Nursing Mother Sells Baby For N300,000

The Bayelsa State Police Command, yesterday, confirmed the arrest of a 28-year-old mother, who allegedly sold her three months old baby girl for N300,000.

Spokesman of the command, Asinim Butswat, gave the name of the baby’s mother as Oyikepreye Enoch.
According to him, Enoch was arrested yesterday by men of the Akenfa Division, following a tip-off.
He said:
“The suspect sold her child to one Esther Tony, 30, for N300,000.”
Butswat, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, added that both suspects were undergoing interrogation at the Akenfa Police Station, Yenagoa.

I dont even blame the lady who tried to sell her baby but why try to buy someones child?take advantage of their poverty ridden situation to buy their child?so so wrong!...wickedness!

  1. Maybe she's not rich enough to cater for the baby and someone offered to give the baby a better life. Please don't judge

  6. Not saying is right.but the buyer may have needed a baby to shower love and affection on.And d seller May be unmarried and short of finances to take care of the baby.

Although it's kinda off the transaction took place when d baby was already 3 months ans not a newborn.

I'd rather she gives d baby to someone capable of loving and nuturing it than to keep nd baby and starve or become abusive towards the poor tot.

God pls keep all dese suffering away from babies, hunger, war, abuse etc.make it an adult thing.

    1. the buyer could have been trying to adopt the baby for a long time without head away and decided to go thru illegal means

Nigerian government should make adoption a little but more transparent and easy..

I have an aunt who almost paid for a baby if not that she had a change of heart. She has been looking for a male child since she has only girls

She tried adoption for 2 good years legally but stories and processes kept coming up. So she decided to pay for a new born baby from a girl who's boyfriend abandoned her and she was still in secondary school the girls parent chased her out of the house and she has been leaving with an aunt who told my aunt they were ready to five her the baby...

Which she agreed and since she was pregnant around the time the girl was pregnant I was going to be easy for her as she would have told people she had twins (boy and girl) but she later called the woman and told her she isn't interested again to avoid future troubles and be labeled a child trafficker or other bad names she will get on social media..

  10. I'm not supporting anyone oh, but it's better that she sold the baby than killing her after she has had her. And the person that bought it must have been really desperate to go to such lengths!

  11. Both have same mind. One needs money another needs a baby.

Some women are just evil sha.

  12. I still think these adoption processes should be made easier and legal too,not all these back yard runs they do,reaping off desperate couples.

Esther might just be another desperate woman looking for just any baby by all means.

  14. Family planning would help some of these situations. Don't bring children you can't cater for and then try to sell them or ship them into modern slavery. There is no excuse for this action sadly....... The seller and buyer should be penalized.

    ReplyDelete
  15. What could be the reason for selling your child, poverty? No excuse please

  16. stella you need to stop already with your stupid comments....you make a half informed story and u say u dont blame the mother...why did she sell the baby? some mothers hate their children cos of the circumstances of their birth i.e they don't know the father so good riddance..if its poverty then who does she need the money for?..i can only not blame the mother if she had post natal depression cos i know that is a serious medical condition....pls spare us your thoughtless comments sometimes...

  17. I dnt see anything wrong in someone selling their child provided it is done to the right source and the seller isnt forced. Wonder why ppl make a mole out of ant hill.

  18. That is not wickedness. She is helping her to free her from poverty.

Who even reported the matter self. The mother knows what she is doing and what she wants.

If she had gone to beg for a loan, that woman would not have given her.

So the matter get as he be.

    1. This had nothing to do with conscience

Unless the buyer is getting that child for ritual purpose then that's where I would be sad

But if it's a woman that sincerely needs a child to love and cater for, then I see nothing wrong with it..

Haven't you seen news where babies are thrown in the dustbin after birth??

Last week in calabar a group of people gathered round a child dumped in a Dustbin and watched the child cry until she gave up and died. No one picked the child to take to the hospital because they were scared of police and been labeled ritualistic. No one gave the child water or milk or even do anything. They looked until the child died. They said they called police but police never showed up..

Is it the same thing you want for this child?? Do you know what the mother of the child is going thru already.?? Please I'm glad she gave her to someone who needs the baby instead of maltreatment the baby, or abusing the baby or even strangling the baby to death.. Or throwing them in dustbin
