Love yourself. Make peace with who you are and where you are at this moment in time. Listen to your heart. If you can't hear what it is saying in this noisy world, make time for yourself. Enjoy your own company. Let your mind wander among the stars. Try. Take chances. Make mistakes. Life can be messy and confusing a times, but it's also full of surprises. The next rock in your path might be a stepping stone. Be happy! When you don't have what you want, want what you have. Make do! That's a well kept secret of contentment. There aren't any shortcuts to tomorrow. You have to make your own way. To know where you are going is only a part of it. You need to know where you have been too. And if you ever get lost, don't worry cos the people who truly love you will find you.count on it. With all the goodness and grace inside of you, make life beautiful. Live while you live. Live and don't leave. Most importantly, believe.

  9. My English language teacher once asked me to come stand in front of the class while going on to tell everyone who cared to listen, "you are a truant and I doubt if you did even make to the university" (about 2 weeks to Jamb). What she didnt know was that I had passed my GCE exams a year earlier and was just waiting to write Jamb. My dear people of SDK, I had the second best jamb score in the arts/commercial class and today a qualified lawyer.

Especially, number ten of 10 steps to self care.

Drama and negativity, prevents one from seeing the big picture.

  28. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”~Marianne williamson.

  30. very inspiring comments - At least that is the reason for getting education, the ability to commit yourself to absolute values. Faced with dilemma to make decision re: going into partnership today. Yes business seems lucrative but stake in it constrains my ability to adequate physical need to my family. I worked it out and got out by sound decision making "I can not afford it"; Being honest to myself, hoping that's not end of life.

  36. @North Dakota. That is not a Maya Angelou quote, neither is it a Marianne whatever quote.

Nice quotes Stella. I have learned to have my own philosophies as an adult. Some quotes are outdated, some are untrue. Some were consolation words to whomsoever wrote them. For instance, "Beauty is nothing without brains". That's not true. Beauty is on its own, a gift, just like brains. I think most people who keep making this comparison are those who yearn for beauty.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Depends on ur definition of beauty dear. Everyone is beautiful, it depends on who's looking. But I don't understand when u say "Brain is a gift". Does it mean our children shouldn't go to sch again since its a gift?

      Delete
    2. Hmm. If you are beautiful but stupid nothing for you ooo. It doesn't even necessarily academic brains. You have to have sense beautiful or not. And strength of character or else that beauty will fade in the end and you will have gotten nowhere

  38. My dear Stella, life threw me lemon o. My DH I loved with my life started cheating and rubbing it on my face when I found out. I cried and cried. He started buying properties in his name alone. I cleaned my eyes and decided to make lemonade. I got a job with business at the side, saved my money, and in 6 years I bought over 15 plots of land in my name alone. Went back to school to do my masters, now I'm about to switch to a better job. Now I'm sipping my lemonade with ice. DH no know how to beg. I can afford to fly to any part of d world on holidays o. I'll go anon on this o.

    4. Shake me *give you hand* I don't know why women would be crying over cheating husbands and wasting their time when there's so much money to be made. Hian! The last fear I have in marriage is a cheating husband. But I fear being broke more than anything in this world and continually ask God for wisdom to make wealth. Men!!! They will always be men oh. Awon crying wives of cheating husbands, your tears won't change him. So better ignore the yeye man

    5. It's okay to cry, it frees d soul. I'm sure I cried a drum, but God healed me, I encouraged myself in God and he opened ways for me. I can never take God's glory. God factor is very important.
