    1. Please that bank rate don't work nada

Almost everyone get dollars from the parallel market..

In fact everyone gets from Parallel market. And it will still skyrocket if cbn doesn't start giving them dollars

The best thing for Cbn to do now is to start giving Bureau the change money but give then a fixed price they should be selling

Tell them not to sell more than so so amount since their annoyance was that Bureau the change was making too much money from it..

Because if they don't start giving them dollars, trust me it will get to 500 naira per dollars

And yes emeliefe should be sacked
And Buhari should surround himself with sound economist

Ever wondered why obasanjo worked with ngozi iweala?? Because she was damn good at her job.. Even sanusi and soludo where good but this emeliefe knows nothing

      Really nothing

If only you IDIOTS can see beyond your noses, you will know that for a seed to germinate, it will first die and bring out a new root! Naira will soon rise again! Some measures are being put in place to check money laundering and useless/ frivolous spendings! WATCH OUT!

    1. Nope
If someone sends western Union to you
      You wouldn't see shishi
Because bank will give you at their rate.
      And not Parallel market rate

If it was before that bank will give you in the currency that it was sent and you change at malam that is when you would have seen money

But now, bank will give you in naira and their own price not malam price.. So it's almost same thing the person sends abroad is what you will get as that is the registered amount

      Delete
    2. Lol...see as this anon just spoil my mind. Thanx though

    3. Who still uses western union?
My brother pays directly into my account, I get the NAIRA equivalent. Last week it was at 280 to a dollar. He sends me $150 every month. At #300, I will get 45k! YIPEEE!

      Delete
    4. Which bank are you using and how did he pay directly to your account. Because western unions have been chopping my money since

      Delete
    5. Please even with direct bank you can't get it that way stop lying..

If your brother sends 100 dollars to your account, it will automatically convert to the standard bank rate. Only parallel market has that price you mentioned.

      Stop lying

      Delete
    6. Please I am not lying anonymous 17:18. I receive alert whenever he pays.

Anonymous16:15, I use first bank. He has my account number.

He said, there are legit agencies that he pays dollar into their account, they will convert it to the current exchange rate and their partners in Nigeria will pay the Naira equivalent immediately to my account. It happens within hours or a day, depending the time he pays.He said by monday, it will be 282.

  6. Please what is parallel rate all about?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Parallel rate is Bureau the change

You know banks don't give dollars

      Only mallams
Everybody change their money with mallam

So that bank rate doesn't make any sense. Been that, that isn't what people get dollars for..

  7. And they were 'sai-ing' Baba.. :(

  8. The rate at which the Naira is depreciating is just too alarming.

I heard it will still go up cos that aboki in the top is not doing anything about it...
Nigerians should be ready for this years hardship!...

  11. CBN Exchange Rates

Export Exchange Rate Results to Excel / CSV

    Date Currency Buying(NGN) Central(NGN) Selling(NGN)
    1/29/2016 US DOLLAR 196 196.5 197

So CBN sells to banks @197 and banks sells to BDC probably @ 220 and BDC sells to to people at 340. The BDC are being so expensive because so many bank managers and directors own one or two BDC. The bank is refusing to sell dollars to importers and exporters because they are not making so much profit from them like they do when they sell to BDCs.

CBN refusing to sell dollars to BDCs will not solve this inflation problem. Monitoring the price is what is important. I shopped online recently and was charged N235 against Dollar.banks should be held responsible for withholding the dollar with us and making it available to BDC.

    1. The only sensible comment here, not from the idiots who have never even seen dollars in their life but cursing the president. He is only trying to sanitize an already corrupt system, let's give him time. I remember in 2004 when I gained admission in the Uk, the only thing I needed for a bank to change my Naira was my visa. But now even if you have a valid student visa and an account with them they will ask you to go to a BDC, why? Cause most of them own the BDC. May God make it better for Nigerians Amen.

    2. I hav no business with dollar but I just want to ask. Since d banks are changing @ a lower rate, why can't Ppl go directly to deir banks instead of using d BDC's? Won't it b cheaper doing ur transaction directly with the banks.

      Delete
    3. Bdc wasn't selling this high when they were getting money from cbn

It easy when they had to source for their dollars that they sky rocketed

Bdc was selling about 230-250 last year when they were still getting dollars

This 300 naira for dollars started when they were asked to source for their dollars and really where should they hey dollars.. It's hard for them to get dollars since they have been cut of directly from their source

It wills till go higher as long as they are the ones sourcing for their money

Then again ask the bank why they charged you 235 after shipping online. Weren't they suppose to charge you their normal bank rate which is at 199?? All this people are scammers please..

      Delete
    4. Anon 12:10

No you can't go to the bank because banks don't give dollars to individuals

For you to apply for dollars in the bank, that means you want to pay school fees abroad or import oil

But you can't walk into the bank and tell them you want to change 1m because you want to buy market in China, UK or USA

      They won't give you
Infant banks don't give dollars. It's as simple as that

That is why everyone gets its from mallams

      Delete
    5. Anonymous 12:10 that's where the problem is. The bank will direct you back to BDC

      Delete
    6. @ anonymous12:10, the bank refuses to sell to people because their ogas own BDCs where they make lots of profits.
@anonymous12:54, there is no country in the world that CBN sells currency to BDC's. BDC's source for their own funds independently. Because soludo started it does not make it right. Monitoring and regulation is still what we need for this exchange rate to come down. When CBN start checkmating the banks and regulating the price of dollars in the parallel market the better for us. Yes each online shop have their standard exchange rate. When dollar was 198 in the parallel market Amazon was billing @ 160 and my bank was deducting the naira equivalent of 160.

  22. If they had listened to soludo that time he asked for us to make naira great, all this won't be so bad now..

He asked that we make the highest currency 50 naira or 100 naira but put more value in it...

So that 100 naira might equal 5000 naira for example which was what Ghana did but everyone kicked against it

Now we are in trouble and their is no way out for now until oil price magically goes up. Because we can't start manufacturing all we have been importing in 4yrs

    It's not possible

We can't start diversifying and expect returns now. Returns would be in the next 2-3 yrs

  23. What else should we expect when the coordinating minister for economy is a lawyer ( Prof. Yemi Osinbajo)...#change....the loyal Buharists see nothing wrong...
