Miss Criminal 2015 beauty pageant

The annual Miss Criminal 2015 beauty pageant was held at the Talavera Bruce women’s prison in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Miss Talavera Bruce pageant is one of those beauty contests, which is held under the supervision of armed security guards at watchtowers and all the participants are inmates.

That’s because Talavera Bruce is one of the toughest’s prison for women in the world.

The contestants tried on their best dresses, did their makeup and style hair and even perform catwalk poses in the Miss World-style contest.

The annual event, which is supported by local community and church groups, was established to boost the inmates’ self-esteem.

During the competition the most serious female offenders were trying to impress 10 judges including a famous Brazilian model and prison officials with their beauty and talents.

And this year it was 27-year-old Michelle Neri Rangel, who was crowned Miss Talavera Bruce.

Michelle Neri Rangel was sentenced to 39 years for robbery in 2010, with an additional six years for prostitution inside the prison.

Last year’s winner, 22-year-old Ana Carolina Rosa de Souza, who was convicted of drug trafficking, explained: “The competition is not just about beauty. The judges are looking for the ability to express sympathy.”

  20. What kinda of nonsense is this? Miss Ciminal Pageant in prison? I guess this whole prison idea's now a big joke......why convict them at all when there's almost no difference between prison and the outside world? People who're supposed to be sober reflecting on the ills that got them there and working on being better citizens are now being made up and paraded as beauties of prison yard. Uwa mmebi.
