''Hello Stella,
A friend of mine just received this demolition notice. His block, located within Lekki Gardens Horizon 2 (different from the collapsed site) has been marked for demolition. I understand his building was not in the original plan hence the demolition.
Pretty sad that our government more than Lekki gardens has once gain failed it's people...
If the government officials were doing their jobs, how will LG have built this mess? How will innocent people have paid for this mess?
In the process of punishing LG the citizens that voted Ambode into office are being punished.
Pretty sad''.
*So where will these people move to?Is the state government making plans for them? This is horrible!
Mehn... this lekki gardens' man's village people are after him... see everything he worked hard for crashing down on him all at once 😔
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
DeleteSsome of you are really daft on this blog! Before you chun outt that money to buy a house won't you carry someone in the know to check the house? Some realtors upon entering a house they know if it's inferior. You think people just get an agent, see the house and pay 70mill? Also, don't forget, the building collapsed because additional 2 floors were added meaning it collapsed because of the weight on the foundation not necessarily because substandard materials were used. They've been in thee business for years no houses have collapsed, just one(a very unfortunate incident) and the government wants to demolish all her buildings! Give yourselves brain and know this is a witch hunt. Governor ambode how far? Are you in quilox tonight because that's all you know, club and girls. Leave Richard alone!!!!
DeleteMzAnon, pls check ur facts very well. This is actually d 4th to collapse for 'LG'. The other ones were swept under d carpet and did not catch media attention due to their locations and timing.
DeleteThe materials they used were inferior and substandard for years. They compromised on d approval, standards and wanted maximum profit. Even from outside, it is obvious there was poor supervision of those developments.
You may need to visit one to see things for urself. D government is actually doing d subscribers a favour by asking them to evacuate while they r still alive. The next collapse may affect a fully occupied one, and result in d death several families.
This one is small compare to what is happening in Kaduna. Six already dead with this kind of letter that Kaduna state governor gave. Is only God that will judge them all. Wicked soul, wicked APC people. Evil people.
ReplyDeleteNonsense!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I feel for these people, let their being alive be there consolation. What if after a year or so more building collapse with people inside?
ReplyDeleteLet them find closure in the fact that those dead could have been them as well.
But I hope this decision itself will not push some to an early grave!
DeleteNigeria ,choo am just crying , people will save and save to buy home and suddenly mistakes happen and the same people pays for the mistake
ReplyDeleteSome people are still paying!!!!!!!
DeleteOMG
Can i imagine
DeleteCan i imagine
DeleteAnd that's the painful thing, they won't make provision for the relocation. Where wiykd this people move to with such expensive rents they have paid there, where? *sad*
ReplyDeleteI will pack my load to that honourable commissioner's office. 2 days from the date of notice. Just 2 days. Wow
ReplyDeleteBut why are leaving truth and chasing lies?
ReplyDeleteI tire for us o...
Of course, LG will be responsible for any inconvenience caused ...abi which kain mumu questions are this?
LG conned them,Na LASG go pay?
Pls face true and let lies rest
People resort to buying houses bcos of Omo onile wahala,yes...but still there's need to go cross check and verify where the property you are buying is located at the town planning office
Since Lekki garden is an estate,They cheated nd should be culpable
Meanwhile I am sure the building/estate is insured, abi?
You just said the honest and bitter truth. Sometimes the land AMac will sell to an estate developer is a land that is supposed to be road access or railway. When you build on it FCDA will come and pull it down citing the Abuja master plan. And some of these estate developers are very much aware of the said road access but they just want to extort people and at the end it will be ceaseless court cases for refund which you might never get.
Delete@nwa Amaka u r so right, this shld b a lesson for us all. B4 buying any property dey shld check d master plan@ d head office
DeleteLike Seriously? Imagine the conconbility!
ReplyDeleteHehehehehe @ concobility
DeleteKai this poster is so daft. So until the building kills your friend before you borrow sense. I hate when Nigerians talk like this. So much foolish sentiment that will kill you. You better face Lekki Garden for refund. Opo
ReplyDeleteYou minding the oaf?
DeleteAre u minding them???
DeleteLekki garden will compensate them. It's advised that before you buy a house go and see the plan from the authorities in charge. I still remember how our house was demolished in lugbe airport road. Like 5 years now nothing is being done abt it. The estate developers are not even doing anything abt it.
ReplyDeleteI am about to buy a property at the same Lugbe. Where do I verify the authenticity?
DeleteVery sad!
ReplyDeleteLagos state goverment must provide accommodation for them..if not make una go alausa with una bag go protest.
ReplyDeleteThe accommodation to be demolished was it provided for by LASG?
DeleteStella and her mumuness sometimes sha! If your Germany someone breaks the law, would the government be providing compensation for the people scammed? Abeg, don't always allow sentiments remove all that you've learned in your acquired country.
Don't mind Stella. So government shd wait for another illegally built structure to go down before taking action abi. And if that happens na this same peeps go come here to blame govt.
DeleteFunny how you are here insinuating support for the law breaking Lekki Gardens guy
This is not right!
ReplyDeleteNot right at all!
Asking them to vacate their places of residence, without making alternative arrangements for, them, defeats the purpose of looking out for their safety.
You want to demolish buildings, because it's considered unsafe for human habitation, then you resort to throwing the occupants of the said buildings, into the streets, with their families and properties?
Lagos state government officials that read this blog, please, look into this.
Houses should have been provided for these people, temporary or permanent, for which they'll pay, and move in, before this evacuation would have commenced.
Taking this action, is the same as creating an IDP camp, in an already overpopulated city.
And that's not going to look good for your image, Ambode.
Whether it's connected to the collapsed Lekki Homes brouhaha or not, this is totally wrong.
#WhiteDiamondOut
Well said. You saved me from the stress of typing epistle
DeleteI'm beginning to think these ppl dunno what they are doing.
ReplyDeleteKai, this is heartbreaking
ReplyDeleteIt is for their own and public safety
ReplyDeleteWait
ReplyDeleteI hope these are not personal houses being demolished? As in hope they r tenants and not landlords. Cos it will pain me if the masses will bear d brunt of lost monies from the demolished buildings
Lol...they are landlord, so to say..they bought d houses frm lekki gardens who are d developers. Some paid in instalments while some paid outrightly but d bottom line is the houses are theirs. People buy homes to escape frm omonile wahala wey full lagos and it's usually d best bet for those in diaspora who don't have any trusted person to help buy land and build. So they buy frm these developers. Now,it happens that this particular developer built some of these house on lands that were not properly filled and after inspection,d lagos state govt has given notice to those living in d affected houses to evacuate them and d buildings demolished to avoid another one collapsing and taking lives with it just like d one that collapsed some days ago. Now,I dont know if those affected will get their monies back. And we are talking of millions here. But would u rather stay in a sinking house or pack ur family and go???
DeletePlenty kisses, Ebi.
DeleteSentiments beclouding d judgment of Nigerians since 19....
It's sad but if the house failed the integrity test, am afraid this is the way out safety first. People will have to relocate and pay for another rent and all. Too sad.
ReplyDeleteThat Ambode self, he lacks ideas,
ReplyDeleteIt is so sad that the government di messed up
ReplyDeletePls , is it LASG that built Lekki Gardens? Was is built in Ambode's regime?? Why then do you expect Ambode or LASG to be reponsible for the owners of the houses?! Definitely it's Lekki Gardens that would refund or find alternative accommodation for them. Sometimes I wonder if people on this blog actually passed through school. Too much sentiments in Nigeria. Everyone always trying to pull down the government even when they have nothing to do with it.
ReplyDeleteGbamest! I wonder sometimes too.
DeleteI knew this will happen, he used inadequate materials for the buildings am a realtor (property agent) and I knw d value of a property when I see one and I can tell from d quality of materials used. LG was only after making money not after the safety of pple if u see the way they rushed to build d houses wiv scanty materials becos is instalmental payment, as u pay na so dem go build ur house. I jst knew this will happen and am glad I saved my frnd and her hubby last year from purchasing a home from there I seriously adviced dem against it and am also glad they took my advice. Imagine now, wht abt those others I know of who actually stopped LG from progressing wiv theirs instead they continued from scratch due to the same scanty materials but they didn't hv a choice cos d price was fair and it is in a choice area so they took d cost. Am sure and hope those ones pass d test. God epp(help)dem.

ReplyDeleteLekki gardens has to compensate the occupants
ReplyDeleteAfter all there's insurance on the property
The government is only looking out for the occupants,An integrity test was carried out on all the buildings,if yours isn't up to standard then you'd have to move out
What sort of stupid emotions are people voicing here? An unscrupulous developer cons people into buying unsafe buildings and somebody is talking about APC? Should the govt wait for another building to collapse? If I were a resident, would I be able to sleep in that building with my family, knowing it could collapse at any time? Make una borrow sense, abeg! Hold the developer responsible. Dasall!
ReplyDeleteSentiment won't kill us in Nigeria. Lekki Gardens is solely responsible for this. People usually buy houses rather than build because they don't want to deal with all these approvals, omo onile, trying to get your CofO and all the crap associated with buying land. It means this people trusted Lekki Gardens to have taken care of all that. Lagos state could defend themselves and say they didn't give them approval but Lekki Gardens went ahead anyway. Let's not get it twisted Lekki Gardens committed a crime, these guys are saying it like they're punishing them for the sake of it. They broke a law and people died as a result, let's not try to trivialize it.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for them where would they go now? The appropriate authority should come to their rescue.
ReplyDeleteThey better not be issuing a blanket order to demolish all LG properties, because truth is people invested in those homes for years and cannot just leave with nothing. If Ambode thinks he is punishing Richard, he should know he is punishing the thousands of owners of properties in lekki gardens. Makes no sense, was a test carried out? Where is evidence that a test was carried out? Are u demolishing faulty units or the entire property. Ambode Temper justice with mercy, two wrongs don't make a right.
ReplyDelete#Mumu people.
DeleteIs it ambode dat will die if one more collapses?
It is saddening that there is corruption on all levels. Are the govt officials not supposed to inspect the buildings n building materials before certifying them ok? Are the banks financing these projects not suppossed to get experts to verify the authenticity of these buildings?...really sad
ReplyDeleteOne more questions; r d investors /subscribers not check for themselves since it's hard earned money they r committing?
DeleteEver heard d clause... caveat emptor aka buyer beware?
One more question; r d investors /subscribers not required to check for themselves since it's hard earned money they r committing?

There should be a form of compensation for everyone affected.
ReplyDeleteGod bless ambode...i really like the man, he acts like an educated man that he is.. if i were to be ambode, i will demolish all lekki garden estates...without leaving any one behind because i once lived in lekki garden and i know how bad they construct
ReplyDeleteFor all of you saying Ambode shd take it easy, have you ever entered a LG apartment? There are some buildings that were supposed to be four floors and parapet had been put on top but LG added one more floor thereby trapping water that's supposed to go down into the drain pipe on the roof of the ppl below and such water has made the walls weak. Check block B5!!! Sentiments aside, who would be able to sleep knowing the building may come crashing down any minute???
ReplyDeleteA word is enough for the wise. If dem like make dem stay there. No matter the amount spent, your life is worth much more. The dead can't want anything more than another chance to be alive.
Ambode is just being wicked, political and inhuman, it's glaring he wants to strip this young man all he has worked for years and indirectly suffering the people that put him there. He should have patience and allow the law to judge him instead of doing it himself....he has personal grudge for him, govt officials are into this real estate thing but he came and crashed the market so that the poor can own houses....just because he is not a Yoruba man.....sooooo sad.
ReplyDelete2 days? How possible is it to find a house to move to and have the house demolished in 2 days? Let this Govt be practical. They are not saying anything about how difficult it may be for people that bought or leased the houses to get a refund for LG if they move out.
ReplyDeleteWhile LG should be held responsible for the incident, it's sad to see how Nigerian Enterpreneurs are frustrated out of business while Lebanese and Indians thrive. Who was handcuffed and jailed when the building under construction on Muri Okunola collapsed? Was it because they were foreigners? Let justice be free and fair, having Indians and Lebanese boast about how they can get away with anything in Nigeria because they know the right people is very wrong.
They should do a thorough investigation even up to the company that make the rods and aportion blame.
Is it the entire estate of duplexes and apartments that is a contravention?
ReplyDeleteIs it about integrity test or about building plan approval?
The letter posted didn't talk about due to failure of non-destructive test. Are we witch-hunting Lekki Gardens?
If the test fail, please demolish but if it is building plan, please was the estate built on a Govt road or drainage area or what makes it a contravention?
Please if you hate Lekki Gardens, put that emotions aside and look critically into this issue

I am not sure this letter is referring to fake materials or failure of integrity test. Please what is the meaning of contravention?
ReplyDeleteIs there no c of o on this land? Certainly there is.
I think Govt is going too far. This will have ripple effect on the economy I bet you.
If you built a house somewhere and it is demolished, will you go and meet the person who sold the land to you? Lekki Gardens is not in this, this is a fight for the estate residents
This is pure injustice that Lagosians need to kick against.
Is Govt trying to take over all Lekki Gardens Estate properties?
I think something is wrong somewhere

Let's not fool ourselves... This shows that we do not have a government in this country. If government was working in the first place how is that they are just stepping into the issue so late after investors have put in their hard earned funds?
ReplyDeleteAlmost all the houses in Lagos state do not have proper building approval... So the government should stop this higi haga bullshit of home demolition and start thinking objectively. The houses belong to men and women who have probably used their entire savings to buy these properties.. Some are still paying back mortgage to the bank for these properties? Should they be made homeless? We're would they start from? People will just collapse and die for nothing o.. Even around faulty buildings There are solutions around the issue not necessarily demolition. The government should state what the issue with the building is and experts can introduce Solutions like reinforcements and underpinning to help the building so it stands the test of time...it's not like the building is in a diapilidated state.. These are new buildings for crying out loud! Then Ambode can say he has helped the masses and is concerned about their safety. Shikena !
Let's not forget that the buildings have not been said to be bad.. The government never said they want to bring down the building because it can collapse... They only said they want to demolish because the developer does not have building approval.. You cannot deal with the developer at the expense of the masses... The house belongs to these investors now not the developer... Is the Governor really thinking clearly or is he just on a vindictive Richard witch hunt? Who is advising Ambode?
How many houses in lagos have building plans? People here totaly love the idea of a scape goat!
ReplyDeleteMistake has been made and one of many in Lagos. Quite a number of people are affected, how many should LG bare, cost of demolition , cost of housing, cost of rebuilding, Dear Governor remember the people that bought houses from LG are also human beings even if at this time LG seems not to be. And these people will still vote for you please there always is a better way! LG isn't a criminal mastermind it had its falls but please also look a little at its bright side.
ReplyDeleteThere's too much at stake for you to turn your eyes away from a better judgement dear Governor
Why not confisticate the property(ies) and generate fund from it. Whole mess should be treated like proceeds from "crime"
