Victim is so traumatised and kept saying this issue would just stress her old father who didnt deserve this and that any action she took would hurt her family and hurt her too.She also said she had not done anything about this and her colleagues and friends were the one pursuing that legal action be taken
THIS IS A RECAP OF WHAT HAPPENED AND AN UPDATE OF THE MATTER PRESENTLY
''Hello beautiful people of STK blog, this is Layo, (Funke's close family member, from her mum's side.)
I am writing to clarify what's true and what's not true about this story of hot water pouring on sisters story. Am going to start from the beginning, because I was the person that first contacted Stella.
My sister that lives in Port Harcourt with her father, step mum and siblings. I think over the years, there has been tension in the house because my sister is the first child, but with another woman, who happens to be my mum. Anyway my sister was sleeping when her step sister went into her room with hot water, and poured it on her. Yes Stella she poured hot water on her while she was sleeping.
After the thing happened at about 1am, they left her till morning, before Yemisi (the person the poured hot water on her sister) drove her to the hospital and left her there. It was from there that Funke contacted her friend, who now called her biological mum that stays in Lagos, and told her everything. Funke's mum could not make it to Port hacourt that day, which was on a Sunday but flew to Port the next day.
When her mum got to Port hacourt,they told her that the girl Yemisi, had come earlier, she came, she didn't say anything,and left the hospital, more like she went there to spite her.
Funke's daddy didn't get there until Tuesday, because he does not live in Port with them, I think he lives in Kogi state, when he got there, he didn't say anything tangible other than ask how she was feeling, like I expected him to say something stern to his daughter that poured hot water on her sister.
To even add insult to the injury, he went with Victoria (Yemisi ' mum), when she got there, she didn't say anything, she was just there looking at the victim and her mum up and down, and you know how Nigerian women are,Funkes mum, starred back at her in shock because she expected her to say something as a mother, and at that the mother of the person that poured hot water on her sister, but she didn't utter a word but was just looking at Funke the victim and her mum.
She now asked why Funke's mum was looking at her with bad eye, Funke's mum now replied her and asked that she still had mouth to talk to her after herself and her children wanted to kill her daughter.
Victoria, the mum of the person that poured hot water on her sister now replied her that she better go back to Lagos, if not she Funke's mum would be the next victim....
Victoria, the mum of the person that poured hot water on her sister, now took the mop, and hit Funke's mum with it, Funke's mum, now wrestled the same mop from her and pushed her back with it...
how can she go to the hospital and start fighting with the victims mum again after all the trauma she and her children put the poor lady through?. Instead of she and her children to go begging, she started a fight there.
I can tell you categorically that the news in Punch newspaper and on linda's blog that she poured hot water on herself, or she fell and the hot water poured on her, when they were fighting were all lies,what you are reading here is the TRUE STORY..
How can a medical student conjure that kind of lie because she wants to make herself look good?. On Thursday Yemisi who thought she would get away with her crime and on seeing the way the drama was unfolding, which was not in her favour now went to the hospital to make restitution, but because the air was still tensed,Funkes mum told her to leave. She and her cohorts thought Funke does not have anybody to fight or stand for her, because funke is a gentle soul, and quiet to a fault.
Funke does not have any hand in this, but her family, friends and her Co workers are the ones fighting for her, because everybody knows how gentle she is.
Anyways now I think their dad and Yemisi, the lady that poured hot water on her sister have started begging funke and her mum and funke being a gentle person she is has started tilting towards her father's side and funkes mum, being a quiet person too, has started talking to people begging them to stop whatever they doing on this issue but people are still furious!
How can you treat a person like that?
Funke should be held accountable for her actions.
I Am resting my case now but will keep you guys posted. And i am attaching Funke's picture before the hot water pouring things, and also Yemisi ' s picture. Thanks Stella for all you do''.

Delete@my opinion; you are quite right but in matters involving families, some courts may be inclined to grant an application by the prosecution, for a withdrawal of the charge in order to prevent further breakdown in the family unit. Ordinarily such a prayer may amount to compounding a felony but some courts would find a gray area due to the sensitivity of the case. It's only in cases like murder or manslaughter which carry capital punishment, that the family factor goes to no issue.
The family can apply to the court through the prosecutor/prosecution to withdraw the charge on the grounds that the victim has decided not to proceed with the matter because she fears the outside will have devastating effects on the family. She can bring up issues like the health condition of her father(even if he is as healthy as a horse, some people will say whatever needs to be said to sway the mind of the court).The accused can do some stage managed performance of her own by openly begging her sister and the entire family for forgiveness while bawling her eyes out to show remorse for her actions, all whip up sentiments. Trust me, some of the most melodramatic performances happen within the four walls of courtrooms.
There are Judges/magistrates whom may fall for the theatrics or grant the prayer for withdrawal of the charge because they are of the opinion that the outcome at the long run would be more beneficial if such matters are resolved within the family. However, there are some strict Judges/Magistrates who go by the books and completely ignore the drama and insist on continuation of hearing whether or not the victim agrees to testify as long as the prosecution has a prima facie case. Some matters can be unpredictable.
I feel so sad and my heart further breaks because siblings ought to protect each other in spite of the normal rivalry. What a dastardly act meted on a sister by another sister! Forever carrying the scars of inhumanity, that's even hoping her condition doesn't deteriorate. Most hospitals in the country are not well equipped to handle cases of burnt victims adequately and the few which might, are super expensive. Poor girl, I wish her speedy recovery.
How will someone that kicked a bucket of hot water sustain that kinda injury. I am begging dis girl not to let that idiot yemisi get away with this. Next, it may be her life.

If the fool of a father considers other children more important than his first daughter, the primary evidence of his being a man, then he won't be able to do anything if they later kill this girl.

If that man were a just man, the first thing he should have done on arrival is to order the arrest of the daughter and the mother without prompting. When they see the road to kirikiri from inside the cell then any begging would then be entertained to show that he doesn't approve of that murderous act and so send a real warning.
My stand is to arrest the woman and her children, charge them to court or threaten to charge them to court and then setlle out of police or out of court when these demons realise the road they are toeing, anything outside this is making the victim the sole sufferer of this and other cumulative acts. It doesn't matter at this point what the victims feelings are because she may ignorantly accept to bear every pain for all these people including her useless fathet that think nothing good of her
