The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Audu Ogbeh, has blamed the poor run of Nigeria’s economy on the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) introduced by former Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida.
Ogbe stated this in an interview in Otukpo, Benue State, at the flag off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Benue South Senatorial re-run election campaign for its candidate, Mr Daniel Onjeh.
The Agric and Rural Development Minister, who blamed Nigeria’s over-reliance on crude oil, claimed that the Structural Adjustment Programme pointed Nigerians in the wrong direction.
He advised Nigerian youths to take advantage of the oil crisis in other to diversify into Agriculture and non-oil sectors.
Ogbeh also expressed concern over the high rate of unemployment among Nigerian youths with the advice that they take up opportunities being created in the agric-sector, in other to earn themselves legitimate sources of livelihood.

ReplyDeleteJonathan was helping the agricultural and manufacturing sector with his YOUWIN program..
ReplyDeleteI don't know why they stopped that.. Other programs needs to be established to help the agricultural sector be there rain or sunshine.
We need to start exporting very well now..
And mining
Tourism is another thing to look into.. We have games reserves and places that can be used for tourist visit like ogbonike cave.. That place should be developed and brought to Standard. Alot of people will pay whatever to go into that cave..

He has a point though! That externally packaged structural adjustment program was the beginning of Nigeria's Dwindling economy . Iye
ReplyDeleteStella leave the blame, follow the message.Every negative thing has a cause. Is it a crime to label or mention that cause? Why is it always seen as a blame game? After the tenure of this govt.there would be things they too would be blamed for.Let's stop playing to the gallery.Jonathan was a disaster.A lot of things wrong today, are directly his fault, whether some of us want to admit it or not.
ReplyDeleteEverything about the last administration was a disaster agreed
DeleteBut everything about this administration is clueless.. They don't have a plan in place aside tackling corruption. No other plans in place..
Please what I the only one that watched the media chat?? To see that Buhari didn't have anything to input about changing the economy??
Oh thank God,we can now put the blame on Babangida.I wonder when this blame game will stop. You guys should work with d available resources joor.
ReplyDeleteSoon buhari and his APC haramites will run out of whom to blame for their daftness and super-cluelessness.
ReplyDeleteYour footnote was my thought exactly.
ReplyDeleteStupid clueless people, looking for who to blame
ReplyDeleteNot only that.
ReplyDeleteThere is also the issue of institutionalizing
The fight against corruption is incomplete without visiting the issue of the missing $12B Gulf War windfall.
*institutionalizing corruption
ReplyDeleteVery soon they will blame buhari that his WAI is the genesis of corruption in Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteThis man makes some sense. The demise of the Nigerian Economy mostly started from Babangida's era. I really wonder why he has not been brought to justice.
