Imo Govt.Calls On NDDC To Embrace Inclusive Blueprint In Niger Delta Development


Government of Imo State has once again reiterated its call on Niger Delta Development Commission and other collaborating agencies to adopt all inclusive strategies in their programmes so as to give every member State sense of belonging, the move he said will bring about a holistic development the region.

Imo Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere made this call last Monday during "the Partners for Sustainable Development Forum (PSDF) organised by Niger Delta Development Commission, the event, which held in Presidential Hotel, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.

Prince Madumere who described the forum as highly encouraging by virtue of the fact that Imo government under Owelle Rochas Okorocha administration was never brought into the scheme ab initio in the last dispensation.

While commending the new leadership of the body, he said he was impressed with the theme of the two day forum - "Re-strategizing Development Concepts in the Niger Delta Region to provide for Post Oil Wealth Socio-Economic Sustainability.

The number two citizen of Imo State thanked the organisers for its holistic approach to the development of the region. He further advised the body to galvanize resources towards designing a holistic blueprint towards developing the region and eschew politics of exclusivity but embrace all inclusive approach to making the region economically viable.
He therefore submitted that Imo State will not cry so much for its losses in the last dispensation but called for a marshal plan that will make the region have a sustainable economy even in the absence of oil economy. He however assured the readiness of the State to consolidate on whatever dividend allotted to the state by the commission by making requisite inputs, which he said will magnify their effort.

He used toe forum to enumerate the achievements of the owelle Rochas Okorocha led government in the area of infrastructure and laying social structure, which he said will be leveraged upon in mobilizing her people towards embracing any development scheme towards uplifting their  

He also called for revitalization of agricultural sector, which he said remains the mainstay of Nigeria's economy. More so, he decried the loss of track in the Niger Delta in the area of agriculture and food production, the trend he said could be dangerous for the future both for the region and Nigeria at large.


It will be recalled that Prince Madumere made a similar call last November during a Niger Delta Development Forum held in Asaba.
