Those saying chicken and okro sucks don't know what they are saying abeg. Chicken and okro is the bomb. I prefer okro with chicken to okro with beef, fish or goat.

And also, I don't cook my okro for more than 2-3 minutes.

    1. You guys can pass your message along without insulting the poster biko.she was kind enough to send in her recipe.70 percent of the yoruba people here pour their soup on top the swallow,in same plate.and that stuff irritates me.and same people are here bashing the poster for doing so.maybe the poster likes her okro soft and overdone, doesn't take away her cooking skills.

      Delete
    2. Exactly! Someone took the pains to send this and you guys are insulting her...not cool at all

      Delete
    3. But yorubas don't eat yellow gari.
And they will never serve their eba like that.
It must be round and smooth.

      Delete
    4. @ Gbg, exactly, Yorubas don't do yellow garri and we don't serve eba like that too.My only issue with this soup is the atarodo, babe, this is much.Soup looks yummy though.

  16. Okra soup is yummy but your presentation of the meal isn't looking inviting at all. The Eba could have been in a separate plate and well smoothed out. Well, my 2 cents.

Okro and nsala is the only soup for me when I want to swallow, which is like few times a year.
Better nsala soup with azu ndu(catfish) azu asa, anu tozo, ya na towel.chai!

You mashed your okro too much and also overcooked it.
Okro is vegatable and is not meant to be cooked until turns black.
Also chicken with Okro?? *throws up*
    How will that taste?

Next time, make your okro visible, add very lil water and let it maintain it's green colour biko.

      I don't eat overcooked vegetables
Grinded pepper would have being a better option, it drawls more
The Okro is too smooth, so I guess you used the wrong hole, I actually felt it was Ugwu soup.
      Too much water
This is not Yoruba way of cooking Okro although there are several methods.
You need to go for proper training on how to make Okro soup.

  39. What you will need,
    1. A clean pot or kettle
    2. Clean water
    3. Gas or firewood or stove or saw dust.

    Procedure.
    1. Pour clean water into a clean pot.
    2. Place the pot on your already lit gas/stove/firewood/saw dust and cover it.
    3. When you start noticing bubbles forming inside the pot/kettle, leave it for some time.
    4. When the bubbles starts making kputukputu inside the pot/kettle, careful remove the pot/kettle from d fire as the water have boiled
My people, this is how to boil water. Remember, hot water can be used for making Eba,semo, wheat meal,to bath and also to bleach (just pour hot water on yourself n see how fast it works).

Please don't forget to Switch off ur gas or blow d stove off or u use water to quench it. For those using firewood or saw dust, biko jejely quench it with water so you will not blind your eyes or choke yourself.

Till i come your way again next week with another ogbonge recipe.. My people una doh ooooo
