An unnamed woman in a Land Cruiser sport has crushed 8 pedestrians to death on Ilaje Road, in the Bariga area of Lagos State.
Among the dead were a pregnant woman, two siblings, an old woman and a man returning from his place of work.
The woman , said to be staying on Adebisi Street, had barely taken the wheels to drive the SUV home when the vehicle surged forward, crushing pedestrians and killing four of them on the spot.
A set of nine injured people were reportedly taken to the Gbagada General Hospital, among whom two died; while another set of seven casualties were later recovered. Two more corpses were found in the gutter on Sunday morning.
Enraged youths reportedly went to the scene and beat the woman up. She was about to be lynched when some policemen from the Bariga Police Division intervened.
She was to celebrate her birthday on Sunday and was going home to make preparations for the event before the incident.

What a pity...it is only in Nigeria that you will get a drivers license and learn how to drive by yourself at home....RIP to the departed.

DeleteOh my goodness. May their souls rest in peace.
She probably left the car in gear 1 and not used the hand brake when she parked it and so she must have restarted it without holding the clutch down hence the car jumping forward. May the soul of the departed rest in peace.
DeleteMistletoe
And that killed 8 people? Can't imagine

This is serious wahala. I hope she has insurance even if it is third party, because those family will seek compensation. But no amount of compensation will bring life back. So sad a story.
ReplyDeleteThis is tereible.... she might hve mistakenly stepped on d accelerator instead of d break
ReplyDeleteIf she wasn't drunk and has a driver's license, maybe something went wrong with d car. This is so sad. I feel for d dead ones and also the woman. How does one move forward from this.
ReplyDeleteThe earlier Nigerians learn jungle justice isn't the best form of gossip, d better for us.
May the souls of the departed rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteShe might not have been learning how to drive, the car might have developed a fault and spiraled out of control.
Or she was trying to avoid something and lost control of the car. Or she was drunk that's another theory..
This Lagos driving is so scary you will be driving your own and driving for others. Everyone wants to overtake you or push you out of the road.
She would forever feel guilty about this. Now she will be charged with manslaughter
The devil wakes up and chooses who to use daily. Let's all be prayerful
Exactly! Being prayerful is d key o... Lord have mercy.
DeleteWe need to be prayerful n move closer to God
