Court Orders Nnamdi Kanu To Be Remanded In Prison

Justice James Tsoho of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday ordered the remand of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and founder of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, in prison custody.

Kanu, who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, since last October when he was arrested, was arraigned along with Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi. The accused persons however pleaded not guilty to all the six counts preferred against them.

While ordering the remand of the accused in prison, the judge overruled a request by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Mohammed Diri, for an order further remanding the accused persons in the custody of the DSS.
This ruling came as a relief to the defence team, led on Wednesday by Mr. Chuks Mouoma SAN, who had complained that the accused persons had been denied access to their families and lawyers since their arrest by the secret police on October 14 last year.

  11. I seem to be the only one who doesn't care about what's going on with this man and his so called Biafra disciples. If holding him in prison will reduce or eradicate the traffic in Lagos state, then please it's about time.

  15. At the end of the day, to what essence is this cause? Another Saro Wiwa? This generation dont need such sacrifices mehn. Ingratitude begets the ordinary man out there. Fight for your family and sacrifice for your family if you must. Others are going about their daily businesses and these ones are jumping from one prison to another. There is nothing like your home bro. Think within yourselves and know if you actually need this for yourself or for the publicity. Most of those cheering you on will forget you all over time and if you end up being convicted, I tell you none of them will visit you in prison.
I guess its rather too late...

  22. It's saddening Nigerians don't read news but comment after headline

The news States he asked the court to send him to prison which is a better option for him than been in the custody of dss

In prison he will have access to finish members and Lawyers

But in dss custody he doesn't have all that so he pleaded to be sent to prison while the case carries on

So it was a win for him on this one

It's tiring when I read comments and see daft comments and this are the people that engage in cyber wars with people..

    Oh God of mercy
