Aisha Buhari Says N3.3 Trillion Was Embezzled By Only 7 People

The wife of PresidentMuhammadu Buhari,Aisha, has reportedly said that seven corrupt Nigerian officials were solely responsible for the embezzling of N3.3 trillion.

Mrs Buhari reportedly made the statement on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, while hosting a group of ‘social media change agents’ to dinner at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
“N3.3 trillion was embezzled by only 7 people,”the president’s wife was quoted as saying by political commentator,Japheth Omojuwa.
“Young people should monitor monetary allocations to ministries and demand judicious use of same,”Mrs Buhari supposedly added.

The administration under which the said looting occurred was not specified but it is believed to have taken place during the Goodluck Jonathan regime.
Corruption under Jonathan’s government has been a major subject of discussion in recent times after it was alleged that officials misappropriated funds meant for Nigeria’s war against Boko Haram.
The discovery was made by a special panel constituted by Buhari to investigate arms purchases in the country from 2007-2015.

    2. I stand corrected but is it her place to make such announcements? I sit on the fense when it comes to politics after all " who them help" but I think she should find one program and concentrate on.its not in her place to host social media " change agents"

    3. Auchibabe...why isn't it her place to talk about anything? But you can talk abi? She should look for one program...because she is a woman /first lady so she should not talk about corruption. Again but you can talk? You need the fear of God because children of God don't talk out of their ass, children of God have better sense.

  6. Hopefully one day you guys will leave Jonathan alone.. Since the number of officials involved is known, I'm so sure you guys know those officials , and if you do, them what are you waiting for.
We're already tired of hearing stories, action is needed.
#3.3trillion and most Nigerians are living in abject poverty.

    1. Action like what? You think Nigeria can suddenly have stable power within a year ba.
The deeds of the past administration will hurt us for a while.
Our first mission is to get corruption to the barest minimum and everything will magically fall in line

    2. We should at least start seeing the revolution we voted for.. After how many months still blaming past administration.
If action is not taken on those that embezzled this money, then how can we curb corruption.
So far this administration isn't better than Jonathan's

  26. ''if something goes wrong, I will not make excuses...I will take responsibility for it and i will fix it...'

this was one of the campaign quotes of president Buhari. they even used this quote to erect gigantic billboards on major roads in Abuja.

Now he's in there, its excuses all the way.

  27. how many people area actually authorized to speak on behalf of this government? one day its oshimole throwing around information anyhow, the next its Lai Mohammed, day after its Madam Aisha Buhari?

can our president coordinate the communication coming from his administration pls? how many people speak on his behalf? how many people should talk to Nigerians about the state of the nation?

Michelle Obama knows (almost) everything her husband knows including very sensitive matters. we don't hear her throwing bits of sensitive information out when she attends events. when will these our Nigerian first ladies learn to chill???

President Buhari himself only talks to us when he travels abroad. and yet we keep getting bits and pieces of information from different people: so incoherent!!!

each time citizens begin to demand accountability from this administration, they throw in one scandalous corruption story/episode and start singing choruses about how corrupt jonathans administration was. all in a bid to distract people from asking them 'how far??'

excuse me, the only reason the so called 'çhange' was voted in was because Nigerians knew the former administration wasn't doing well. so what's new about telling us how people stole money? after al some of the partakers are closest to the president right now.

please madam, tae a back seat!!!

  29. I do not know which is more pathetic - the impossible figures these people throw about OR the people that believe such figures.

How can 7 people steal more than 70% of the (current year) budget? And the nation didn't shut down? That must have been a superhuman government!

And now that we supposedly have "transparency and accountability", why is the nation shutting down?

It just might be advisable to return to the superhuman government.

  30. Madam, how many millions of dollars did you get in the Halliburton scandal?. Please, tell us.

  31. SO IF THEY RECOVER THESE MONIES LIKE THEY PROMISED; WHY DO WE NEED TO BORROW TO FINANCE 2016 BUDGET; WON'T THIS FINANCE MORE THAN 50%? AGAIN WHY IS IT THAT ALL THE APC FORMER GOVERNORS ARE NOT BEING PROSECUTED; ARE THEY CLEAN: EVEN THOSE THAT SHIFTED TO APC FROM PDP IN THE LAST MINUTES?
