The Nigerian Football association has confirmed the resignation of Sunday Oliseh as head coach of Nigeria's football after claiming violations of his contract and receiving too little help from the national federation for next month's crucial 2017 Africa Cup of Nations clash with Egypt.
"Oliseh has resigned as Super Eagles coach after he did not enjoy the right support from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)," a top official confirmed to VANGUARD on Friday.
Nigeria host seven-time African champions and group leaders Egypt on
March 25 in Kaduna before a return fixture days later, with only the overall
group winners guaranteed automatic qualification to the 2017 Nations Cup in
Gabon.
“He also complained of several breaches to his contract with the NFF," the NFF top official said..Oliseh has complained he is owed four months’ salary and has not received accommodation in the capital of Abuja that he had been promised.
It is also understood that he was unhappy over the dismissal of his personal
assistant, former international Tijjani Babangida, and rumours that the NFF
approached former Cote d’Ivoire coach Herve Renard, who has since been
appointed coach of Morocco. Former Nigeria skipper Oliseh was
appointed as coach in July 2015, replacing sacked Stephen Keshi.
However, the relationship between him and the NFF has soured since Nigeria
failed to go past the group stage of the recent African Nations Championship in
Rwanda. Amid speculation over his future, Oliseh took to social media platform YouTube to vent his frustration by attacking his critics who wanted him sacked, but he would later apologise.Nigerian sports minister Solomon Dalung
waded into the crisis when he advised against sacking the coach.
Under Oliseh, the Eagles played 14 matches, losing two.
*Na that next month match pursue Oliseh so,hes scared of losing..LOL.
Hian!!!
ReplyDeleteHe should leave. He has caused enough harm already.

ReplyDeleteWell then, God bless his future endeavour
ReplyDeleteBye bye to him
ReplyDeleteSee his Samsung R220 face. Bye o!

ReplyDeleteA sad dev't for Nigerian football!
ReplyDeletePpple who know little or nothing will come here to rant.
If u understand the 'underlying dynamics' of what was going on behind the scenes, then Oliseh tried to manage on for 8months!
He wasn't paid for 4 months & neither were his assistants as well!
He was supposed to get an official residence & car as part of his 'contractual agreement' but none was provided.
The players he uses to prosecute games are not being paid the match bonuses & allowances, so morale is low...as witnessed at the just concluded CHAN in Rwanda.
His personal assistant, Tijani Babaginda was sacked by the NFF illegally. Cos Oliseh funds Tijani's salary from his own purse, thereby not making his PA an employee of the NFF...so why sack him???
The NFF disregarded the coach's advice for the selection of Kaduna as host of the 'must-win' encounter against Egypt. Knowing fully well that the Super Eagles rarely gets favourable results from the North.
I could go on & on. Bottom line is that, the NFF infringed & breached on a valid contract, duly reviewed & signed by both parties.
We're even lucky he'll not take the NFF to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) to seek redress!

What do u know? Did Keshi not suffer all these and oliseh still criticised him? Now he knows how it feels.
DeleteKeshi was funding his assistant Valere from his own purse too. To coach supper eagles one needs to be selfless period

And Mrs. Kork, he ain't scared as u're insinuating! He has lived & schooled in Europe & has been fully ingrained in their ways of doing things!
ReplyDeleteEvery coach who knows his onions would walk away same way!
And just so u know, he's just one of only 3 Nigerians with the most qualified coaching badges in the world. The other two been Emmanuel Amuneke & Mutiu Adepoju!
He is not the 'average Nigerian' that suffers & smiles! If we all can stand up against wrong & misrule, then we'll be heading somewhere!
We would have beaten Egypt. It's not like on current form, dem sabi ball pass us na!

ReplyDeleteOliseh knew already that he is a failure , hence, he decided to 'runaway' before Egypt match to avoid embarrassment
