The Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has ordered the suspension of three top officials of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, over the recent incident involving Turkish Airlines and its Passengers at the Abuja Airport .
The passengers had blocked a Turkish Airline plane from leaving the runway, because they had been at the airport for over 5 days without their luggage. The suspension was effected on Sunday in Abuja while briefing journalists after listening to explanations by the airport officials on the incident.
He added that the ministry had also ordered a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of the breach, as well as why the airline brought in passengers without their luggage.
The suspended officials, according to him, are the Airport Manager, Terminal Manager and Head of Airport Security, who were ordered to hand over to their next in rank pending the conclusion of the investigation. The minister said the explanation by the officials of the airport that the security personnel on duty were overpowered was not acceptable, ordering for thorough investigation into the incident.

The worst thing that can happen to anyone is to arrive a destination without your luggage or have your luggage ransacked so i understand these people's grievance!
I can imagine how they felt.
ReplyDeleteNice move

DeleteEnd time suspension.
DeleteOf course it was a wonderful move!
DeleteWe shall get there sooner or later.
I've got a dream that one day Nigeria shall become one of the greatest Nations in world that when you mention the African continent anywhere around the world what comes to the mind of people is Nigeria. One day, Nigeria shall single handedly change the face of Africa.

DeleteThe passengers had blocked a Turkish Airline plane from leaving the runway, because they had been at the airport for over 5 days without their luggage, reacted by blocking one of their planes.
ReplyDeleteWhat kinda grammer is that bikonu?
Did you get the message? The essence of language is communication, as long as message has been passed and understood then the rest is not as important as you think. Miss Aboki, it wasn't in anywhere in history that Lord Lugard spoke Hausa or understood it. So, it's not a big deal if any African makes a blunder in English. It ain't just our thing, never was it found in our DNA.
DeleteGOD BLESS NIGERIA.
Never take people you provide services to for granted.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those times you appreciate the power of social media.
Only in Nigeria. Mstchewww!
ReplyDeleteIt's a global problem, airliners pay millions of dollars every year for compensations.
DeleteThe airport authority failed security wise, allowing unauthorized personnel on the tarmac... Try this at JFK and you get jailed or shot at. Terrorist can key into this coz of the porous nature of our airport security.
Take your protect to their office or wait sue them.
Imagine the rubbish,5 days without ones luggage that's BAD!! Abeg make they return their luggage sharp sharp!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a Shame, Serves them right.

ReplyDeleteBut thank God, they finally received their luggage yesterday.
Useless airline.
Thats why these days, person go jejely pack overnight things in your hand luggage. Not just laptop and gadgets. Toiletries and at least change of clothes must be in your hand luggage. That way if situations like this occur, you are covered for sometime.Airlines don do me shege so I don learn small.
