Help Save Akuwa Adejo


Akwua has till 15th January 2016.......





Dear Stella
Please help save Akuwa Adejo, she is a friend and a school mate. We attended Command Secondary School Ipaja Lagos together and she is in serious need for medical attention.

Akuwa has been sick for long time now, and was diagnosed with Umbilical Hernia and Liver Failure. She requires liver transplant as well as umbilical surgery to correct the swelling around her stomach. Her brother has agreed to donate (a part of) his liver, so she will be traveling with him as well as one more person who will look after the two of them after they have been operated on. ‎

The total amount for the expenses is US$55,000; this is inclusive of their accommodation as well as air tickets and travel arrangements.




‎On her last trip to India She was advised that she can't be cut opened twice for the two surgeries within very short breaks, the doctors advised it's better to have the two surgeries done at the same time.

‎ Akwua has till 15th January 2016 to get these surgeries done. As at the last time she went to India, the doctors told her that her liver is below 5% performance. Truth is, Akuwa has less than 1 month to perform the surgeries for the avoidance of irreversible damages.

Akuwa has also permitted us to share her pictures as well. I have attached her pictures for you to see her condition.

      I know that feeling of "It has featured on SDK and Linda's blog therefore help will come soon or some government official will come take care of the bills". While that may be true, it doesn't often work the way we thought all the time. If everyone who read her story can donate 1000 or 2000, I bet by Monday she could even be out of the country for the required treatment.

      Its such a sad thing to watch death stare at you gauntly in the face. To put up a smile in the face of that is something courageous and speaks that she has hope, lots of hope in you, me and all of humanity to do the best we can to help her.

      Its so scary to die with all of your dreams, hopes, aspirations and goals stuck at a corner of your heart; defeated. Please let's save the ones we can while we can because everyone deserves a chance at life.

      P.S: I don't know whom she is nor related to her in anyway other than humanity.

      I will make a small contribution first thing tomorrow morning. However, I am not a fan of these Indian medical trips. The indian doctors have turned it to a business and are milking our people with no commensurate treatment. They even have Nigerian partners who rail road you to specific doctors in India.

    Omg. This just pained me. This same Indian wahala happened to my brother. And due to the whole delay cos his was heart issue, he died. Just came back from the burial on Saturday.
