Man And Step Son Secretly Bury Dead Wife In Bayelsa

A man and his step-son have left friends  and family members shocked after it was discovered that they secretly buried the man's wife.

A 53 year old man, Seimukumo Agnaju and his step son, Larry Godsgift, aged 16 have been arrested by the Anti Vice Squad of  the Nigerian Police over mysterious death and secret burial of the man's wife at the Akenpai suburb of Yenagoa Bayelsa State, Vanguard reports.

It was gathered that the deceased woman  died of a strange ailment. The woman identified as Joyce Sawyer, aged 43, an indigene of Odi community in Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area of the state, was said to have died on the 13th of March in her home but her husband refused to inform anybody and went ahead to bury the woman behind their home.

However, trouble started when the Local  Government where the wife works requested a verification exercise of its staff which required that the woman submits her Bank Verification Number (BVN). A colleague tried to alert her on the need for her to leave the sick bed and come forward to submit her BVN only to discover the shocking news.

While many claimed the secret burial was  conducted due to lack of mortuary fee, others alleged that the suspect strained relationship with his wife's family members may have made him to keep the demise of their daughter away from them. The men have not been charged pending the result of an autopsy on the corpse.

Contacted on the development, the  spokesman of the Bayelsa Police Command, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the development and said investigation was ongoing.

  7. I recall the family in my villa that shoved down their step mum into a well(umi in Igbo parlance). The woman was screaming that nobody in that family will live to see her age, she was 51.
Till today, the curse remains, from accidented death, to fire incidence to mild fever. They keep dying before 48 sef. Bishops and Pastors from different denominations keep coming to pray and annoint them for where? I pity this family.
What do people benefit from wickedness?

    Rest in peace young woman.
    God is watching.

    1. If the man doesn't have mortuary fees where is he supposed to keep the body? The woman's relative that didn't even know that the lady died should go and burry their faces in shame. Soon she will become a hero and money will suddenly come out because she is dead. The woman might have even died of hunger.
Nigerians respect the dead more than the living. They actually prefer you dead and once you are dead you are a saint automatically.
The man did not burry the woman alone with his son, some of his community members were there. The woman's family wasn't there.
The media should stop telling stories to make it sweet and suspicious. Everyone will now think that it was Just him and the boy present.
What sense is there to keep dead body in the mortuary and use the little money you don't have to feed the living. And start doing flamboyant burial.
That lady was sick. Let the autopsy be completed.
The only wickedness is if they killed him? For now the man burried his wife and you all are here ranting. Should he have eaten the body?
Yet people kill their spouses everyday and even do serious extravagant burial and even pretend that they want to fall inside the grave. You will now see those ones as innocent.
If the reporters has said that even the neighbours and the members of the community didn't know when she died and burried then I will begin to see the need for the suspicion.
Nigerians like bad news, they anticipate it, they always see the bad side of everything, they always cry victim and you wonder why their is so much suffering.
Some idiots will now come with their fish brain and put it to me that I assisted the man to murder his wife.

    2. Fans Anony 13:03. My dear calm down small, u hia.
Paragraph 3 says it all....'The husband refused to inform anybody'.

In Igboland you are supposed to go or send someone to go cry at the entrance of your wife's compound before announcing her passage. Even if it's only a 9 year old boy that is at home, the bereaved is cleared.

      Read the story again dear.
