    2. It is the senseless ones amongst them that allow themselves be used as tools for violence. The main people behind this nonsense are behind their computers writing different things to instigate tribal war, whilst thiee families are also safe somewhere. Meanwhile these street urchins risk their lives to champion the cause that the intellects amongst them have written on paper. Thus making them susceptible to danger and the shedding of their own blood. Does it make sense?? Is anybody fighting them? Common sense is lacking here.

I still dey indoor oooo, what happened yesterday and day before yesterday was something else, On Tuesday, everybody trekked from Asaba to Onitsha because everywhere even the marine was blocked, everyone is afraid to leave their house. Shops, filling stations, markets shut down. The angry crowd burnt down mosque, Dangote trailers, car windscreen etc yesterday.

Na only God go save us, today is day 3, let's see how today go be. God help us

  20. It wasn't funny yesterday, Onitsha people need God. Must they burn the mosque? Thought it was supposed to be a peaceful protest. They closed the markets forgetting that people need to sell to make money to survive. Did Nnamdi Kalu tell them to protest with machete and matches? So this is how they plan to lead us, forcing us to stay at home and not go about our normal businesses? School children were running around every where yesterday. And i'm sure their so called leaders are still telling them to continue. And they are in their houses having peace while go and loose their lives in the name of protest. God help us

  21. So who is suffering now? These people. RIP to the gal. In ya next life, waa gbe ile iyalaya e and not follow blindly. Ur leaders would not even notice sm1 died in the process. Minus one niyen. When you people are ready, you wee go to aso rock and form a human barricade and cry onto ya leaders to implore Kanu to give the DSS what they want and request 4 a referendum. Till den, una still dey play about. Crippling the economic activities of ya state. Be rest assured dat you wee still pay for the dangote truck wey una burn. D last i remember, dangote is not the CEO of DSS. Better leave the abokis in your state in peace. Remember that your people are everywhere.

  25. Hmmmm. My dear, it's not been easy for us here. The last time I witnessed this kind of thing was in 2010/2011 when soldiers and Massob had a face-off. Yesterday's own was terrible. They burnt a dangote trailer conveying cement, at uPper iweka. Blocked the whole road and even got to owerri road and started burning tyres.

I was shocked when I looked at the irritants constituting these nuisances. Small boys of not up to 15years!!! My mouth was opened in shock. Parents really have a lot of work to do. They kept shouting "No biafra, No peace", harassing travellers and stealing from some of them.
I'm not against us agitating for Biafra, I just believe that there are more civilised ways to go about these things.

  36. What Nigeria needs is restructuring, but the elites and those that are benfiting from the flawed structure, will never want that to happen.

Corruption is not the main problem in Nigeria, corruption exists in every part of the world, including China. Fighting corruption and ignoring our age long dysfunctional foundation, is like sleeping on a hard surface. One can never enjoy such type of sleep.

On the agitation for self rule, a referendum is needed like the Scotland vs. UK case this year; for the pple to decide for themselves.

However, a referendum cannot just be manufactured from thin air. It is the product of painstaking negotiation that will determine the terms and conditions of the acceptance of its result as binding on all parties. Its starting point must always be that there is enough peaceful ferment on the ground to demand for it. This is how all nations that have seceded peacefully did it. That is how those legitimately seeking independence today are doing it.

So really, this road of violent protests & agitation is a road to hell, it looks like the right road to a lot of misguided people though!

  57. They are doing exactly what the federal government wants them to do. The government wants it to become very violent. They really want the igbos to take this thing to another level, thereby crumbling the economy of the south- east just the way that of the north-east is on standstill. Go to the north east nothing is moving because some people because of their selfish interest brought over the Boko haram madness and started using it to their advantage.
My fear is that the same thing might just happen in this biafran stuff. The international secret agitation sponsors will soon bring in arms and the whole thing will turn the other way round. I don't pray to see my own people in the same situation that I am seeing the north east. You may call it protesting for your right but there are people, delegates that should be doing this. You dont have to close down roads to pass a point. Or is it that the igbos are too divided that they cannot delegate people that will speak to the federal government? Let's take it easy with all these before it gets out of hand. The typical Hausa man don't care abt life but we do so let's be the wiser ones. For those that will cuss me out go back and read the history of how Boko haram started. It was just like this

  58. I was not born during the civil war, but I have parents who successfully painted the picture of what life was like back then and i don't want to experience that bloody ugliness.

I am 100% full blooded Igbo, but i also don't let my heart do all the thinking, I leave that important task for my head. This is just a propaganda to benefit a few individuals who may have had their public funded home based and personal treasury hijacked by the new administration. The lack of cash-flow threathens them so they are looking for all means possible to change the odds.

Ndi Igbo, let us tell ourselves the truth, during the last presidential election, a lot of Igbos were shoting "Jonathan ka anyi ga eso" - meaning, Jonathan we will follow, but on the day of election, many igbos wre found in bars, at home, still shouting "Jonathan ka anyi ga eso" while they never actually came out to vote. On the other side, the Hausa's ensured that even under-aged people and children, even their animals came out to vote. The Yorubas are always the fence warmers. They never have a stand, they support personal interest.

i guess what I am saying is, let us analyse ourselves, if we could no come out to vote, do you think we would come out to fight? Are the Igbos really ready to walk this path? Look at the opponent and their dedication, can we really match it?

I don't have any problem with Nnamdi Kanu, If truly he has the interest of the igbos at hand, this is the time to prove it.

i think Mr president needs to be very diplomatic with this one. My advise is to release Mr Nnamdi with a warning and let him go and settle the ragging lions. If his Excellency decides to use military force or forceful measures, this could threaten the peace of the entire nation and will definitely lead to retaliation and war.

    God help us. http://martinschikespeaks.blogspot.com/2015/12/analysis-onitsha-riot-needs-diplomatic.html

  61. The casualties by John Pepper Clark

    The casualties are not only those who are dead;
They are well out of it.
The casualties are not only those who are wounded,
Though they await burial by installment
The casualties are not only those who have lost
Person or property, hard as it is
To grape for a touch that some
May not know is not there
    The casualties are not those led away by night;
The cell is a cruel place, sometimes a heaven,
No where as absolute as the grave
The casualties are not those who started
A fire and now cannot put to out. Thousands
Are burning that had no say in the matter.
The casualties are not only those who escaping
The shattered shell become prisoners in
    A fortress of falling walls.

The casualties are many, and a good number well
    Outside the scene of ravage and wreck;
They are the emissaries of rift,
So smug in smoke-room they haunt abroad,
They are wandering minstrels who, beating on
The drum of human heart, draw the world
Into a dance with rites it does not know

    The drum overwhelm the guns
Caught in the clash of counter claims and charges
When not in the niche others have left,
    We fall.
    All casualties of war,
Because we cannot hear other speak,
Because eyes have ceased to see the face from the crowd,
    Because whether we know or
Do not know the extent of wrong on all sides,
We are characters now other than before
The war began, the stay- at- home unsettled
By taxes and rumor, the looter for office
And wares, fearful everyday the owners may return,
    We are all casualties,
    All sagging as are
    The case celebrated for kwashiorkor,
The unforeseen camp-follower of not just our war.

This poem gives an insight and reflection on the Nigerian Civil War.
We sit behind our phones and agitate for war, forgetting that it takes absolutely nothing to start a war but the consequences of such indiscretion will linger on for more than a lifetime.
As a matter of fact, the worst hit are the ones who survived the war and not the ones who died, think about this!!
You want to start a fire that you maybe unable to extinguish even when you desperately want to put it out.

Advocating for war is never a panacea for resolving conflicts and grievances. There are better and
more peaceful ways of addressing issues of this nature.

Anyway, he who has ears, let them hear.

    1. Yorubas are not innocent. they are hypocrites, fence warmers who do not know their left from their right. if dis ongoing crisis begins to favor the ibos they would switch side and vice versa. they are neither there or here.
don't get the wrong idea I am not supporting d ongoing lawlessness becos ibos are also foolish. why would they be protesting in their states and killing their own people while the elites or government are in their homes dining and wining. if they want the change they so desire, they should take it out of the places where they can hurt their own people and give it to the government. Nigerian government are always nonchalant about the plight of the mass. we can only get what we want out of this country once the elites start feeling the brute and pains of the lawlessness they help create.

  66. Keep blaming the Yoruba's, in fact blame them for everything wrong in your life. They are living their own life the way they want to live it.
