Buhari Unbundles NNPC Into 7 Units

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has been unbundled into seven independent operational units by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, who made this disclosure in Abuja on Tuesday, noted that five of the seven operational units would focus mainly on business, in line with global best practices of national oil sectors.
The new units include those for Upstream, Downstream, Gas and Power, Refineries, Ventures, Corporate Planning and Services and Finance and Accounts.

Each of the units would be headed by chief executive officers, namely Bello Rabiu for Upstream; Henry Ikem-Onih (downstream); Anibor Kragha (Refineries); Saudu Mohammed (Gas & Power), while Babatunde Adeniran, Ventures.
The Group Executive Director in charge of Finance and Services would be Isiaka Abdulrazaq, while the Executive Head, Corporate Services will be Isa Inuwa.

All appointments, according to Kachikwu are with immediate effect.

  12. Buhari, you are a Racist and a tribalist. We are no longer in the 60s , 70s and 80s when your BiGots used our Brains, you can't stay up north and you don't have crude, gas or whatever and yet you want to be in charge of everything and pretend to carry the Yorubas along. Every appointment must be mainly Hausas ? are other tribes working for you Guys? No Itsekiris, bayelsans , and Rivers , Akwa Ibom ,Ondo etc these states have oil or because they are mainly PDP states you want to punish them? You still have a lot of APC members in them .A true leader does not have the kind of mindset you have. but when you want to appoint you cunningly pick mainly from your stock, dangle a carrot at the Yorubas and others can go to hell The only minister you gave to Delta you made Minister for state not a full Minister and ever since no other significant prime appointment for Delta. Maybe the advisory role you gave to professor Itse Sagay to you is the best you can do. I'm extremely surprised that stake holders in these areas and region are not talking. In the titanic Boat called Nigeria nobody escorted anybody. The whole idea is live and let's live. Delta produces about the largest oil quota and you just sideline them like that? Wether you like it or not Nigeria survives mainly on oil for now until you find alternatives.

  14. NNPC was set up by an act of parliament. You can no just wake up and by executive fiat unbundle without the requisite laws to back up your actions. For Gods sake guys this is a democracy and it MUST be governed by the rule of law. It is a sine qua non.we have a zero option. We must not let this total disregard for our laws and institutions to go on.this protest must not have a tribal coloration.this is wrong on all levels.and the military phrase of "with immediate effect "must be done away with from our lexicon. With immediate effect 😡

  15. Anon 9.52 you are a colossal fool , a retard and an unrepentant ass licker. Must all the heads be on the same level? You candidly want to tell me that if you comb the whole of NNPC you won't find people from these state who can fill these positions? except the ones chosen? Who is fooling who in this dispensation? Shortly after he was sworn in , Buhari actually was quoted as saying states who didn't vote for him should not expect too much from him during one of his international trips and all his actions points to this even though he subtly refuted it. I'm really not impressed with this guys level of tribalism , it's quite sickening. People are complaining but he is just carrying on like lord of the Manor. Pls look for the best hands in other regions. Stakeholders in these regions should come together and make a representation. Enough is enough .Nobody is a fool or escorted any other person to board the Titanic boat called NIGERIA. People are suffering seriously due to fuel scarcity down here in the NigerDela and tons of tankers are announced on a daily basis beeing sent to Lagos and Abuja. This same attitude was what gave rise to serious agitation years back and you still want to continue sidelining people from their resources.peopple are no fools, they can see through your actions no matter how much you pretend. My own two cent.

  16. The same wickedness they applied when they were employing when NNPC was set up abi? That's why you hardly see people from these oil regions growing in NNPC and they will now be saying quota system my foot leaving idiots like you anon. 9.52 to boldly say the rubbish you are saying now. Nigeria has grown beyond what obtained in the 60s, 70s, 80s and maybe 90s. We are all conscious of event as never before so don't ever imagine that our brains can continuously be used like they were doing in the time past. BE WARNED!!!!!!
