JUST over two weeks after her sack as the director general of the National Centre for Women Development, (NCWD), Lady Onyeka Onwenu is throwing shots at the present interim administration at the centre for allegedly reversing some of her policies.
In an electronic mail to THE GUARDIAN, Onwenu pointed to the Guest House at the centre, which she had renovated and made functional and appointed a manager to run, only for the Acting Director General, Mallam Abdulmalik Dawuda, to reinstate the former manager.
“Case in point, the newly renovated Guest House, turned from a dilapidated, fire-gutted structure, where accounts were never kept and ‘friends’ stayed on a permanent basis, free of charge and discounts were given at the discretion of the former facilities manager has been returned to him.
But a source at the centre, who pleaded for anonymity, alleged that the revenue generated at the centre within the short period of Onwenu’s exit was far above what was gotten during her tenure.
“Also, the manager is a Principal Officer on grade level 14, but Onwenu appointed a level 8 officer to head the management, contrary to civil service rules.
“Dawuda, being an astute civil servant, reinstated the manger, who came to this centre with over 10 years experience in hotel management and was managing the Guest House well, according to hospitality standards,” the source added.
Another source revealed that though a substantive executive officer is yet to be appointed, the interim management was working towards upgrading the structure within available resources.
“But contrary to her postulations, what is on the ground is that 25 rooms are not functional.
“Importantly, the centre has enjoyed considerable peace since her exit,” .

Yayyy! Am back
ReplyDeleteOnyeka, leave them to run it down pls before they say you are a bitter woman.
ReplyDeleteCorruption has eaten deep into every facet of our society...I mean every nooks and crannies of our society! It will take ages to clean it all
She is the most corrupt DG ever! People celebrated when she left the Centre. Yes, she is indeed bitter, very bitter and arrogant.
DeleteEvery nooks and crannies? OK o
DeleteThey should leave my sister alone ooooooh.
ReplyDeleteThis Onyeka should rest abeg. A new boss can do whatever the hell she feels like, same way she herself would have changed policies when she got there. She should go and look for work and stop being a monitoring spirit to the place. Rubbish. Just imagine there has been peace since her exit!!!

ReplyDeleteStella release my comment on igbo women in high places. A discussion has to be held on it as the future of the breed in public office might be in endangered.
ReplyDeleteNa real nooks and crannies
ReplyDeleteAunty Onyeka biko relax. Move on with your life and future plans inugo. You've played your part, let someone else play theirs. Good or bad, time will tell. I still love you.
ReplyDeleteonce Nigerians get appointed to public office, they don't bother with an exit strategy or a plan B. they want to hang on to power for ever.
ReplyDeleteMadam Owenu was extremely arrogant and very very rude during her tenure. a DG who could openly and loudly command a deputy director not to come too close because she had body odour. she is not a very nice person and has no capacity to work with others as part of a team.
I wonder why she is belittling herself like this??? she served as DG until the government that appointed her left office. did she expect to continue to serve in a Buhari administration having been appointed by a GEJ??? I really don't understand her at all.
What's her business with what the current management teams does to the place?
ReplyDeleteShe should focus on something else please. This bikering is becoming annoying
Elegant fool
ReplyDeleteBorrow culture people always playing the victim and giving false claims
ReplyDeleteIgbo claimu
Exactly. She has done her bit whether good or bad, she should allow others do theirs'.
ReplyDeleteExactly. She has 'contributed her quota' she should allow others
ReplyDeleteOf course she dated KSA
ReplyDeleteIgbo women love and can't resist Yoruba dick
They know where their bread is buttered
When she claimed witchhunt and tribalism as the reason for her sack, i harbored some pity for her, despite my reservations over the role she played in the "chibok girls
ReplyDeletes' daris God" saga, but this her recent outburst leaves no doubt that she was a bad leader and she disturbed the peace of the place during her ill-fated tenure. She is nosy, bossy and "her way is the only right way". She should move on...practice what she preach. The Centre is not her private business.
