The Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, on Monday ordered permanent secretaries in the state to proceed on a 30-day retirement leave with effect from Tuesday, February 16.
Those exempted by the governor’s directive are the permanent secretary in charge of Government House and those occupying the position in acting capacity.
A statement by Mr. Bello’s spokesperson, Kingsley Famwo, said the state Accountant General has also been relieved of his appointment.
The governor also sacked the directors of local government, treasurers of local governments, education secretaries, among others.
“In the same vein, all Directors of Local Governments (DLG), all Treasurers of Local Governments, all Education Secretaries, all Cashiers to Local Governments in the state are to proceed on 30-days compulsory leave effective from tomorrow, February 16, 2016.
“All affected persons are to handover to the staff next to them,” the statement said.
A few days after his inauguration, Mr. Bello ordered the immediate reinstatement of all local government chairmen sacked in the twilight of the administration of immediate-past governor, Idris Wada.
On November 24 the former governor removed 15 local government chairmen in the state for defecting to All Progressives Congress, APC.

Its a season of sacking ooooh!
This country is terrible. This one enters and sacks all workers employed by previous political party, another enters and does same. Nigeria is one big jungle. When they call us monkeys, let's not complain.

It's expected now........the business of getting into political posts dictates you reward loyalists with appointments regardless of competence or qualification........The chop i chop mentality. True leaders can inspire and work with anyone...... the opposites want their family members and friends to get the juicy posts and we wonder why things got so bad.
ReplyDeleteSeems we are in the era of sacking.
ReplyDeleteIt's well.
ReplyDeleteBut it's very normal. You choose people you work with. Kogi state need overhauling. The state is messed up. Marginalization is at its peak in that state. If the new governor wants to achieve anything meaningful,he should include all tribes in kogi state. Why would someone be second class citizen in his own state? Government of inclusion is what they need.
