Doctors!
ORTHOPAEDIC QUESTION.
My mum did a kneel(TKR) Total Kneel Replacement Surgery for Osteoarthritis 2+ years back, which went successfully. But lately, she has been complaining of stiffness, pain and tingling sensation on the operated kneel, we have seen/complained to her orthopaedic surgeon/ physician, did x-rays, but the doctors keep saying there's nothing wrong with the surgery/kneel. She has taken different pain relief medicine without any improvement.
I want to ask the orthopaedic doctors in the house, or peeps with such experience if this is normal? Is there any solution to this constant stiffness/pain on the operated kneel? She has been on physiotherapy all this while, but it seems not helping.
What can she do to help alleviate this pain? Is there anyone in the house with such experience? And how did he or she go about it. Thanks for your concern, as i await comments.
*Knee
It is well
ReplyDeleteosteoarthritis always comes with aging and most times cannot be cure parmanently.Let her continue with physio. The pain will be there sometimes but she should lean how to manage without a pain killer always.Since xray said nothing is wrong then she should relax or better still change her physio and comply to instructions.
DeleteI am sure she did the first operation in Nigeria hence d relapse. Even the medical system is worse than d judiciary

ReplyDeleteDear poster...Have seen people that did the knee operation and still complain about pain always but they always advice them to take a stronger plain kill or maybe your mum should see a physiotherapy its will help as well.
ReplyDeletedid u not read the part where she said she has been in phsiotherapy all this while but without relief??
DeletePls seek a second opinion, I don't trust someone doctors, after they almost operated on me some years bk that I had appendix n I was very much okay, I went to a govt hospital who said there was nothing like that. Since then I always go for a second n third opinion.

DeleteGod please heal her bones...knee is part of the body attached to the thigh and legs while kneel is a verb..an act of bending the kneel on a surface.

DeleteKnee'thanks Kevin...
DeleteWell since xray says nothing is wrong,I recommend she gets food supplements rich in collagen, hyalouronic acid, glucosamine, and chondrointin. Also plant based Omega 3 fatty acid can help..
ReplyDeleteAll these quack doctors that wont see anything wrong with someone.
ReplyDeleteDoes she have a physiotherapist??,where was the surgery done???my mum is to do same surgery at the Dubai health city and the surgeon said she'll need physio for atleast two years. You know these people are aged, they don't heal quickly like the youngsters.Since the X-ray says theres nothing wrong, then there's nothing wrong. She'll be good in no time.
ReplyDeleteI am a Physiotherapist and would suggest she continues Physiotherapy. However, if no considerable improvement or relief from pain and you are sure, your mum cooperates with her Physiotherapist, and does all her home programmes well, you can seek the opinion of another Physiotherapist.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a function of where she did the surgery,TKR being the last resort at times has its challenges too.
Lastly, she needs to continue her exercises and learn not to depend on analgesics, Osteoarthritis comes with aging, has no permanent cure, its only always being managed to prevent further degeneration.
Knee.
ReplyDeleteSeek a second opinion from a consultant orthopaedic surgeon elsewhere.
Look up to God
