A group of legal practitioners under the aegis of Coalition of Lawyers Against Corruption in Nigeria (COLAC) will stage an anti-corruption rally in Abuja on March 25, to show support for the anti-graft war being waged by the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
This was disclosed by COLAC executive members, led by Barrister Olusegun Bamgbose, during an official visit to the State House, Abuja, where they were received by the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.
Also on the delegation were three zonal directors, Barristers Muhammed Garba (North-West), Muhammed Musa (North-Central), and Ejike Ben Anwu (South-East).
The anti-corruption rally, the lawyers said, will feature a minimum of 500 lawyers from different parts of the country, who will go in a motorcade round Abuja, sensitizing the populace on the need for all and sundry to join, and, indeed, own the anti-graft war.
"The war is not for President Muhammadu Buhari alone to fight. It is for all of us," said Bamgbose, Executive Director of the group. "When corruption is tackled, the power problem will be solved, health care would be provided, there would be quality education, and the quality of lives of Nigerians would improve. It is, therefore, in our own interest to join in the corruption war, and that is what COLAC is out to achieve."
Adesina, in his response, appreciated the lawyers for partnering with the government in the corruption war, assuring them that they had embarked on a worthy cause, as President Buhari was resolute in his determination to clean up the country, and bequeath a nation that all Nigerians can be proud of.....
Ok then.

ReplyDeleteSame set of rouge lawyers that support/frustrate our court system are talking about rally?it's alright. More than 80 of your own members (Lawyers) went to Abuja High court days ago in support of your very own corrupt SAN Ricky Tarfa.
ReplyDeleteA corrupt SAN who engage/support looters. Why was that? you guys are in full support of the corruption.
Our lawyers are like rotten tomatoes seriously.
Nigeria corruption is not caused by our leaders alone,it's being encouraged by Nigeria lawyers and judges.
Don't worry!! The good and reasonable lawyers frowned at the attempt by Ricky Tafa and his shameless SANS to intimidate EFCC and the court, that's why there have been various solidarity walks for EFCC. It is annoying tho, I mean how can 90 SANS follow one person to court if not to intimidate when only one SAN will address the court. the light has been fully turned on the Bar and the Bench now and lot of SANS will be disrobe soon, every Registrars of the court wnt be spared!
Deleterubbish.
