Gov Fayose's Allegations That Buhari Is Planning To Islamise Nigeria Gets A Response

The immediate past Minister of National Planning, Dr. Abubakar Sulaiman, has faulted the comment credited to Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State that President Mohammadu Buhari was planning to Islamize the country, describing it as an unguarded statement.

Fayose was reported to have criticized the president’s visit to Saudi Arabia alongside five other governors, saying it was a ploy by Buhari to transform Nigeria into an Islamic nation.

But the former minister said the comment does not represent the opinion of the Peoples Democratic Party.

In a statement, Sulaiman said the visit was not enough to say that the president plans to Islamize Nigeria.
The statement read: “The above statement credited to Governor Ayo Fayose, that the trip by President Muhammad Buhari and five governors to Saudi Arabia is an attempt to transform Nigeria into an Islamic nation should be seen as a misguided utterance and not a true reflection of the perception of most members of our party’’.

“Not only is it capable of heightening the centrifugal tendencies in our country, such statement could be counter-productive to the reform agenda been driven by some patriotic elements in our party.

The visit by the president and some government functionaries is not enough to suggest an attempt to Islamise the nation. Any divisive statement from any leader of our party is condemnable and not in the best interest of Nigeria,” he added.

  5. The denial would have made more sense if it is coming from Buhari himself. and not from his henchmen.
We haven't forgotten that he called on Muslims to vote only Muslims in 2011.

  6. Well I had the privilege of being the youngest to serve NOSCEF courtesy my former principal and what I can tell y'all that the plot to islamize Nigeria is real.
However the GEJ regime tried to politicize this issue by using CAN to influence Christians into voting along religious line in the last election but as we can all see, it failed. Thank God most of us realised that it wasn't about religion but the fact that GEJ had failed woefully. Oga Fayose is merely trying to heat up the polity by playing this same card. Truth is, we will never know the real agenda of our leaders whether its to lead us to further damnation or to salvage what is left of this country. My advise is, believe not any politician because we will never know what they are really upto.
Btw I believe Fayose is also trying to islamize Ekiti state going by his action abi I dey dream?

  10. It am a Christian and I reject the statement made by fayose. U see, some people don't get this things. Going for hajj is one of the pullers of Islam. So goodluck that went to Jerusalem was planning to Christianise Nigeria... Lol. We should learn to study and know the way of life of other people. And for the record, I am igbo and living in the north. Most of us know this things. Most people that talk like this are people who live in far away south and east.

  17. Fayose did not give enough evidence to support his claim if he attribute the claim to of his frequent travel to Islamic nations i will give it a thought. Many people will not take Fayose serious because of his past useless comment but sometimes there is sense in nonsense
