Former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has been awarded the African Sun Times’ International Person of the Year 2015 for his role in ensuring a peaceful civilian-to-civilian transition in Nigeria.
The African Sun Times is the largest weekly African newspaper in America and has been in circulation for 37 years.
According to the organisers, the award was given to Jonathan “who shocked the whole world by swiftly calling current Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and conceding his defeat in the March 29 Nigerian presidential election, thereby stopping the predictions of violent bloodshed in Nigeria, and keeping his words that he would not allow the blood of a Nigerian to be shed to further his political ambitions.”
The award citation added: “President Jonathan must be applauded for creating a solid foundation for the growth of democracy in Africa. The world has started to recognize President Jonathan’s courageous act....”

ReplyDeleteMeanwhile letme derail a bit...I just got back 2 and quickly read d doctors comment section and was appalled by some people's level of ignorance.
Dear bv members,it isn't compulsory to comment if u dnt know jack bout medicine.
Most went on saying authoritatively ddt d poor baby was being molested. Habaaaa na u dey molest am?
Dear poster...it is perfectly normally for some newborns, its often called physiologic leukorrhea although it becomes a thing of worry if d discharge doesn't stop within a week,a month or 2@most and if d discharge is smelly and much, den u ought to see ur doctor...for now do nothing other than to carefully monitor her
End time advice*yimu*
DeleteMadam know it all..
DeleteA lot of people don't know what this man did by doing that. Yes, it's d right thing to do but do they know what could have happened if he had decided to act like d Way our dear aboki would act if he was in his shoes??? Do they know how many lives would have been lost???
ReplyDeleteThank u Goodluck ebele Jonathan. Even God saw what u did, hence ur continual recognition everywhere.
He sure deserves the award, truth be spoken. But all the revelation that trailed his exit and his role in all, doused his merit.
DeleteMy thoughts though...
