourself, not what others think.

and pls stop sugarcoating 'bushness' with tribal sentiments. which wan be ýouruba actress' for the matter????mtchewwwww

  62. She was well dressed. Very well dressed but I guess they had their criteria when they said nilly wood best..

PLease she mostly features in yoruba movies. People outside the west don't know her. She is not known in the north or east. Nigeria doesn't start and end with Lagos. I guess this day picked the faces of molly wood stars that are known all over Nigeria..

NO one would ask questions about who and who are up there. But people would ask who is mercy because of the movies she features in. I am sure this were their reason for said action

I also do not know most actresses until I started reading blogs. But that do not mean they are less of an actress.

  63. Whoever compiled that list does not have any fashion sense and doesn't have any business working for a fashion magazine. Since the AMVCA pictures were uaed, it is right to assume that they meant best dressed on that night. No 1 should have been Mercy Aigbe, then Funke Akindele and Adesua Etomi(best overall actreess)I wonder why no one is mentioning that lady's name. Maybe because she's a green horn but she slayed it on that night. For the men, Falz is number one, he rocked in his mustard suit, green bow tie and mustard shoe. Blossom Chukwujekwu also rocked his igbo attire. The Thisday list would have been better captioned 'Nollywood popular faces' not best dressed though some people like Lilian Esoro, Rita Dominic and RMD also slayed. Beverly Naya was dressed for a rag day not an Award night.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Why did she allow her fans or followers push her to this? She looked fabulous that day at the AMVCA but was that the criteria This Day magazine used when they put up the list of best dress in Nollywood? We don't even know if the full list is inside the magazine proper which her name might be among but not on the cover, why so bothered and saying all those things to this day. That was so unprofessional and ill mannered of her to have called out the magazine. For Christ's sake they didn't mention your name as the worst dress or something. She shoykdnt have said anything at all and even if she wanted to say something to please the people that tagged her she could have been very proffesional about and diplomatic about it. Even the almighty Funk Akindele that is being featured in English movies more than any of her yourbawood actors was not featured on the cover, so? She effed up biggest time, mtcheeeewww. Meanwhile, Mrs Ubi Franklin is the most beautiful pregnant woman I have seen.

  65. Really? You need to broaden your horizon and go out more then so you can see the multitude of pregnant beautiful women that abound.
