In a chat on Channels TV yesterday, Taiwo Ebenezer, the southwest chairman of Bureau de Change (BDC) operators indicated that the naira could fall to 400 against the dollar by next week unless something is done stop the currency’s free fall.

ReplyDeleteThe CBN governor has lost it.
ReplyDeleteAll his policies keep failing.
Why ban BDC?
Travelex that was brought in for replacement has not been able to meet up.
At this rate, dollars will soon be N500/dollars.
The man needs to be sacked.

Nothing can be done about it. It is our demand for export products e.g. Hermes Bags, that is the result for this free fall. Most of these export goods have been blacklisted by the CBN, however, importers rush to the parallel/black market in desperation for dollars/foreign currencies to pay their suppliers with the view of passing the cost to the end consumer.
ReplyDeleteProbably, there would be an equilibrium point, where end consumers can no longer afford the high prices for export products or importers can no longer source for foreign currencies. However, we must begin to source our products in-house.
The CBN is either clueless or sleeping on duty..... JEZZZ!!! I just hope Naija won't end up same way Greece ended up. This wasn't the Change pple were expecting even if there has to be a fall bfore rise, but this is way too much.
ReplyDelete@ dis juncture, I will recommend the sack of CBn governor. His stupid policies brought us to dis free ride.
ReplyDeleteNawa o

ReplyDeleteYou are bragging with that dirty mumbai that smells...
DeleteThe stench from that city nearly gave me a heart attack...
Lagos is 1 million better than that pig city infact,I would compare it with Ezza in Abakalilki
Queen you lie!
DeleteAll you commenting hear that the naira is on a free fall.. Google the exchange rate and see that your parallel market dealers are the ones sucking you dry. Tell all the importers of toothpaste, and tooth picks to stop... its not funny a lot of people are ignorant of the official exchange rate.
ReplyDeleteStop been ignorant
DeleteBanks don't give dollars
They direct you to the parallel market
Do you think people will knowingly go to bdc if banks were giving dollars??
Try buying something online even and the banks will deduct same price as parallel market
When it says cbn price it doesn't mean other banks but central bank itself. So if central banks sell to other banks are 199.90. And banks don't sell dollars to individual
You pimple don't know how things happen but open your mouth to comment trash
